I think you could have gone for the S21 FE 5G, which is now available at a similar (or even lower) price point than the A54. That phone is a lot more value for it's money at that price range.
Here are the advantages of each phone over the other: Galaxy A34: Same battery size but 10% better battery life simply due to the processor being better optimized. Bigger screen. The 0.2 inches makes a noticeable difference. Less reported lag reported by the people I've seen reviewing the phones. For some reason, better gaming performance despite the A54 performing better in benchmark tests. For example, in genshin impact the phone has no lag and is surprisingly smooth, but the A54 has frame drops and stutters. Same for BGMI. And in BGMI, the maximum graphics and FPS settings for The A34 are HDR and extreme respectively, but for the A54 they max out at HD and ultra. This one might not be true but I noticed that the A34 is brighter and more vibrant when comparing the phones side to side when watching videos. But they supposedly have an equal maximum brightness of 1000 nits. Galaxy A54: 2.24% higher pixel density. A single developer tool that enables you to see the current frame rate, temperature and things like that while using the phone, which the A34 lacks. A punch hole front camera instead of the notch that the A34 uses. I like the notch more, but some people say it's ugly and. who's using the screen behind the camera anyway? I don't like an island on my phone screen. The notch provides a clearer distinction between the usable screen and camera. But this is a very minor difference anyway. I think it has more to do with lower end phones incorporating the notch more often, with higher end phones typically having a punch hole camera. So basically people don't want their phone to look lower end, they want a midrange device that looks high end. and i think the A54 does a good job at that, because it also has a glossy glass back. But then again, I prefer the matte on the A34. The most considerable difference in my opinion, the camera quality. The A54 has a 50mp main camera and 12mp ultrawide camera, compared to the 48mp main and 8mp ultrawide camera of the A34. They both have a 5mp macro camera. The cameras are the only thing that provides a somewhat considerable advantage to the A54. Each phone may have some more advantages that I haven't listed cuz idk them. In my opinion the A34 is better and cheaper. But let's assume all other things were equal and the only thing that was different is the camera quality. Apparently having a good camera on your phone is important to people. Except neither of the camera setups are exceptionally good. They are both just average. And you can actually get a phone with a better camera for less money. So If you prioritize camera performance to the point where paying 100 extra dollars for a slightly better camera is no problem for you, which would have to be the case for you to consider the A54 over the A34, then I would say neither phone is the best option. Buy an iphone, since you hate money.
If the camera on A54 is decisively better than A34, as you stated and exhibited, then photography enthusiasts wouldn't mind to pay extra for A54. Those who appreciate and understand good photography can easily tell the difference between the two models. A smartphone is nowadays a fulltime companion, an AI device for communication, social media, navigation, personal diary and much more. If A54 has a slightly better processor, more RAM, significantly better camera then paying extra is justifiable. For those who don't mind the lower camera specifications then A34 is a better economically choice and no need to pay more for just slightly higher RAM or marginally better processor.
The Mediatek processor in the A34 is actually slightly better than the Exynos chip in the A54, and the A34 can be specced with 8GB/256GB. A54 has been tested to have worse performance. All you're paying for is a marginally better camera's (still nowhere near S23), a hole-punch-notch and a glass back.
A54 has a mediocre camera and a worse processor than A34 (Exynos is the worst chipset). Overall, the A34 is better for gamers, The A54 might be slightly better for photographers but it still has a mediocre camera. Overall, A34 is better
A54 for me because i too love to have a good camera on my mobile phone. I can do without the other comparative issues being similar, but the camera matters to me.
Wow! A video with no background music? Awesome, thanks! I prefer the A54 because it's not too big for me. And for me personally, the color is more interesting.
You forgot to mention the eSim feature on the A54. All in all, the advantages of the A54 are as follows: - eSim/Dualsim PLUS memory card extension - the better camera - 120Hz adaptive - the better processing quality with Gorilla Glass on the front and back - the punch hole Whether that justifies the difference in total depends on the needs of the buyer. Just my 2 cents...
Hey, just wanted to offer a suggestion regarding your speaker tests. Maybe consider using the same song to demonstrate the speaker loudness/clarity, etc because then (even though we all know that a speaker test via a crazy compressed RUclips video plus a plethora of various listening devices won't accurately represent what it sounds like IRL) in the event that someone is browsing your videos while shopping for a new phone, they can at least garner a better idea of the differences between the different phones you've reviewed. When a different song is being used for different devices, I think it really doesn't offer much in the way of help when trying to compare one phone to another. Just my 2 cents. 👍
I've always had flagship phones including my current S20 FE 5G. I recently was given an A33 5G for work, and was really surprised how good the A33 is. Its hard to notice a differenece with my S20FE. Samsung has done a great job.
@@faraz6945why not S21 FE? More flagship specs for a lesser price. Only thing the A54 has on it is the battery life, and 1 extra software update. That's all I can think of.
I was waiting for this. I'd take the A34 over the A54. It is 90 to 95% as powerful, with a bigger screen, longer lasting battery, and doesn't have an Exynos chip that nobody asked for. Plus it's $100 less! They need to release this here in the US! And I plan to be there tonight on Whatnot, Wade! Already signed up.
Not everybody wants big screens tho..the exynos processor is doing fine. Almost No lags or stutters. Performs like a snap 732g in terms of fluidity. No overheating.
@@RodolphosTechchannel The bigger the better for me. I watch my videos and do nearly everything on my phone, so I want a nice big screen. And the dimensity chip is more battery efficient. The A34 has better battery life despite having a bigger screen.

After looking this A34 and A54, I don’t think I will ever buy high end phone again. Currently I use Z Flip 3 for 2 years, and just sold my S10 after 4 years of use, as I was a Note user too once. The reason I buy higher end because of OIS and NFC, both are for work. But this Samsung mid range has all features I need, also the camera is good and performance not very laggy anymore. I used to own very early A series, A3 2016 & A5 2017, but oh boy A3 2016 is very sexy and small phone, I like it. A5 2017 on the other hand is very laggy less 6 months of use. I will looking forward to next 2 years of mid range samsung phone. Z flip 3 is the only exception I buy a new phone, because it feel fresh to the industry because it has foldable screen. I think I’m getting older for “always trying new best” thing, not money is the issue.
I bought this phone, I'm very happy with it, I got it with 8gb and 128gb. I spent 2 years with a samsung galaxy a52, and I feel big differences on the net, first of all, and when opening applications, it's still in learning mode of the battery, but since 09.06, since I bought it, I have charged it 3 times, it's wow

Despite the notch, the A34 has the better screen to body ratio. I will also probably never understand why it's a good thing that the flagships look the same as the midrangers. "That's a little insulting for the S series.." Yes, it is. Also the A54 isn't the first A series to have a glass back, the A5 (2017) and the A8/A8+(2018) for example both had glass backs and IP68 water resistance instead of IP67 on these newer models. Hmm. A80 and A90 had glass backs as well.
@@devilkazumi578 Apple and Samsung aren't the only phone makers. You don't have to choose either, there are plenty other options. Regardless of that, the A34 has the better screen to body ratio and that's not an opinion, but a fact. It's listed on GSMArena's website that the A34 has 84,9% screen to body ratio, whereas the A54 only has 82,9%. The A51 5G had 87,2 screen to body ratio, which makes these phones look like just a big disappointing joke, almost as big as the side bezels on the A54. Not to mention the 88,3% screen to body ratio of the A71 5G, now I get that these are just numbers but in the real world they are very noticable.
@@TravelCuisines The price rise isn't justified no matter what. The A34 isn't a better device for 2023 and onwards than the A71 5G was for 2020 and onwards. If not the A71 5G, then the A52s 5G is the phone that absolutely destroys the A34 5G and is from 2021.. 0 progress has been made to Samsung A series, it's just a cash grab, nothing else.
Just to add a small little side note on the performance side, The A54 Exyonos chip can stutter while gaming while the A34 Dimensity 1080 chip is more stable but nonetheless they achieve about the same performance numbers if not the A34 is just more consistent.
When will this nonsense stop? I've had the A54 as the successor to my S20 5G for over 3 weeks now - both Exynos processors & neither stutters at all. Even the testers here on RUclips, who keep claiming this, are not able to show this supposed effect on their recordings in any video. On the contrary, if you look at the direct comparisons here on RUclips with the S23+, the S23+ loads most apps faster, but once they are running on both, there are hardly any visible differences. The Exynos processors are always weaker than the Snapdragons - but many of them are no longer so bad that something stutters. If a smartphone like the A54 (or even my old S20 5G) scores over 500,000 points in the Antutu, then nothing stutters! This is pure BS...
If the Exynos isn’t a lesser processor, it should be consistently faster than the MediaTek in the A34 - except it’s literally not. I’m on the “Exynos is bad” bandwagon now 🤷♂️
Its either your Carriers network or the WiFi thats causing the stuttering. I had this issue on another device, and I switched networks and carriers and the stuttering stopped. So I don't think its the phone.
@@TechDaily ... but one shouldn't forget that the 1380 is brand new and certainly still has update potential. When my S20 5G was launched around 3 years ago, the 990 there was always criticized because it worked slower than its US counterpart. But it didn't stutter at first (after all, the S20 was a "flagship" back then), nor did it slow down with the updates. On the contrary, the performance gradually increased. The reason is simple: each processor must be tuned to the respective work environment. And that's never optimal at the beginning. It's a fact that the Exynos processors are slower than the Snapdragons. But no one has to tell fairy tales about stuttering because of the working speed that has now been reached there with the Octacore. This is really only available with the very cheap processors or perhaps in the high-end range of extremely demanding apps, especially if you have several apps open.

Nice video Wade, Ya one more important difference is that, A34 comes with Wifi 5 only & A55 is having Wifi 6. Now a days some phones are coming Wifi 6E as well. i feel that is also important thing to consider in long term usage point of view as Samsung also promises to give OS updates till next 4 years (infact, its a game changing decision by Samsung)
Some major differences between these phones that were not covered: 1. The A54 supports Wi-Fi 6, the A34 does not. 2. The A34 has not been released in the US. Though it is a 5G phone, it does not use all the 5G frequencies used in the US, at least by T-Mobile for the GSMs. Regarding the 5G. I have a 5G gateway for my home internet, so I know what the potential 5G speeds could be. The A34 does not use enough of those bands to maximize the available bandwidth. I am getting 500 mbps on my gateway, 130 mbps on the A34, when on 5G. I have the A34 and purchased it for the reasons covered in this review. I also use a Galaxy S22 for work. For the price point, it does pack a lot of features, however some users may be upset that their new "5G" phone reverts to 4G LTE. These weren't deal breakers for me, but potential buyers should be aware!
I am getting a brand new A54 for the price of the A34. And I am getting the A34 for $80 cheaper than normal. My question is that, is it better to buy the A54 in this situation or the A34?
I dont understand the price range for the A54. This is just way too expensive, it is not nearly value for its money! In fact Samsung's own S21 FE pretty much kills it as you can get it cheaper than this one! Yes, the 21 FE has its own set of issues, but it has the flagship processor of 2021 and pretty much all flagship specs on it. At that price range it is simply better to go for the OnePlus 11R or the Iqoo Neo 7 Pro at that price.
Hey Wade, another very good video comparison and frank conclusion. I must hand it to you, your reviews like this have not disappointed and have been an excellent source of reliable information over the last few years. Kudos to you! Had A34 3 days. Sending it back. I'm use to the S4. I hate the size of these new phones. I tried camera it seemed poor, took me a while to realise that 48mp is only in 4:3 format 8000 x 6000. I compared the pictures to my old S4 and S4 pictures were better. I will compare today with the 4:3 mode.
Just picked up an A54 at Walmart for $139. I don't bother to use the cord that came with it. I just plug it into a standard wall charger and it charges just fine.
I would have liked to see a better mediatek or snapdragon chipset, this exynos processor is just poor to say the least. HOWEVER, camera quality is typically the number one thing people look for in a new phone, and for that reason alone, an extra 100$ to me makes it worth it.

They are very similar which is why Samsung probably chose to only release the A54 5G in the USA 🇺🇸 Also if you turn up the system vibration intensity, I've heard the haptic feedback is way better, on s23 level

I never play games on my mobile so the A34 might actually be a great replacement for my A40. That the A34 is cheaper and has no glass back is a plus in my book. Glass back just mean I would have to buy a cover.
Looking at a couple of unlocked a34s right now on Amazon that are a really good deal. The BIG question for me is will they work in the US? Their distribution is mostly for Central and South America, and even though an unlocked phone can pretty much work anywhere, I've heard regional phones only transmit /receive on certain freq bands (I know Asian market phones do NOT work in the US for sure!) Just really want to know as I don't want an unusable phone.
Honestly..I’d go with the A34. It seems like that wouldn’t be the case, but the MediaTek processor has been better for me, and it’s technically not much less powerful than the Exynos in the A54
Would be better if the recording was done on 60 fps... I mean, you are quite a big tech channel, so you should be able to do so. Anyways, nice comparison and video.
Got the A54 a week ago cuz my Poco X5 Pro has broken screen and honestly OneUI is much better than MIUI, but it stutters sometimes while Poco was very smooth, hope they fix it, I'm a bit scared about the 5y support.
The torch is in a different position between the A and the S series. It's between the top two lenses on this A series, whereas it's inline with the top camera on the S series (not the Ultra).
For the a34, having a microSD drive is pretty cool. However, microSD are three to four generations behind SSD so you won't get blazing file transfer speed. Still it's better than nothing.
Only advantage the a54 has in terms of processor is 4 a78 high performance cores as opposed to only 2 a78 cores in the dimensity 1080. Which is why it scores more in multi score. The better battery on the a34 can be down to have two less high performance cores replaced by two extra efficiency core. One core less on the gpu and maybe it's clocked lower on the gpu but that one is speculation. Only gripe I'd see anyone having is the old U shaped notch.

Nice Review. Based on these facts presented by you, I just bought an A34 (256gb). Thanks a lot.
Exactly, well said
A54 for me because i too love to have a good camera on my mobile phone. I can do without the other comparative issues being similar, but the camera matters to me.

They are both great phones however I'm not a fan of the A34's front design.
Yea it gives me horrible flashbacks of my old lgk51
"not much difference"
a54 cant even run pubg on 30fps, a34 can go 60 fps. And a34 has better battery life than a54💀
You forgot to mention the eSim feature on the A54. All in all, the advantages of the A54 are as follows:
- eSim/Dualsim PLUS memory card extension
- the better camera
- 120Hz adaptive
- the better processing quality with Gorilla Glass on the front and back
- the punch hole
Whether that justifies the difference in total depends on the needs of the buyer.

You have to trust in something-your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life." -Steve Jobs
Um, what has this got to do with the phones?
Despite the notch, the A34 has the better screen to body ratio.
I will also probably never understand why it's a good thing that the flagships look the same as the midrangers.
"That's a little insulting for the S series.."
Yes, it is.
Also the A54 isn't the first A series to have a glass back, the A5 (2017) and the A8/A8+(2018) for example both had glass backs and IP68 water resistance instead of IP67 on these newer models. Hmm.
A80 and A90 had glass backs as well.
Those A series phones were around before I did much smartphone content - thanks for informing me!
Not really....meanwhile iphones budget option looks like a dinosaur (iphone se)
Yeah, but they were both on the same level as the S10e, which was a flagship, and both of those phones lacked an IP rating.
@@svend.7324 But even Sammobile is reporting smoother performance for the A34 vs the A54. Seems like the only advantage of the A54 is the punch hole display, which admittedly for me is a major selling point of that model.

Samsung purposely keeping the A34 out of the US. They think all Americans are rich and they want you to buy a S23 series phone. Boycott Samsung.
Technically, it’s not sold here. The closest you can get is the Latin America model that will pretty much only work on 4G in the USA.
I got the Galaxy A54 5G to replace my broken Galaxy Note10+ whose screen repair outside warranty is almost the same price as a 128GB model A54 5G already so I decided to just replace it with a midrange phone and honestly I don't even find it a compromise unless I'm seriously gonna nitpick about it. Nonetheless this A54 5G has been very amazing and outstanding for a few days that I had it. Probably even better than my Note10+. And after using 120Hz I seriously can't go back to a phone that doesn't have one or a 60Hz phone. And the 5G on this phone has been very satisfying (well not at all times but one factor on it is the telco signal on my country now. 😅).
A55 yeah? Is it 2024 already?
Some major differences between these phones that were not covered:

The a54.
The video that we waited for is this...thank you😊😊😊
I dont understand the price range for the A54.
Thanks for this video! Just as a note, you didn't mention about WiFi capability. A54 has WiFi 6 whereas A34 has WiFi 5.

I love these phones but Im kinda disappointed that neither of them have DeX.
For the a34, having a microSD drive is pretty cool. However, microSD are three to four generations behind SSD so you won't get blazing file transfer speed. Still it's better than nothing.
Thanks for the review
In Singapore for 256GB, it's $600+ for A54.
Numbers arent effective... I mean just look at Apple's A16 bionic to Snapdragon 8+ gen one considering the A16 only has 6core cpu
@@fredvoid5976true.
Dimensity made by TSMC it will beat any proc from Samsung Foundry
@@syarifairlangga4608 yeah.. it acts the same On the A31 vs the A51... the performance on the Helio p65 is merely or even faster and optimized rather than the A51's exynos 9611
I must be special. I hate it when the screen goes all the way to the corner, I keep pressing funtions by accident. I prefer a bezel at the sides.
Which more better a34 or realme 9pro plus
The sharper point to review not like other youtuber, keep it up bro💪 im working in gadget line, start to finish all 💯 true point
How many years software update support of both???
Is there a big difference in screen size on view?
Thank you so much for your generous comment. Much appreciated. Now I know which one is to go for. 😊😊
Should i get a34 5g 8/128?
Hi, I have bought an a34, I have a problem with its display !! white colors are very bad! from any angle I can see white color tone changes some part of screen tends to red the other tends to blue, however for any other background color other than pure white there is no noticeable problem, so is this normal or there is something wrong with my unit?
.....never been a fan of "drop" notch phones at all.... so I'll always choose the higher end A series..... often over the flagship S series because they come close enough in specs. I'm not a heavy user.... so the A"50" series is excellent, in my personal opinion 👍
