  • Labour councillors will not be attending meetings of a planning committee at City Hall until they are satisfied that a number of their concerns about its running have been met.
Their accusations against Green councillor and Development Control Committee B chair Ani Stafford-Townsend have led Stafford-Townsend to seek legal advice.
As Bristol24/7 reported on Wednesday, some members of the public shouted at councillors following the conclusion of a meeting which saw members grant permission by five votes to three to approve the expansion of South Bristol Cemetery & Crematorium onto land currently used by Yew Tree Farm.

Any chance of a transcript? I can understand almost zero of that. Something about Unison and something about a councillor being Muslim. But that's it.

I was the cllr who said that as a Muslim we need more burial grounds in Bristol. The public member response was that I should not use my religion 'muslim' to make a planning decision. It was the most awful experience I had and no one protected me from this lady attack
