Why should he? I'm sure Emi and Tec appreciated being a part of a conversation between 2 industry experts, there is a substantial amount one can gain from listening instead of speaking. Besides being able to put the spotlight on a guest is what this podcast has done for every single other guest.

meh, Ghostcrawlers the dude who took over and plummeted WoW from Cata onwards. He has so many bad takes on MMOs, especially ones regarding microtransactions. Brilliant guy and an accomplished dev no doubt, but he should stay away from MMOs.

He keeps talking about gear progression as this end all be all of an MMO. Sure, lets put some laser focus on gear progression and that'll make the MMO great, it has nothing to do with the depth of systems(what made wow so big in 2004), or previous games carrying the name(FF14) and the game. From a technical standpoint if you want an MMO to be successful this day in age, you need to innovate out the ass in a positive direction. Listen to Steven Sharif from Intrepid Studios, this guy runs circles around Ghostcrawler and he's never dev'd before in his life. But hey, he's funded with that unlimited budget Chinese money and has RIOTs platform to stand on, it'll probably retain enough players and have one hell of a launch spike, so expect to see a box cost. Don't expect anything particularly successful though in terms of a real great MMO.
Hearing Ghostcrawler speak so on the point with each topic Asmon brings up was actually cathartic for how jaded I've become about games and their general direction over the years.
Asmon just made the classic boss move of making a reunion of what it could have been an e-mail. I don’t think it wouldn’t be bad for these types of episodes to just have one interviewer, it feels uncomfortable seeing those two just filling space.

This was a bit of a miss as a podcast. As many others have already mentioned, this should've just been a one on one interview between Asmon and Ghostcrawler. It's odd to just have your co-hosts sit silently for the majority of the video. Like Emiru and Tectone speaks more in the advertisements than during the actual podcast.
agreed, i pulled up this episode on spotify, listened for 3 minutes & started wondering why it sounded like an interview, came here and noticed im not the only one. Yeah this should have been an Asmongold video, especially since his main is larger than this podcast
They don't need to say anything when 2 industry experts are providing invaluable feedback and insight into the industry. It's a privilege to see 2 educated and experienced minds exchange information and ideas back and forth.
I don't know who he is so I'm clearly not the target audience for this episode but think people like him would work better on a 1 on 1 interview on asmon's stream for example. Not a 4 person podcast where others have zero input, something to consider for future episodes :). Can't wait for next weeks episode

Wow! It isn't easy being an interviewer and Asmon knocks it out of the park. I wonder how many questions he just thought of on the fly. He creates a context, provides an example, and then asks the question. Ghostcrawler really did a good job answering questions too. I'm really impressed with this episode.
eh, i think he jumped around way too quickly. In addition to completely boxing out his co-hosts, he really should have given ghost more space to expand on some details with some follow-up questions. To be honest, it felt like he was barely listening and just eagerly waiting to ask his next question. Barely any engagement with what is probably their most famous and most esteemed guest. I was shocked.

I love hearing asmon talking and the questions were amazingly selected but I wanted to see Emi and Tec participating too and have their takes on the subject. Maybe there's a time limitation but after an hour I felt that the AFK members could interact more.

Agree with almost everything Ghostcrawler says here, except for the part at 1:11:10 where they'd rather "let the community figure out the meta" and not do frequent patches. In MMORPG's metas aren't the same as metas in RTS for example where SC BW still has meta shifts 20 years later without a single update. Metas in MMORPG's are entirely number based, if something is bad, it's always bad because of numbers, there is no community fixing bad numbers. MMORPG PvE metas are just what is the easiest and most effective strategy based on again, NUMBERS. These things are figured out almost instantly.

On the topic of FOMO, every time I came back to WoW and saw some cool thing, asked how to get it, and the answer was "you can't anymore." I just uninstalled. What a miserable feeling it is to see something cool in a game and know you'll never get it for no reason beyond "you weren't there."
Cool episode XD I am sure he will have more meetings and brainstorming about some of the questions Asmon brought up because those were great questions concerning game design. I wished that Tectone or especially Emi, because she has the least experience with mmo's, asked more about the game and vision of the game from the perspective of someone not so experienced in mmo's. I'm a huge fan of Asmon and genuinely enjoy listening to his insights on video games for hours on end (which I often do tbh). Not surprised that Asmon is the one mostly engaging Ghost I’m guessing of the 3 he’s probably the one to think more deeply about games and what makes them tick beyond the surface level fun factor.
Amazing questions. This should be like a template for any MMO developer. I would add: what's your opinion about guides where in some cases (like GW2) developers give all the new content info for contributors to prepare the wiki (WTF!?!?!) even before the content releases.

Please consider dividing up the questions among the whole cast when doing episodes like this. Such a waste of 2 peoples time by having them just sit there while another asks all the questions.

Hope they fine tune this format in the future - I'm ok with interviewing a guest from the industry, but make sure tectone and emi are up-to-date with the subject and bring their own questions
5:56 does it need PVP, wouldn't it make for an insane MMO if one just ignored PVP didn't make it part of the game and just focused heavily on good end game content for groups and solos and made an engaging and fun early game and since they wouldn't be doing work on PVP they would have more time to make the PVE Great
That's fucking dumb, pvp is what drives players to play the game when they have done all the content out there like bosses, quests and dungeons. You see, pvp can be different every time you play it, there was MMO's on the past that heavily focused on pvp and player driven content and were very successful at their time like Dark age of camelot, darkfall online, ultima online and even today with mortal online 2 and albion online.
Emi spoke at the end to say thanks and I had almost forgot what her voice sounded like….. (just saying the was very much an Asmon interview with the guest, with a couple Techy questions thrown in. Not totally a bad thing tbh, as Asmon asks amazing questions.)

Please consider dividing up the questions among the whole cast when doing episodes like this. Such a waste of 2 peoples time by having them just sit there while another asks all the questions.

5:56 does it need PVP, wouldn't it make for an insane MMO if one just ignored PVP didn't make it part of the game and just focused heavily on good end game content for groups and solos and made an engaging and fun early game and since they wouldn't be doing work on PVP they would have more time to make the PVE Great
That's fucking dumb, pvp is what drives players to play the game when they have done all the content out there like bosses, quests and dungeons. You see, pvp can be different every time you play it, there was MMO's on the past that heavily focused on pvp and player driven content and were very successful at their time like Dark age of camelot, darkfall online, ultima online and even today with mortal online 2 and albion online.
Emi spoke at the end to say thanks and I had almost forgot what her voice sounded like….. (just saying the was very much an Asmon interview with the guest, with a couple Techy questions thrown in. Not totally a bad thing tbh, as Asmon asks amazing questions.)
Is awesome to see how good Asmond is at interviews and make it feel like a conversation. Same time I think he needs to let others in 😊

Asmon is a professional at interviewing, its crazy. Just like when he interviewed the lies of P devs, he asks amazing questions at a nice pace
