- This is my first playthrough of Mission 7 of The Final Shape Campaign called Iconoclasm. The final boss encounter had a few deaths as you'll see in the death montage, but I left those in to show you my struggles. Long fight but it just takes a little patience. After the first subjugator make sure to keep that darkness shield buff on you at all times, be ready for the prismatic enemies to come out about half way through as well to start using that transcendent energy spot. Red Death really worked well here with the smaller adds to help with my health, but that Stasis Shatter on the first subjugator can be brutal. You don't want to get hit with the full Witness attack as I think that will finish you off as well. Hope this helps show you the way and good luck, final cut scene is pretty epic.

You're a God send for casual players like myself who get in over their head playing this game! So many content creators for this game breeze through guides and make suggestions for weapons guys like me don't have just assuming that everyone has everything by now 😕
for every guardian trying to solo it on legendary, here's the perfect load out and strat. The Call sidearm, will 1 shot ads, your choice of 2ndary and for the Heavy, an this is a must. Dragons Breathe is needed. and a good swarm granade. phase 1, burn the subjugator down with your heavy, use the relic, repeat until dead, dodging the witness and killing ads, no rush. 2 phase and this is a bich, stay on the right side (facing the witness) in the area where the relic spawns, ads and sub won't go in there, burn him down while throwing grenades and remember to keep your debuff on, and pace yourself, you'll def solo it with that strat. Good Hunting!
Was on a FT and was trying to let them know this strategy, and one just kept running out and dying... after 4 times restarting from last save with the same guy kept going out and dying.. FTL just went back to orbit and left fireteam... LOL.. so did I..
This fight was so rough on a hunter for me. I almost gave up and lowered the difficulty just to finish the campaign, but managed to beat it with two strategies: 1) bring Dragon's Breath for "fire and forget" damage on the subjugators that also does AOE to the ads, and 2) once on stage 2 of the strand subjugator, just focus on getting transcendent and keeping up the protection against darkness. There were passes where I don't think I managed much if any damage, but I kept my buff on and made it to the other side of the arena to stay away from the ads that chase you. Dragon's Breath + Transcendent was super helpful to pop shields behind corners in an AOE as well.
I kept trying to brute force the 2nd phase of the strand subjugator fight until I looked in the aegis room. You can live in the right aegis room and constantly regenerate transcendence. While in that room, you can refresh your shield buff by alternating between the "nut" in the room, and another "nut" about halfway down the length, and outside of the room, whose sphere extends into the room: just shoot through the bars while standing in its luminous borders. EZ cheese.
Listening for the audio cues helped a lot: learn to differentiate between the "shriek" when the Witness materializes, and the "schwing" when he unleashes his blade attack.
I had to give up on my legendary run, only to figure this out in the normal run.. The fight after knowing this bit of cheese was much, much easier.

@@pelarinbacosiii448 Same as I say, I had to get to the point of giving up and completing it on normal first. And I'd like to think I'm a patient man!
We had issues coming out of the second shield bubble. There was always someone to kill us or pull us with strand. Our last run there was absolutely no enemies in front of us. Smooth sailing after that.

Nicely done! It was interesting to see how you went about it. Some of your comments made me chuckle! And those spike grenade placements were pretty good, too! GGs for the guide.
BTW: I found that when on the ogre / VoG relic / Hive Knights section (around 25:00), hopping-up on the base of the statues (either side of the total floor area works) beside the 'bees nest' was an excellent 'safe' spot, from where, I could blat the knights and other creatures, and, renew my 'darkness' buff, as desired. It made things a bit easier, for this old 'vanilla-build' tortoise. Cheers!
Massive high five for the guide! I have Osteo Striga at Level 777 - and the poison really helped take down those Subjugators. I know not everyon'e's fav weapon, but the Pre Astanaz IV bow took out Grims etc with surrounding fire damage. Your tips on strategy were a huge help.

Dude, thank you so much, I got caught in a couple places and you're videos showed me that the bosses I was stuck on I was either trying to kill them too fast or trying to do it too slow. Literally Every time I tried several times and couldn't get it, I'd get it on the next try after watching you do it. Thank you.
I know I'm a few months late but iconoclasm isn't too bad on hunter. If you have the exotic that makes your golden gun shots into one equip that. Use stasis nade and weaken snare bomb. For weapons all you need is the call strand rocket side arm for kinetic, red death reformed or graviton lance for elemental and a good linear fusion rifle or rocket launcher. shoot any rushing grim with the pulse rifles and use the call for the orange bars. For the strand and stasis bosses, run and hide behind the pillars when you see them activate their supers and peak out and shoot them with your rockets until they go down to half health. When you have to shoot those orbs for 30 secs of protection from the poison, go to one of those rooms where the shield spawns. There will be two of them and you can run back and forth shooting them whenever you need to. Those rooms protect you from everything and the witness can't kill you if you actually stay in the room.
This last boss was way better than fighting Galrahn in lightfall. I had like triple the amount of deaths in lightfall last mission because of of being knocked off.
From 24:25. I’ve been stuck here for over an hour on BRAVE difficultly. I’ve tried every build including prismatic. And every time something different kills me. If it’s not the darkness orbs it’s the knights, if its not the yellow bar knights it’s the ads. I’ve played since D1 Beta and this is the first campaign on standard difficulty that’s beaten me. IMHO the entire DLC is a long Raid. For someone who sucks at puzzles and juggling mechanics, it’s been a nightmare. I’m throwing the towel in and reluctantly having to use fireteam finder. There’s NO WAY I’m doing this again solo. It’s reminded me why I don’t Raid. 😂 Another youtuber TDT said “I have a Stockholm syndrome relationship to Destiny” I couldn’t agree more.
Brave is Legendary? I've been playing through on legendary and that ogre (name like "dogbreath") was relatively chill compared to some of the earlier encounters. Died a few times mostly because I became complacent. The stock prismatic snare grenade takes care of the duo inside the taken blights - was mostly a one shot.
Mistakes I made: not taking care of the ads first (ogre and knights are slow and easy to avoid). Forgetting that the ogre blast has a knock-back that will push you off the edge if you jump around too much.
I've been playing d2 less than a year and this was much easier than Lightfall campaign - and more fun. Calus was tedious on normal and super annoying on legendary.

I didn't know about the standing in the light spot for the shield so thanks for that guardian.
Finally just beat this after over a week of failure 😅, here's a few tips! Use stasis mod to reduce ice damage, I stacked all 3, use a Machine Gun for heavy it melts the subjugator! Save your super for second damage phase of subjugator after breaking its shield... When you get to the Strand subjugator stay in the hallway just inside the entrance where the shield spawns, the witness attack won't kill you and the adds stop at the door way, there is also a relic to renew your buff in there and one right outside there! But don't waste time as you can only use the same relic to renew buff I think twice! I'm a casual player with *NOTHING* special and I beat it so its definitely doable! 😄

Great series, thank you. I had a hard time figuring how I got one shot late in the last fight. For anyone still struggling on legendary, you don't have to use prismatic in the campaign. I bailed out of it in the Dissent mission and in this last fight. You can use the prismatic pools available, activate it when ready and shoot the bound enemies with your gun or hit them with abilities/AoE super etc. I used Strand Maelstrom hunter especially in that last fight because I felt like I needed woven mail and the decoys. Frost armor was kind of terrible for survivability in that fight. Died so many times coming out of the second shielding phase vs the strand subjugator boss. I either got yanked forward by adds coming out of the bubble, suspended, got down to 1 hp due to poison air and getting hit with The Witness's one shot attack.
The trick I found with that second shield phase is to stay shielded until you get the notification on the left side of the screen that the Witness' AoE attack is ending and start heading for cover in the right side room where you pick up the shield. Like others have mentioned there are two nuts nearby you can shoot to maintain your antipoison buff, a prismatic pool, and decent cover as long you strafe out of the strand pulls. They can slam you right into the grates. Pick off ads, be patient and kill off the bound guys as they come out to the entrance. The strand subjugator boss will hang out right across from the entrance of the room. Melt his face with Dragon's Breath or Linear, just don't get greedy :).

@Ebontis, thanks for showing me how to finally beat this last mission. By the way the answer to your question about the dreads, they show up in the Vanguard Strikes and I think in Gambit as well.
You said your super wasn't doing enough, I used the Prismatic Golden Gun with Celestial Nighthawk. Did 75% of Subjugators health in 1 headshot(while Radiant of course)

Nice run. Took me forever to find some of those hidden passageways. You had some of the same reactions I did in those creepy places. But they were great. I was also using Red Death. It is a work horse.

I've been playing since Destiny 1 and in my opinion The Final Shape is by far the best campaign I've played. Playing on ledgend is really challenging, but for this one, I used The Call and Dragon's Breath for a lot of the cooking
From a Storytelling standpoint yeah it's the best. In terms of feel and difficulty I preferred the Witchqueen Legendary Campaign. But overall I still think The Taken King had the best.
Thanks for a great set of vids, I got through most relatively easy on legendary EXCEPT this final battle, I just had my hundredth death.! had to just walk away. I’m a Titan main and found that this was quite tough with Titan prismatic aspects etc mostly melee based and in this ya can’t go out in open and start punching everything. Haven’t seen a Titan vid yet lol no wonder. So waiting on that and maybe a little cheese
Only 7 Deaths at all ... WOW, I am both impressed and intimidated 😂 cause it took me quite some attempts to finish the final fight/whole mission. Ok, while you´re a better player than me, I assume you were hopefully a bit more lucky when it came to the point of being one-shotted (with 100+ Resil & full health)
I've died 33 times and I still have the final encounter to go, countless deaths being thrown off the edge by the taken-shield dudes in the blights.
Edit: 33 times before the final fight and I'm at 34 now, when I went for the Strand Subjector I forgot all about the Witnesses Sword Attack
Edit 2: 75 total deaths with 76 being the run that cleared.

Going in this last mission buzzed so hopefully I remember to pick up buffs and the right things to kill stuff...so far the campaign has been decent! I'm a titan main myself but Been playing hunter a lot recently.
Deterministic Chaos is really good for the first half of this mission. at the end i used Witherhoard, a scout & Apex Predator (or any rocket) to be behind cover more & also melt faster
IDK why but I had such a hard time with the Ogre boss. The giant Hive Knights in the glyph room took me out every time.
Has anyone else had trouble with the boss fight as a fire team? Besides the ice boss being super tank, the game seems to find new ways to kill us.
My cousin had to pull me to the boss fight. No chance I could do that ascending. But wanted to see what he had to do to get to the boss fight. I hate most of the jumping puzzles in the game.
I missed out on all of lightfall's weapons and armor. This final boss is going to be the end of me! lol

Once you get the relic (shield) how do you shoot it? I swear I’m having the hardest time. (PS5) Another question, a fire team of 3, how many lives do you get before you can’t revive your team mate? (Which sucks by the way)
I enjoyed it but i had no idea what i was doing 😂 I just used brute force using that brave grenade launcher and spammed it😅

So I grab the shield, I break his shield, I pop super, grab shield again because ghost yells at me to do so and I die. 3x in a row. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I enjoyed the campaign but i always feel they are too sure and dont flesh out the story enough , i know the story is all in the lore books but i just feel it couldve been a bit more 😅

Hate this campaign. Cheap deaths getting booped off ledges and having to start encounter over again. I just want it to be over so I can never do it again. This is all the reasons I don't do dungeons all rolled into and unskippable campaign.

I switched to normal because I didn't feel like doing the grind as I did previously. I wanted to see the story to see if I keep playing or not.
Casual opinions from casual players are irrelevant. You are whining as if somehow you’re being forced to play or Bungie should cater to your lack of skill. That’s what’s wrong with the world people want something they haven’t earned, it’s a game it’s supposed to be challenging not a cakewalk. That said the devs still laid plenty of landscaping for endless cover while you navigate each encounter. I haven’t touched this game in a year, yet still ran all my characters using old void builds for the legendary campaign. Either learn to play to your skill level or just git gud, Lol.
