Led Zeppelin is the name of the group. Robert Plant is the lead singer who also played harmonica. Jimmy Page is the lead guitarist. John Paul Jones is the keyboardist/bassist. And John "Bonzo" Bonham is the drummer.
The song itself is an old blues song written by Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe McCoy in 1929. The lyrics reflect experiences during the upheaval caused by the Great Mississippi Flood of 1927.
The video footage of the airship that exploded was The Hindenburg disaster which was an airship accident that occurred on May 6, 1937, in Manchester Township, New Jersey. The LZ 129 Hindenburg (Luftschiff Zeppelin #129; Registration: D-LZ 129) was a German commercial passenger-carrying rigid airship, the lead ship of the Hindenburg class, the longest class of flying machine and the largest airship by envelope volume. It was designed and built by the Zeppelin Company (Luftschiffbau Zeppelin GmbH) and was operated by the German Zeppelin Airline Company (Deutsche Zeppelin-Reederei). It was named after Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg, who was President of Germany from 1925 until his death in 1934. It caught fire and was destroyed during its attempt to dock with its mooring mast at Naval Air Station Lakehurst. The accident caused 35 fatalities (13 passengers and 22 crewmen) from the 97 people on board (36 passengers and 61 crewmen), and an additional fatality on the ground.
The disaster was the subject of newsreel coverage, photographs and Herbert Morrison's recorded radio eyewitness reports from the landing field, which were broadcast the next day. A variety of theories have been put forward for both the cause of ignition and the initial fuel for the ensuing fire. The publicity shattered public confidence in the giant, passenger-carrying rigid airship and marked the abrupt end of the airship era.
The cover of Led Zeppelin's first album was an image of The HIndenburg disaster.

John Bonham AKA Bonzo is considered to be one of the great drummers in rock music. He tragically passed away unexpectedly too young and it effectively ended the band, right when they were at the top of their game.

They were four band members and the name of the band is called Led Zeppelin. A zeppelin is an airship like the Goodyear blimp. The Hindenburg zeppelin disaster occurred in 1937. Led (lead) Zeppelin’s name “stemmed from a humorous conversation among several musicians about their chances of going down like a lead balloon”

My favourite song by Led Zeppelin is the song Kashmir. Not the old version but the newest version of Kashmir when he was 64 y.o. His voice is even better the older he gets. By the way, Kashmir is a banger. 👍 Best regards from Norway 🇳🇴

What is so remarkable is that these white English chaps really knew how to play the blues - yes they're English. (Most Brits don't even know what a Levee is). I first saw Led Zeppelin (that's the name of the band - not a person) in 1969 at the Bath Blues festival in England. It was the first gig they ever played outside of London. They went on to become the biggest band in the world at that time. It's a very deep rabbit hole.

Led Zeppelin not a He. Led Zeppelin as a them - 4 professionals each at the top of his game and peer group. Robert Plant - vocals, harmonica, occasioally shakers, Jimmy Page Lead Guitar, Rhythm guitar, John Paul Jones - bass guitar, keyboards, John Bonham - drums and percussion. Rock, Hard Rock, Blues, Blues Rock, Acid Blues, Psychedelic, Folk, Progressive, Ballads, Rock-a-billy, pop/rock, and rock and roll. That covers the genres. They also blend the above as they see fit and appropriate. Contrary to uninformed, they do NOT do metal.
No one in those days would ever consider giving himself a name like that which belongs on a group.

Led Zeppelin is the name of the band.
    Robert Plant - Vocals, Harmonica
    Jimmy Page - Guitar, Theramin
John Paul Jones - Bass, Keyboards, Mandolin, anything else
John (aka "Bonzo") Bonham - Drums
You should start from the first song on the first album and work your way through their catalogue. They'll never stop surprising you with their musical diversity, they are their own genre. I'll subscribe if you'll go down the rabbit hole! And oh yes, they most definitely indulged! ✌️

Back when the band was actual musicians. That explains the long intro. Other than just singers, these are talented people who like to play. The music speaks for itself. No singing or mumbling needed through the whole song.

They got an award for their music 10 years ago. "Heart" played a shortened version of one of their iconic songs as a tribute, with the son of Led Zeppelin's drummer playing the drums on stage. The three older dudes in the audience with the ribbons around their necks are the surviving members of the band. The bass player, singer, and guitar player. The drummer died at the height of their career. They are from Britain.

Led Zeppelin is not one person, it's a band made up of four super talented guys from England. They were formed in 1968 and broke up in 1980 when their drummer died. This song is about a flood that happened in 1927, in Mississippi. The old B&W film shows the wreck of the Hindenburg, a zeppelin (aka a blimp or dirigible) that crashed and burned in 1937.

Keep playing their songs, you won’t be disappointed, everything they do is amazing. Singer Robert Plant plays harmonica lead guitar Jimmy Page John Paul Jones Bass & keyboards drummer John Bonham. First album was created only a few months after getting together, & was done in about 36 hours. Singer & drummer were only 20, Page & Jones were 23 & 24. They are from England & took the world by storm, & still over 50 years later the greatest band ever. Each are the GOAT of their craft, they did many genres, sadly split in 1980 when John Bonham passed away. There’s all kinds of videos about how great this band was & still is, they sold out every concert they ever played. Their celebration concert 20 million tickets or more could have been sold. Dig deep you won’t be sorry at all.

The video has nothing to do with the song, but the group. Their name came from a joke by Keith Moon of rock greats The Who. A bunch of them hanging out together and Jimmy Page (founder of Led Zeppelin) said he was putting a group together, named a few people and Keith said that will go over like a lead balloon. The video is of a famous Zeppelin that caught fire.

The drums on this track have been sampled and copied a bunch by Hop Hop artists. It was recorded in a multi level staircase in an old country villa with microphones mounted on several floors and then ran through a compression device. Groundbreaking stuff at the time.

As others have noted, "Led Zeppelin" is the name of the group. Jimmy Page, the guitarist, was the founding member, recruiting the others to realize the visions he had in his brilliant mind, but they are a band of Equals. Each one was a master of their domain (Seinfeld, har har). None could touch them as a band, as the sum of their parts. Eight albums, hardly any "inferior" songs at all. I c u like vids. I'd suggest "Whole Lotta Love 1970 Royal Albert" "Kashmir" 1979 Knebworth, to name just 2. U will get lots of eyeballs here, lol!

1927 great Mississippi river flood. These British rockers knew more about US black blues than the musicians here did. Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe original blues writers and singers. This flood was so devastating to farms, homes, jobs that blacks and white poor had no choice but to go north to Chicago for work. Their lives were destroyed by forces of nature. When the levee breaks got no place to go.
This is not just a rock song. This is a heavy metal rock group playing an American blues song about the absolute pain of a devastating occurrence to human beings in our country. Mostly poor farm working blacks were devastated. The migration to Chicago. There was no where else to go.
