I have now collected eight full bottles from ELDO. As a fraghead I fancied myself a Rien and Fils de Dieu girl and for practical everyday wear I actually thought I would reach for Hermann and Fat Eelctrician the most. But dents don't lie! I am surprised to say my most worn is Une Amourette. Surprised because I was really on the fence about it but then I snapped it up at an unbeatable price and haven't looked back since. It just works magic for me at the office. My coworkers compliment me incessantly. I'm not sure if it's the Akigala wood note in there or what but it's nice to have an easy reach. Any thoughts on that one? I'm also pretty ambivalent about Putain des Palaces but my husband chases me around the house when I wear it so there's another unexpected winner. Love these slow-burn house reviews of yours, please keep them coming. Cheers from Frankfurt!❤

I spayed on Jasmin et Cigarette at my hairdresser here in Austin, and fell in love. Sent me down a path of not just EDLO catalog but also wanting to learn to do perfumery myself!

I wear Rien Intense Insence now and again (as a man) - it's really gothic to me and goes with an all black rock/metal outfit. I also have Hermann and Attacquer le Soleil both of which I really love, especially Hermann.

Thanks for sharing! Rien Intense Incense is such a bold choice, and I can totally see how its dark, smoky vibe would pair perfectly with a rock/metal aesthetic. i totally get it!

    Great review of the brand!
ELdO's aesthetic speaks to me like few other perfume houses do and, while I don't love all of their fragrances, I have and adore Eau de Protection, Jasmin et cigarette, Rien, and Experimentum Crucis.
Exit the King was not a love at first sniff but now I find the lily-of-the-valley, immortelle and oakmoss just addictive.
Also, I've realised I can't live without Attaquer le soleil Marquis de Sade, Hermann a mes cotés paraissait un hombre, and The Afternoon of a Faun. 😏😁

I really was let down by she was an anomaly. On paper, the notes all sounded right like I might enjoy this. But then when I smelled it, I was like, "Wow, what a nothing burger"
Fat Electrician was the total opposite for me. I didn't think I would like it from the description, but after trying a sample, I fell in love with it.

I tried the discovery set and..Their fragrances are great by themselves but make EXCELLENT base frags.
I bought a bottle of Fat Electrician. Pair it with Versace Dreamer and it turns into something even better.
I also bought Herman. Great by itself but pair it with Lalique Por Homme and it's divine. I also pair it with Versace Eros Flame. Amazing combo.
Clean Suede. Also great by itself but pair it with a drop of cypress oil or Lalique and it's even better.
My personal favorite that you cannot pair with anything is La Fin Du Monde. That is my Autumn frag.
The only one I really detested was Rien. On me it smells like a dirty old hippy threw up in a cold fireplace. Just vile on me. Ash, vomit and incense you'd buy at a gas station.

Wow, you've got a real knack for layering scents! Your combos sound intriguing-I'll have to try them out. And I totally get the Rien thing, it is truly odd. Sometimes a fragrance just doesn't mesh with our chemistry. Thanks for sharing your creative pairings!

I actually quite like Rien Intense Incense even if it's a STRONG one. I only spray once on my wrists and I'm good for hours. I especially like it at night. The opening is a bit too much for me but once it settles down, I love it. To me, it's like an abandonned church where nature took back its place. The incense is strong at the beginning but after 1 hour, the perfurme becomes more green, aromatic and earthy. It has quite the evolution on the skin and I appreciate this perfurme as a work of art. I wouldn't wear it to the office though haha

i have a similar recipe for the original Rien - it is quite shocking at first, but it does has that smth special at the drydown!

ELdO & Serge Lutens are my favourites in the perfume world ❤
DIVIN' ENFANT, FAT ELECTRICIAN, ARCHIVES 69 & VIERGES & TORREROS are my ALL day scents.
ENCENS ET BUBBLEGUM is my scent that everybody loves instantly, although it is hardcore niche 😅

Looooved hearing your thoughts on ELDO's offerings! Sounds like maybe they need to find a solid balance between unique conceptualizations and functionality in their scents? But they also have a reputation to uphold as being rebellious/free and unconventional so something "trendy" doesn't land well either 🤷‍♀
I would sample Spice Must Flow just for the Dune reference but Like This is probably more my vibe🍁

Too true about Sephora. It's where I got to smell quite a few of them myself. Not my brand though. Je Suis un Homme and Afternoon of a Faun were probably the ones I resonated most with, but I never got a bottle of either. In fact I don't own anything from ELDO. Like I said, not my brand. But I am a big fan of the Dune novel series, so if anything I'd get Spice Must Flow just as a collector's piece. But I'm not a collector either so... 😂😭 Appreciate the massive overview Maria! ❤

I tried fat electrician, hermann, putain, marquise, faun, like this, rien and they are all easygoing, witha a note that rien is my leather jacket, alternative happening scent, love it, and secretions magnifique wich everyone is stunned how beautiful bubble it makes. I expected much more controversial scents, but also i havent tried a lot of them 😁
Btw, i love your chanell, it has become the only one i watch♥️

Oh Wow! I was so excited to buy Yes I Do for my daughter for a wedding fragrance…now I know the back story….Oh yuck. I thought it was a romantic wedding day fragrance. Bummed.

    • @MariaMeliora
      @MariaMeliora  3 месяца назад

@debbietaylor9241 it is kind of both - they tried to be hooligans in their interpretation of the "happy ending" story , vulgarizing what (some) women are willing to do behind the scenes upon being pressured vs appear as innocent trying to maintain social status, play of words as well.. by its olfactory construction it is a light beautiful lily of the valley fragrance - appropriate for weddings. It is sad how disgusting the vision for it was, how blatant in its disrespect to women the narrative and self-righteous the insult disguised as a cheeky joke. Again, you chose well in terms of the scent, I just personally can't get over the meaning behind it .

ELDO is perhaps one of my most purchased brands just because most of their offerings are on the cheaper side of niche.
Currently I’ve amassed full bottles of Hermann, Eau de Protection (which is my current favourite), You or Someone Like You, Fils de Dieu, The Afternoon of a Faun, The Ghost in the Shell, Rien, I’m Trash, Jasmin et Cigarette, Yes I Do and La Fin du Monde.
