Fox resto rebuilt the computer for my fox wagon. Had a #1 injector diode go bad. So it kept firing the injector without the car even running. Great info.
Appreciate you Jay C! I see Mr. Organik is huge now, but I still remember how you came over from his livestream as part of the Gargoyle Gang! Thanks a lot man.
A little late here, but thanks for the video! Getting ready to pull mine from my 88 5 speed to replace it with a Holley HP, this should make it much easier.
Good job on showing how to on removing the computer the right way. That blower motor is super easy also compared to a lot of cars. Tar Heel Fox looks fantastic after the detail.
Another Good *How To* vid. I noticed some months back you edited your Outro of you Driving the SSP into Matt's garage. I always got a kick out of seeing you Pushin' it into his shop. LOL
Yeah, I change the whole video, however, from time to time I may throw that older one in. You're right that is very funny. I was laughing really hard the day I did it.
Decided to check the condition of my computer today. Thanks to this video I knew the best way to do it. It seems my blower housing has been out before though as there was only one of the 2 bolts on the bottom and it wasn't an 8mm as Matt mentioned in the video. But the computer looks good. gonna clean the blades of the blower off before i put it back in. And also going to explore the idea of retrofitting a cabin air filter for the outside air.
When it comes to locating hard to find things I'm the proverbial hound, I'm sooo gonna find me one of those Rotunda diagnostic machines, they look so cool, reading on the net i found a guy that had bought one on eBay with all the accessories for 30 bucks, lol , most people dont know what it is and being so old they think its junk, i think its a great diagnostic machine if you have one of these cars or any old Ford from the time period. On the subject of finding scarce items,OEM Heater cores for these cars are getting impossible to find,a few months ago i found one chasing a rabbit hole in a little shop in California, brand new in the box for 80 bucks, been siting in the guys shop since the early 90s, couldn't believe it, when looking for rare stuff the best advice is... dont give up,devote a hour everyday to chasing leads and you'll find it eventually, this video made me want to check my ECU, it has been in my 91 since they built it, untouched, ive been having strange issues every so often, sure enough, 2 of the capacitors are on their way out, thanks for the video man, awesome as always.
I have lots of respect for Matt and his knowledge however it is MUCH easier to undo the bolt on the plastic retainer that holds the computer in, push UP on the computer slightly, unbolt the wiring from the bottom of the computer, unplug the harness and pull wiring aside slightly. Computer then literally will drop down and out with ease. Just another way to do it.
Nice timeline....by the time you start putting the new 306 in Tarheel, I'll be back to posting new videos on mine. I suspect the engine is going (future tests coming), but it might, MIGHT be time to pull mine for a rebuild. I'm smelling a 306 or stroker coming...
took my heater blower housing out the same way matt showed, on my 1991 5.0 Coupe now the air blows out of the defrost vent on any setting..how do you fix that?

I def just grabbed the computer and pulled as hard as I could but that’s because it wasn’t going back in side I went with the holley lol
LMAO dude. Great freaking comment!
That Fox looks great Matt. Wanna come clean mine lol

I know right! Better just move into foxresto I suppose. 🤣
Back to the Future, love it. That is not the way I remove my CPU, hahaha.
Hah hah, you are the first to mention that, and it probably added 30 minutes to my editing LOL, but I loved it
I have a 1991 Gt convertible and believe I might have a computer issue, I am wondering does Fox Resto still rebuild them
Yes they still do. You can e-mail parts@foxresto.com or call 704-888-1278
Ck the dimmer switch for the headlight problem.
I'm currently replacing the headlight harness.
I'd put some nice led lights in the truck & cruise around in that beast. September is great driving weather in nc.
You're right about September, and that's not a bad idea.
took my heater blower housing out the same way matt showed, on my 1991 5.0 Coupe now the air blows out of the defrost vent on any setting..how do you fix that?
oh no, that's really strange as I've done this a couple of times without issue, not really sure what might be causing that

You're missing the white ECU bracket. I don't think it's a great idea to have that computer flopping around in there unmounted.
putting it back in is a a pain
It can be for sure. I was able to do this not too long ago without too much trouble though.
