  • After fleeing King's Landing Queen Rhaenyra found every door closed to her as she looked for refuge on the was to the port town of Duskendale. But even when they were granted access to the Dun Fort, the queen and her party were told not to linger long. The queen needed to get back to Dragonstone and the safety of her own seat and high walls and most important of all the last few men loyal to her. But this assumed safety was about to come crashing down on the queen as the dance of the dragons to yet another dark turn.
The Dance Of The Dragons will be the focus of the plot of the new HBO spin-off House Of The Dragon coming in 2022. So if you want to learn the story before we see HBO's take on it then this will be a very long-running series. Game Of Thrones / House of the dragon are HBO shows based on George R R Martin's A Song Of Ice And Fire series. The information in this video comes from the books a world of ice and fire as well as fire and blood.

Rhaenyra was such a poor leader. She kept her huge dragon Syrax out of the war. She underestimated the rioters at Kings Landing, and she ruled from a place of fear and paranoia as evidenced by imprisoning Corlys and trying to imprison Addam of Hull. Just letting Joffrey patrol the skies of Kings Landing with Tyraxes may have been enough to prevent the riots. So many missed chances.

If only Rhaenerya had gone to the Vale, history might have been a bit different. Sunfyre was nearly dead, Aegon was on his last leg, and Rhaenerya had the support of the fresh North and Vale. She could have came back and took Kingslanding with a larger army, while Aegon rotted on Dragonstone.

The worst part about all of this is that even near the end Aegon III still had the spirit to fight for his mother, as seen when he picked up the dead knights sword, but moments later his will and spirit is just completely crushed when his mother is killed, and in many ways Aegon died as well, he was still present but obviously he was a Brocken man far before ever becoming one

Well..that takes care of Rhaenyra. Makes you wonder if Aegon II expected to remain alive after this..Perhaps this was just petty revenge .. He might have known that he would die too and wanted to have the last laugh "after you, you are the elder". The point is..after this tragedy, neither Rhaenyra or Aegon were very "loved" by Westerosy History. Aegon III was a broken king and the Targaryen Kings after him lost their majesty and strength..along with their dragons. House Targaryen true downfall..was here.

If Rhaenyra fled to the Vale she would have been fine, had she run to Cregan he might well have executed her or handed her over to get in with the Greens. Cregan was playing his own game, never committing to either side and purposefully delaying his own entry until he was safely on the winning side and could not be charged of defying any King or Queen. I suspect he was in on the hit on Aegon later, as it might have been a little awkward to oppose any ruler.
I know folks want to like him 'cause he's a Stark (for some reason or maybe due to fondness for Ned, Robb & Jon), but he just doesn't strike me as much different from Walder or Tywin, or Baelish. He was a canny player who sent a token force south earlier in the war and never joined in himself.
The Vale was where Rhaenyra doubtless would have found safety though. She also should have left a larger force to guard Dragonstone. But all around this war was a race to the bottom between her and Aegon, as neither of them seemed particularly bright or talented. With the two of them no matter what I suppose likely to fall after the deaths of the true power behind them (Daemon & Aemond respectively).

If a kings word is law then it should BE law(otherwise a "kings law" is only their for as long as the king is alive. Kinda like how with Elizabeth 1st, she was ONLY queen as long as she was alive, after that it went back to the MALE line)
So in other words a kings law is only law as long as he lives, not to mention some of the lords of 101 died, it's not like these oaths was meant to be passed to their children (as the Warden Of the west, it's lord Lannister said)
