I ended up doing this, because I had flushed my car's coolant system four times. Still was getting a cold heater. I used Draino instead of CLR. Then used dish soap. Flushed it out both ways several times out with warm to hot water. Now my heater works like a charm. Thanks for your information!!
Lil bro that was the best step by step procedure that I seen yet and I researched for a week.. I appreciate an all out effort!! Wahhh So what was the end result did the heat work, Here in Canada it's freeeezing cold and my 03 Audi A4/ 1.8T heat hasn't worked in years.. we be running tempt portable plugin heat for past two years, it's time to move to south America missing hot sunny days..
Audis are famous for the I too miss the south use to have a house in Florida why did we settle in Ontario oh I can't wait for winter and scraping the inside of the windsheild lol😂🤣😂
I don't know if Dexcool is compatible with G12 or G13 (the coolant spec for your car) but I would imagine neither GM or VW/Audi will declare that. Use the right spec.
The main reason the A4B5 heater won't work. It's the foam on the heater box flaps has disintegrated. To check, remove the centre vent in the dash & look for bits of grey foam. If you find it, you need to remove the heater box & glue new foam over the flaps. A cheap, but time consuming job to remove & replace the box. Be patient. It can be done. Remove the actuator motors & cut thru the carpet under the box for better access. Remember the movement & positions to get the box out do you can get it back in.
Or you can remove the whole dashboard. If not, you will need to cut thru the centre upper vent duct & reflux/seal it back on afterwards. I looked some nichrome wire around the back of it, as high as possible & connected wires to it & a car battery to 'hot wire cut' thru it. Depending, removing the dash might be better.
Can I flush the system without flushing the heater core? Because my coolant is brown but not that brown I put the correct coolant in but I think the people that it before me used the wrong kind. Coolant isn’t low but the warning started flashing maybe a month after I topped it off.
I flushed the cooling system in my Miata project 12 times and it was never perfectly clear! I need to flush again with a dedicated cooling system flush and see how that works.
I do not recommend using CLR. Always buy a coolant system flush. CLR has detergent in it which will screw up O-rings etc. Never use any coolant that is not specifically recommended by the OEM.
On my 06 A4 1.8t the heater hoses are on top of each other the supply side is the lower hose and the return is the upper. But, you can tell which is which because the supply comes from the coolant flange at the rear of the engine.
@@BUILTOFFICIAL Hey , just wondering about the bubbling sounds on heater core. . I hear those sounds too. Could be the sign of air presence in cooling system .Just wondering if trying to bleed the heater core would help me . Thanks
you did not show how to get that front bumper off, one second you were messing with those two little black plastic grills , then next scene ,they are magically off.
you are so wrong. first you need to take out the a/c condenser in the firewall.of course you have to have a machine to get the refrigerant in the a/c system then you have to take the glovebox, center console, then you will see it in the PaSSENGER SIDE.then you have to get the whole A/C and heater core in one assembly unit. takes about a day to it. EASY LOL
Nah, it's a pain, remove whole dashboard, A4B5, or remove the clips holding it to the aircon box & cut thru the upper centre vent & reseal it afterwards, there's no need to keep the springs holding the centre vent.
GM's DexCool did the same clumping BS. What a waste of time after doing a half assed flush. Use some CLR in the core for a few minutes before you flush with water. You realize by taking shortcuts and using wrong products that all you are doing is fucking up others. What did you do with all the toxic waste from the job. Where did you dispose of the coolant?

GREAT camera angles, GREAT editing for brevity, I'm definitely going to subscribe!

Best video out there on this. Provides experienced knowledge along with a DIY perspective; figuring things out. Thank you.
CLR eats the aluminum! So should be great lol.
White vinegar works exactly the same way for a fraction of a cost.
Good luck everyone.

There’s another video that has results
Thanks mate. I have a avant B5 with the 2.8 engine. Tomorrow I will do the same
I soaked the heater core over night with clr worked amazing crazy amount of crud came out! Great vid
I’m looking at buying a 2002 B6 1.8T avant that won’t make any heat. I’m hoping this will be the solution for me. Thanks for the video!
Hello brother, I loved this video, now I can clean my car, so that it is hot, thank you, it has one more follower.

You can get G12 at most parts stores. I switched to G12+ (Purple)
@@BUILTOFFICIAL that's very wrong. Coolants are different from each other. If you haven't yet, get ready to experience massive coolant system issues

Great video. Did the CLR work on the heater core?
How did the CLR work in the long run? Any issues?

Great video bro but did it endup working?
Does the heat work? That is the big question that you didn't answer.
Idiot
How did you figure out which is the inlet and outlet hose ? For heater core I can't figure it out on my Audi A4 03

Hi,
My Audi A4 2.0 heather not working, can you help me for this? Thanks
What size hose did you use for the flush?
States 3/4" in video
I read you can use g40 in the audis as well. anyone have any more input on this?
G40 is what I have in my audi and no issues
G12 was original but G13 or G40 work as well.
I have an Audi A4 1.8 97 it doesn’t have a plug by the radiator plz help :(
Me, a 23 year old girl looking at this knowing I gotta do this 🥲
Did it work have same problem
Hey did your over heat at all
So.... did it work?
Was it successful? Did you get your heat back going? I’m having the same problem!

The heater core is actually pretty easy to change in the A4, can get at it from the drivers footwell.

You look so much younger without a beard like if you were 19
You’re gonna destroy that heater core if you don’t use the right Coolant G12. It’s good with all the seals and such in the system
Apparently it was unsuccessful. Save yourself 13:26 and try another video.
