    Thank you very much for the mask pattern I've been searching for & didn't know it! This is very simple once you watch the video a couple times. The measurements in inches are as follows: fabric is 12 5/8" x 9 7/8". Corners are 1 5/8". Elastic - measure for the individual. I made (4) ties from matching fabric for securing the mask. I attached them on each corner of the end sections. It is so much more comfortable! This is such a fantastic mask - functional & looks great. I did add 1 layer of interfacing & an additional layer of fabric. It needs enlarging for most men, fits most average size women & teens, and reduce a bit for small children.

      @@tresabechard3905 I made my own bias tape from 1" wide x 16" long strips of fabric. You turn each long side to the middle & iron, then fold in half, iron & sew. You need (4) ties for each corner. Hope this helps! If you need a visual, just Google "bias tape". 👍

      B Sparks yes but a metal insert for the nose to fit closer less air leakage as well as a non woven bond able interfacing would provide better protection & that should be ironed onto the wrong side of the fabric at the beginning & a cotton fabric tightly woven should be used otherwise it’s just a large partial mask so if you can’t see through it when held up to the light then it’s good. Good luck 😁💖

    • @kaersten3623
      @kaersten3623 4 года назад

      B Sparks, I just finished making mine. It is a good seal, but I found that I had to scale the patten up or down by one CM in order to fit the different face sizes of my family when making them for others.

    BRAVO!! My dear, your style has the BEST fit of any I’ve tried yet! VERY comfortable & seals better than all others. (I’ve tried lots) The only thing I changed was that I sewed 6.5” elastic on each side on the *inside* of the 2 pieces, right sides together, & 1/2” in from edge. I may also top stitch the upper fold when finished to keep it down. SUPER-comfortable! 👍🏼

      then you have not been watching very many videos. The extra band of fabric doesn't even cover her nose, she doesn't have a slot for a filter and she also did not put a metal strip on the bridge of her nose.
      She has a gap on the top of this mask so it's absolutely doing no good whatsoever

    • @sixpinkoneblue
      @sixpinkoneblue 4 года назад +6

      @@dcwatashi Uh, then you sewed yours incorrectly because there is plenty of room; it covers above the nose all the way down to a persons' neck. After you sew the first part and turn it inside right, you can put a filter in the middle through the end piece and then sew the ends shut. Use your freakin imagination and stop raging to another person because of your inadequacy, ask for help since the pattern is too difficult for you.

      @@sixpinkoneblue oh my goodness aren't you somebody who's extremely rude. No I did not make this mask I'm not going to make this design
      2 of my neighbors are nurses and my best friend's daughter is a nurse and they will not use this design. you want to argue with the medical profession go right ahead.
      I'm going to be making the Olson mask that was designed by the medical field not some random girl on RUclips. I was just curious and that's the only reason I watched this video.
      and why in the world would you sew the filter in when you need to replace the filter.
      it's quite obvious from your last statement regarding the filter that you do not understand how this virus works. Your ignorance could cause somebody's death!
      to anyone else reading this thread do not sew the filter in place the filter is only good once and The mask has to be washed in very hot water after every use.

    • @lex.larson
      @lex.larson 4 года назад +7

      @@dcwatashi Even the Olsen mask is not considered effective PPE for medical personnel use without an N95 filter. The goal of this is for personal use, for which it is reasonably effective at blocking the main vectors: airborne droplets and accidental touching of one's own face.
      No one is forcing you to make this or any other mask, and the crafter makes no claims as to the risk mitigation in a medical or public setting.
      So just stroll your Karen attitude out if this woman's comments, please.
      Oh, and I hope you're also shouting at all the white women who are posting other mask patterns on RUclips, if you're this "passionate" about protecting public safety.

      Oh yes my thoughts exactly and I'm also going to try combining the last step into one. Rather than the first small casing for the tie/rubber band and then sew the little corners, I was thinking why not fold to those bended corners to create a larger casing and then stitch down again to narrow the casing opening to insert your tie of choice, ribbon, t-shirt strips, bias tape, shoe strings, home sewn strips of fabric, etc. I hope this makes sense.
