Transforming mindsets through theatre

This video showcases the use of forum theatre for a farmer and stakeholder workshop in Nandi County, held November 28-29, 2024. Forum Theatre is a transformative methodology in which the audience is shown a skit which illustrates a problem affecting a group in their context and then are able to intervene and change the situation. This is followed by a facilitated reflection, which brings out the experiences and perceptions of the audience.
Topics for the skits were identified from the key results of a study collecting an adapted women’s empowerment in agriculture index (WEAI) as well as qualitative data from focus group discussions and interviews that was carried out by the Low Emissions Food Systems Initiative (Mitigate+) and funded by the CGIAR GENDER Impact Platform’s Methods Module.
In addition to two sections of skits performed by six actors and engaging the audience, the video provides highlights of the songs, dance and games employed by the facilitator, who also explains the approach and methods.
