    "The crowdfunding model is also increasingly popular among the right’s independent media personalities, especially as advertisers have fled RUclips over concerns about appearing alongside offensive content. Among the most successful is former Young Turks personality Dave Rubin, who raises $30,000 a month from more than 4,000 patrons for the Rubin Report, a RUclips show that has featured guests such as Cernovich, Southern, and Yiannopoulos, who tend to be shunned by more mainstream outlets. Cernovich claims he uses the $10,000 that he earns each month from 260 recurring donors to pay a staff of researchers. “The media doesn’t get to pick and choose who is going to have a platform,” he told me. Crowdfunding “has now allowed the people to do it.”"*

      Is that why welfarism and anti capitalism is so rampant?

    • @InternetMameluq
      @InternetMameluq 6 лет назад +59

      Ant Man
      No. It's why capitalism is rampant. That's why procapitalists push the idea that selfishness will result in welfare, and a system based on creating scarcity will create abundance.

    • @antman1672
      @antman1672 6 лет назад +1

      @The Sparkle Zone A system based on scarcity? Scarcity has been a part of every economic system since the dawn of man. The reason why capitalism works is that it gives incentives to work to end scarcity.

    • @InternetMameluq
      @InternetMameluq 6 лет назад +34

      'The reason why capitalism works is that it gives incentives to work to end scarcity.'
      No, the reason capitalism doesn't work is because it gives incentives to work to create scarcity.
      Capitalism gives us less potable water every year. Capitalism gives us fewer gainful jobs every year. Capitalism gives us less housing every year. Capitalism gives us less air every year. Capitalism gives us less fish in the sea every year. Capitalism gives us more starving people living on the streets every year.
      Capitalism is antithetical to abundance. You're a lying snake.
      'Scarcity has been a part of every economic system since the dawn of man.'
      So has socialism, but I don't see you suckling at its teat. Consistency does not equal basis. Just because Flint water has lead in it that doesn't make it pewter.
      But hey, why am I trying to explain these obvious things to you. You're clearly trying to be ignorant.

A society should strive to be as tolerant as possible, but you can't be completely tolerant of the intolerant because that would be inviting intolerance.
      To the extent that MAGA is a political identity it is one that is entirely rooted in intolerance, one of the key components of Trump's platform was literally a giant wall that would serve entirely as a xenophobia virtue signal. I've really liked Dave Rubin over the years. I like his show and the variety of people he has on from JP to Steven Pinker, etc. But his Post Office bit on the Joe Rogan Podcast kind of left a sour taste in my mouth. His "libertarian" ideas seem way more anarcho-capitalist now and just as "naively idealistic" as the "crazy leftists" he berates. I mean c'mon, you wouldn't want a football game with no refs, no penalties, or limitations of bad/corrupt conduct. Even if the "free market has spoken" and people love watching that type of game, and shelled out tons of money for it; it's still bad for society and we should be able to set limits on things that'll hurt us in the long run.

      You know how Christians LOVE hearing testaments from people who used to suck dick for heroin, beat their wives, and now that they stopped denying Jesus, that they've seen the light and they're saved? They LOVE hearing "conversion" stories like that from the "other side" that tells them (the audience) they've been really right all along. It doesn't matter to the audience that it is usually phony and that the person who converted to the rightwing viewpoint has a financial incentive for keeping up a certain persona, they lap it up because the point of the story isn't it's authenticity, it's how the story makes them FEEL (since these people are feeling based 100% and do not give a fuck about evidence and basic facts). This is also why they love cornball "UNNAMED ATHEIST PROFESSOR IS COMPLETELY FLUMMOXED AND AT A LOSS WHEN CREATIONIST MAKES BRILLIANT ARGUMENT AGAINST EVOLUTION!" apocryphal chain-emails your grandpa forwards to everyone.

      Dave Rubin is to American Political Conservatives what Lee Strobel is to Fundamentalist Christians. He pretends he had a "conversion" and his evidence of this conversion is the same talking points that all apologists of his nonsense use. He's a Koch yes man who pretends he was totes the enemy yo.

      MR Howard - unless people who were there upload private videos that they took at the event, I doubt that Rubin himself would upload footage from that. At least not that part.

    Brett and Eric Weinstein are actually REALLY progressive. I’ve listened to them a good bit and their politics are pretty close to someone like Sam but with a science based twist. Brett is a biologist and Eric is a mathematician so they filter their political views through those disciplines.

    I am not exactly an incel, but I feel like I can relate to them in a lot of ways, and I do think Ronald Raygun is probably right about a lot of them being on the spectrum. To Sam's last point, it doesn't make any sense for them to be so right leaning based on what the politics actually are, but the right are indeed the only ones reaching out to these men. Everyone else just laughs and scoffs at their social ineptitude and frustration, but these are highly disillusioned people who only people like Jordan Peterson are making any attempt to reach out to. IMO, this is a real shortcoming on the left where everyone considers themselves so compassionate. Loneliness and rising suicide rates among males in America is no joke, and I don't know the answer, but I personally feel a little pain when I see how men are so easily written off.

      You have this right. Jordan writes a self.help book and the left demonized him and anything associated with him.
      So because he views on religion is bat shit wrong, his book about 12 rules for life is also considered just some alt right neo nazi work, instead of expanding, discussing and demonstrsting what about the book is helpful and how we can utilize the message to help angry men.
      Like you said. The left wants to play identity politics while the extreme right actually lends out a hand to men providing answers. These answers are obviously wrong. There fucking neo naxis but at least there pretending to know answers.
      I'm a guy, so I know how men think and seen my friends inherently angry at themselves and bitter about women and the world. The left does nothing but want to convince everyone is a victim (which some are) and it's white mens fault. Then once white men are angry and feel attacked, the system has no answers psychologically, or philosophically and even acts condescending towards the men.
      Idk I'm just quickly thinking out loud here but you have it somewhat correct.

      If you want to talk about social isolation and capitalist alienation, we're here for you. If you want to talk about the evul feminazis and how women only like assholes and not "nice guys", you can go to the alt right.

      I can kind of agree with all 3 of these comments, but mostly relate to James's. I don't really know that it's the left's job to actively reach out to these guys, as all of you have said, their bitterness can make them pretty unsavory, especially when it comes to women. It's just the general disdain the left loves to hand out to these guys, and I hate to say it, but white men really are the acceptable enemy of the left because they are not "oppressed", and I say this as someone who thinks the right is generally stupid/insane.
      As far as the anger at women, I don't know how much effort you have put toward trying to meet women, randomflashbacks, but after spending so much time and energy only to be turned down again and again, your choices start to feel like either viewing yourself as worthless trash and utter failure, or undermine the validity of the opinions of those who shun you. It's pretty simply sour grapes. Usually what happens is some mixture of both. I have definitely dealt with these feelings, and while I don't go online and vent all my rage in a ridiculous way, I also feel I have been a little bit luckier than a lot of these guys. I can see how actively venting your hatred of the world online could start to feel justified, despite whether or not it actually is.
      And every time you hear about women's issues and rights and feminism and how men are oppressive and controlling women and how their wages at the top echelon is not as high as men's, it really does create resentment. I am not oppressing women!! I am powerless!! In fact, women seem to have all the power over me in the general social dynamics of my day to day. As far as I can see, they are way better off than me, so fuck their issues, because no one cares about mine. At least that's where the feelings start to go.
