Pele would be even better today with the help players receive. What matters is skill, and Pele had perfect skills. He had no flaws, no imperfections as a player, he could anything and everything on the pitch, as those who saw him and playing against him! If it was easy to score 1280 goals, win 3 world cups and the first one at 17 then many players would have the career of Pele. Nobody is even close, that says it all!
it is almost impossible to compare players of today and then, now football is more technical and physical in those times it was more basic. Also remember Pele scored 100 goals in the brazilian league where everything is offense and defence is not that good; if he played in Europe like Maradona, he wouldnt have scored that many goals
Johnny Mancini defense not that good? in Pele's time the Brazilian League had some of the best defenders ever: Carlos Alberto, Nilton Santos, Djalma Santos, Elias Figueroa! Pele scored even more against European and other opposition, vs Beckenbauer, Eusebio, Bobby Moore, Banks, and all the world stars. He surpassed them all easily. If it was that easy then many many players would have 1200 goals and 3 world cups among other records that Pele had....
55bructrax i agree he is very good but the way defenses play is differrent; now they are more tactical and accurate than before where everything was more rigid. And also European club footbal is diferent than European national temas footbal. And Brazilian league/soccer has always been very oriented to offensive footbal
Johnny Mancini Pele scored 204 goals in 193 games vs European clubs, most them Away games in Santos famous world tours. Yes Brazilian football is offensive, but so is German Bundesliga, English League, Dutch League, La Liga and even Argentinian League were say Maradona scored a lot... And if it is so offensive and "easy" then how come no Brazilian player of his time was even close to 1200 goals, 3 world cups etc?...
Again; he is a beast one of the best players in the world but my point is: you cannot compare players of different "eras" the play styles and tactics were much too different
Many people here saying that Pele is overrated dont know the fact that Pele spent most of his carrier playing football without yellow and red cards...Now,when you realise what I just wrote, type that he's overrated again. If u have a heart.
@@chumleychum but look at this it's just like you say in 50 years that messi played with farmers.he played with good players but just like with pele that players aren't remembered so he won 3 world cups and as a atcking midfielder scored maybe 770 goals, but ronaldo hole his career played as a striker and messi started playing as I right winger 10 years after hi start of career, also pele had so much less games because he couldn't play to 40's ,,like ronaldo"but ronaldo used chemic to stay in football pele didn't had steroids so he had about 400 games and 770 goals so when you start writing something please start thinking about what you will write.i don't hate you or something so just to say facts
I remember this video when I was only 9 years old, I always have loved Pele, especially being brazilian I’m blessed I saw this at a young age especially in this generation , Valeu Pele❤️
I see a lot of haters below. The guy was a great player and that's it. He had good skills and that's that. Don't hate appreciate, jealousy is a disease of the soul. No good.
As I was born in 2001, I wasn't granted the privelege of watching this legend play. This was before diving was popular, and this was the Era where legitimate soccer took off, thanks to Pele. People who didn't know a thing about soccer knew who Pele was, he was that great. Fortunately, I have youtube as an outlet to watch this man play. Thanks Pele for revolutionizing soccer and making it truly a world wide sport.
+Josh Coffey Haha Yes, we are gifted in watching these modern footballers play. But many regard Pele as one of the best footballers ever to step foot on the pitch, and I truly wish I could see him play in his prime. Luckily we still have players like Ronaldo, and Messi, and we can see the skill in them.
One single man made a brazilian club the best in the world. In that era Santos F.C destroyed all european clubs and Brazil have turned the best national team of all time because of Pelé then people should respect him.. even Fifa knows he's the king.
Santos wasnt only Pelé at all. Santos in this time had the best team alongsife with Botafogo. almost all the Brasil national team was made from this 2 teams.
everyone is saying pele-era was weaker, they say the same thing for wilt chamberlain or k.a.jabbar-basketbal era,i was born 1983 and i watched far more modern than old stuff but i did my homework considering old stuff and i can tell you one thing - injuries from older eras were far more brutal than those from modern era in any sport
My grandad told me that him and Pele are childhood best friend. He even showed me a pic of them two. Like wow I cant believe Pele my granduncle and ny grandad best friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And Englishman who thinks he's not the greatest and dislikes the man as a person, we shouldn't support someone who constantly demises others and makes people feel small.
People are saying that the defenders that Pelé played against are rubbish are seriously forgetting the calibre of players back in that era: Beckenbauer, Moore, Facchetti, Nilton Santos just to name a few. Pelé would make a mockery out of them all without any problems. He was deadly, this was in the period when you could absolutely clatter players without yellow/red cards. The likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi wouldn't survive in that era. No disrespect to them, they're both world class players and the greatest of this generation but they both have nothing on Pelé. Pelé is the greatest of all time in my opinion.
naa dixie dean is 60 in one season (just the league) and he played in times where what you said where worse than peles and he was playing in a team a few seasons before where fighting relegation and he made them league champions in England harder league harder time better player dixie dean>pele
considering he died before i was ruins ur theory dixie team matespeles 58 dixies league>peles league dixies injury's where worse than pele and he still scored more in one season also did pele get in a motorbike accident and told he could never play again and then recover and make a goal scoring record of 60 let me remind u 60 is a higher number than 58 therefore harder to achieve
SoccerKid615 no offence to them, I love watching them play, (apart from Ibrahimović) are miles ahead of anyone else, and they're an inspiration to our generation but come on, look at how much it takes Ronaldo in particular to fall to the ground in seemingly blood-curdling pain? And that's coming from an avid Manchester United supporter. Granted, Messi doesn't as much but they wouldn't survive the brutality. That's my opinion, correct me if I'm wrong friend.
No question pele is better. Actully pele is easily the best player that has ever lived. Hes better then neymar, messi, saurez, ronaldo he is the best, graetest, most skillful player that is on the planet.
yes he is dude, any footballer that plays right now is on a 10 times higher lvl than the ones pele faced at his time. There's easily 100 players in history that are better than Pele was.
-João Saldanha(Brazil's coach in 1969): "If you ask me who the best fullback in Brazil is, I'd say Pelé, if you ask me who the best half-back or winger is, I would say Pelé. He is probably even our best goalkeeper. He is like no footballer ever has been, or is ever likely to be."
Today's Pele would be Messi even though Messi is a lot better. Pele had it easy, Messi has more of a challenge. Today's GK's and Defenders are a lot better.
I have to disagree like someone sd before on this site there were no yellow or red cards to keep the player from being kick and hit from the other team. It was fast & furious back in 1969 & 1970.= Pele is Pele no there is no one in Futbol that will ever match him and perform like him. I like Messi but Messi needs to win the World Cup good luck to Argentina !!
What Pele did was amazing. Talent and skill are regardless of era. His ball control, passing, finishing is incredible. He was perfect like all who saw him live agree. Ask Lippi, Capello, Trapatoni, Cruyff, Beckenbauer, Menotti, Di Stefano, Ardiles, Passarella. Athlete of the Century and if it was easy as some ignorants say, then MANY PLAYERS would have Pele's records!!! Pele would be even better today with the modern shoes, ball, good pitches etc. In his time there were no yellow cards, no subs allowed, and he played 3-4 games a week, because Santos was travelling all over the world for people to see him! Best ever easily!
Who Evers says pele is shit or Messi is better keep in mind that Pele was the one who created the bicycle kick one of the most skilful moves on football so you have no idea what your on about
+hello walkman Leonidas himself claimed that Petronilho de Brito (the guy who discovered Pele) invented the bicycle kick but it probably was a much older invention. The earliest claim is in Peru at the port of Callao by an unnamed player of African decent. We'll probably never know for certain, but whoever invented it deserves a pat on the back.
PLEASE, kids that never touched a ball and spend all day on video games, avoid commenting here. Futebol didnt started at 2006, the tricks you see Neymar doing people used to do back on the 70s and if Cristiano Ronaldo kick the old days heavy leather balls he would probably break his foot.
TheButtonMashers Zidane is better than Maradona and Pelé but he's not as good as Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. Ppl underestimate how much football evolved, players from the 60 or the 80 wouldn't be able to keep up with what we have now.
The problem with comparisons is: there are no comparisons. What was unique about Pelé was his ability of doing absurdly and absolutely every kind of goal possible and play in every style imaginable. No youtube clip will capture that, he made more than 1000 goals. He would do whatever the fuck he wanted with the ball and the opponent, constantly, frequently, every single match, with no breaks. He had no mercy. Opponents say on their biographies they were actually genuinely scared from Pelé. So when you come with Messi, Pelé would play like him on Fridays when he felt like. On odd weekends he would play like Ronaldo or Ronaldinho, when he was really bored he would play like Maradona.
These defenders were a joke. Jost look at that disorganization. He wouldn’t get too far nowadays with that hook faint. Only one legged too. He would be almost at zlatans level but noowhere near messi or ronaldo. His top speed is probably soooooo much slower. And ronaldo jumps waaaaaaay highr etc... i could go alll day:)
TO ALL THE KIDS COMPARING MESSI & PELÉ: You cannot compare Messi & Pelé. You just can't. Because without Pelé, modern football would be nothing. Messi would be nothing if football wasn't revolutionized. Also, Pelé didn't have any sort of official trainer. His trainer was himself. Football was way different in the 1960s. If Pelé was raised up in the modern days, than I guarantee that he will play better because he would have more facilities, he would have more training and he would be better. Face it. Without Pelé and the legends that revolutionized football, defenders in modern football would play like they would in this vid. Attackers will play in a really boring way with uncreative passing and no innovation. Pelé made football interesting and a sport that would be fun to play and that's why he's a legend.
Just because Pele was first, does not mean you cannot compare!! Lebron gets compared to Kobe and Jordan, Kobe was compared to Jordan, and Jordan was compared to Dr. J. Being first does not mean you get automatic pass forever to being the "best." You will be considered a legend, and a pioneer, but not automatically the best. Why do we compare Messi to Pele? Because just look! Messi has a lot of Pele's game, but Messi is in the modern era breaking records, while playing very similar to Pele and Maradona's styles.
Pelé was a few seconds ahead of the moment, knew what the opponent would do or how he would react, was very fast, no one ran like him, smart as few, all this made him the greatest of all, with a domain of mouth that I only saw the same with Ronaldinho Gaucho
he only won one world cup the other two garrincha won it. He only scored 1000 goals because there was no offside rule and played against poor incompetent Brazilian teams. His numbers should have been a lot lower!!!
Legolas king Brazilian league was the best at that time, and pele had the same goal ratio against european team. Every player of the brazil national team were playing in brazilian league, so basicaly all the best player were playing there, and pele was playing against them. And if it was so easy why the other brazilian don’t have his number/stats ? Even legend like cruyff, rivera, moore, ronaldo, puskas ect said he was the best. Pele toyed with legendary defender like beckembauer, the only defender in history with 2 ballon d’or, you can see video on youtube of pele nutmeging him. So no pele isn’t overated, he is one of the best with Messi, cr7, Ronaldo, ronaldinho, maradonna, zidane, neymar, henry ect.
"No doubt, pele is the greatest footballer ever. You have to see that there is no mistakes in brazil when pele played. He knows that how to dribble, tackle and strike. He is the king of football.''But,I have a question to know that why the people dislike the videos of pele?
Pelé the greatest. 3 world cups, most goals and assists combined in world cups. He made a massive difference to the results of already very good Brazil teams, compared with his absence (something many don't realise). Huge number of goals, great all-round player, athleticism, shot, dribbling, heading, vision, two footed.. Before him Brazil had never won the world cup, and not for another 24 years after him. He made Santos best team in the world. Thanks to him, Santos dominated other Brazilian clubs with great players. He remains top scorer in the Intercontinental (world club) Cup finals. He destroyed the top European clubs AC Milan and Benfica in those finals, with hat-trick in Benfica. He had a great scoring record in cup finals, and against European clubs and countries. He was declared an official national treasure by the Brazilian government and so was not allowed to play for a club abroad till the end of his career. In his time, anyway, South American clubs were easily a match for European, something today's generation also don't realise. It is thanks to the likes of Pelé that football has progressed; he was a footballing giant, both for his ability and achievements in his time, and for his historical importance to the game.
mizofan Maradona? Sent off in one world cup, cheated in another, disgraced in another. Disgraced for drugs again at Napoli, Admitted taking performance enhancing drugs when Argentina qualified for 1994 world cup. Had poor scoring record in cup finals and for Napoli in European competitions. Never won the top continental cup for clubs or country, despite playing for the likes of Boca Juniors, Barcelona and Argentina which has won Copa America 14 times. Contrary to myth, he made hardly any difference to Argentina's results compared with his absence. In fact in his career they won a world cup and 2 Copa America without him, no Copa America with him. His scoring record was worse than midfielders Zico and Platini (and Neymar is currently doIng better too), and Platini was a much greater general. Messi is comfortably better than Maradona, as was the great visionary master of total football Cruyff, but not better than Pelé. He still has time to equal or even surpass Pelé but must do more for Argentina.
And people want to belittle old's Brazil teams. They say that nowadays football is another level. well, that is not what I see, and Pele has always been above any level. King!
Zico in 2014: “No doubt, Pele is the greatest ever. When God built Pele, he put everything that a player needs in him. He knew how to shoot, how to dribble, how to head, be physical. He had everything that a football player needs to have. It’s difficult for someone to achieve what he has in football. Tactically, technically, physically, mentally he was the best. A lot of things that I learnt was from Pele’s sticker albums: how to head, how to shoot the ball. It was like a step-by-step guide. I learnt from Pele as a kid.” www.goal.com/en/news/7130/hall-of-fame-2014/2014/11/17/6232061/zico-pele-was-the-greatest-of-all-time
Pele scored 500 goals against amateur level teams..when he played TOP professional teams his strike rate was worse than Olivier Girouds....Messi the the best.....Messi plays when the football quality is the highest its ever been..he plays against the best defences.....he scores the most goals.
I know that when the world cup comes around he will need to do more and will need to score some goals to really underline his class for Argentina at a world cup, but for me there is no question he already deserves to be seen as one of the best ever. He has achieved so much at club leel and even though he has played along some very good players for Argentina, the sides have always had their weaknesses, which have led to their downfall.
Sports science moves on and each era is better than the previous one. That said, for me Maradona was the best - if ever one man dragged his team to glory, it was him. Brazil was a World Cup winning team with or without Pele. The best football I have ever seen was Ronaldinho for those short few years when he was at the top of his game, but that was a much later era.
First of all it is the most retarded thing to punish a player for his "great teammates". it is not his fault and that has nothing to do with individual skill. with that logic Messi cant be the best either, being surrounded by players who can win World Cups and Euros without him.... Argentina was also a world cup winning team without maradona (1978). with him the same players failed in 1982. Argentina won 1991 and 1993 copa america without him and confederations cup 1992 also, and with him they flopped in all three copa america that he played (1979, 1987, 1989) Brazil failed in 1966 without Pele(injured), so did his teammates in 1954, 1974, 1978 (Didi, Gilmar, Nilton, Rivelino, Jairzinho) Brazil had never won a WC before Pele and won again 24 years after her retired... You forget club level: Pele won everythig with Santos, a team that did nothing before and after him. Maradona was good only at Napoli. Pele had perfect skills, which is all that matters in the end.
The point is what pele made was way ahead of his time, these dribblings only could do a maradona or a messi..so it means pele made dribblings that a messi do nowdays for example he had a football style and ballcontrol like no one else ...his shots are perfect when i see with a damn good precision...and stop comparing messi to pele, you can do it if he lead his team to a world cup title at least
Inst it weird how in the past there were people who were so good in what they did nobody come's close to there skills today Like Pele, Bruce Lee,Muhammad Ali/Rocky Marciano,
Nobody comes close to Pele? Lol. Ronaldo and Messi came close and arguably surpassed. Ali? Hmmm, hard to say, different eras, so many great boxers to come along. Bruce Lee.... ok, I'll give you that one!!!
have you watched the video? todays defenders would destroy pele most likely and wtf were the goalkeepers doing? todays football players and goalkeepers are so much better than the old ones
sad thing is lots of the 1000 goals pele scored in his career have been lost . This is just a small part of his goals he scored, people call messi a genius the real genius was pele.
@@jaydhillon4960 Brazil league is trash today, back on Pelé era Brazilian league was at world class level, Pelé wasn't there winning every trophy he desputed, shit was balanced, but of course this is to much information for a poser football fan like you to know.
@@jaydhillon4960 Tostão, Jairzinho, Garrincha, Gerson, Nilton Santos, Paulo Falcão, Carlos Alberto torres, go watch some of those names that played against Pelé on the Brazilian League and then comeback here you poser.
And yes he showed is alien class also in the world cup against the best defenders in the world...i remember saying neymar would fail when he plays in europe, its the same with pele when he play also in europe he had owned everyone and im sure if pele plays nowdays football he will be the best without a doubt...best player ever (even better than maradona i think, but that is really hard to say..)
He was the best in his era, way ahead of his time with such amazing skill. Comparing him to the players today is more or less the same as comparing a phone in the 80s to phones nowadays. They've both been amazing at their time. Simple.
Pele had perfect balance and foresight with the ball. If he played soccer today he would have been even much better than the legend that he is. Stats are facts and idolizing is for dreamers.
+sleepybrown987 Their incredible records (more than 1000 goals for Pelé more than 100 goals in one match for Chamberlain) are very representative of the bad defense at the time. But they are still amazing records !!
Why are people comparing Pele to Messi and Ronaldo saying Ronaldo and Messi "IS" much better than Pele... It`s like comparing The Spitfire (worlds fastest plane during ww2) towards the F-16... When Pele played, Messi and Ronaldo werent even born... they had completely different training excercises, tactics etc.. Idiots.
Agreed Pele is a renowned player especially with his records, but he was ahead of his era football has changed a lot in 30 years... defense and keepers are much better than they used to be for sure
@Rizzle, further indication that the Brazilian league is really good is that four years in a row four different Brazilian teams have either won the CLib or reached the final(Atl Mineiro this year) It shows you how many teams are good in Brazil and that things change a lot from year to year. One year one team is the best, the next another.
Pele would still be better if someone had the exact skills as him now, he grew up playing soccer with grapefruit and he is still considered the best player of all time because of how passionate he was.
And this is one of the funniest statements I hear all the time, roughly wording like this. 'Pele only won because he had excellent players around him in Brazil'. I'll rephrase the meaning of this, to break in such a talented side and excel in the world cup at 17, as well as break in the squad at just 16, shows the legacy of the man.
Man you cant compare Pele to any other footballer,it's mad how people are comparing him to Messi,Ronaldo,Neymar etc because he created skills,if it wasn't for him Ronaldo wouldn't be doing his step overs,Messi wouldn't be dropping his shoulder.People need to think about comparing Pele to other footballers.
Matthews played into his 50s because he was a fitness FANATIC: a lifestlye that he learned from his boxer father. He also had six or seven seasons off from the official 1st Div. during the war and it saved his body from those years of wear and tear in a VERY physical league.
CRazy, the movie where he dummied the keeper has still not been repeated.............................just watched his highlights for th efirst time and trust he's the best ive seen
+Evan Hu are you serious?! difficult isn't even a factor, look through history, NOBODY has scored like pele did, heck go back 100 years ago, I'd argue it was harder because pitches, ball quality were so much lower
Pele has only played in the Brazilian league and the MLS PLUS defensive tactics back then were crap so not only was pele playing in an easy league the tactics sucked, even in good leagues like la liga
Pele and Maradona is to football what Muhamed Ali is to boxing truely beautiful to watch in 20 years time when you mention Ronaldo or Messi no one will care but Pele and Maradona will never be forgotten
@@lillyh156 sorry mate Brazil hadn't won a world cup in 25 YERAS after Pele came in and won that one for them. And one more thing did you know Pele stoped a war? If not go learn more about history and comeback here later
Pele - Seventeen and scored two goals in the World CUP Finals , In my opinion he was the GOD of Modern Football , Through Pele's history and awe that he brought to football is why many great players were created
I always admired Pele. Because he was the most amazing footballer ever. Not even Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo could play like him. LONG LIVE KING PELE!!!😎👊
lmao .. i was like "WTF who uses this song in these days" then i saw it was uploaded 12 years ago in 2007 ah .. the good old youtube and its cheesy videos
pele was the best player in the world in the seventies and he is now. i dont belive that anyone is better than him even ronaldo, ribery, bale or messi ;)
No they would not because they would play with different ball, shoes, no yellow cards, and would not have the tech help of today, Messi would not even be pro without the HGH treatment. Pele was a flawless player, Messi and CR are not, he had simply more skills than them, thats too obvious hater!
55bructrax hahahah don't make me laugh. Playing with eavier balls actually is easier , you get better accuracy with shots. Have you ever played with one of these balls and saw the differences with the new ones? Shoes.. can't make a big difference also. The only thing they had to deal with is more tackles , but in the case of Messi , he would already be 5 meters away from the defender if he tried to tackle him. Football was easier back then.
***** i agree with you too, the new balls are more acurate. I prefer to play with the new balls. An heavy ball is more difficult to control and you have shoot 'stronger' (i dont know how to say this, im brazilian), today the new balls are 'full' of technology. Pelé was born to play soccer, he is the god of this sport, but a few people like to disagree. Is their opinion, of course, but they are wrong!
WTF, okay first of all if you haven't watched t.v in a while then you probably don't know that Maradona took steroids his entire career and nobody has seen him play without it ever since. After the world cup of 1990 he had a drug test and was suspended a few months from soccer/futbol. But with Pele he was proven all NATURAL...besides, Maradona was around the time Pele was playing too so what's the difference? So the real comment is lets see Maradona in his original old soccer body and watch him play now in the present without DRUGS!!!
I can't see where the bad defending is on this video to be honest, they are doing what defenders should be doing staying goalside and trying to fathom out Pele's next move but can't do anything and are powerless to stop a genius.Bad defending is rife in todays game, just check out out Bayern's defending against Real 2 days ago, simply horrendous by leaving men free to head home, basic stuff really. And the wall which parted/jumped to allow an average free kick by Ronaldo to go all the way to the net.3>0.Amen.
Ignore those comments. They are mostly by Messi or Maradona fanboys. Pele played against the likes of Moore, Nilton Santos, Djalma Santos, Figueroa, Perfumo, Beckenbauer, Facchetti and each of them are among the Greatest defenders ever.

This is so true. His brilliance was confirmed at 17 and this is a natural ability that never has, or probably never will be matched again. And then these numptys think that todays defenders would stop him, as though only defenders improve. This is such a nonsical statement, if there argument is true then Pele was being held back by the poor defenders. He would fit in perfectly with todays tici-taca etc. His abilities off the ball were unmatched, and he would adapt further against stronger def.
A very tough consistent league where the bottom half of the table can compete with the top. Not like in the top Europe leagues where due to disparity teams at the top are now having goal differences of like plus 70 or even plus 80, while the bottom sides are not only fielding weaker sides but even losing their good players so they can sit on the bench of these champions league sides.
The defense seems nothing compared today in this video. Pele had it in easy mode. Wouldn't cope against today's defense which much higher quality. Pele was the greatest player of his era, but then again the competition wasn't nearly as high as today - it was much easier to be above everyone else like that.
My friend, Pele's time's soccer balls were nothing compared to today's balls. At that time, Pele didn't have easy Ad1das balls to kick and score almost 1300 goals! They were massive, hard to control, they traveled way slower than today's balls. Saying that defense seems nothing compared to today's is a crap argument! So the same way we can also argue that offense used to be nothing at Pele's time compared to today. Besides, physiotherapy, health care in general, even soccer shoes were nothing compared to today's! The same way Pele 'wouldn't cope against today's defence', maybe Messi wouldn't even like soccer if he was born at Pele's time. Being a soccer player at that time was WAAAAY tougher than today! Of course we can't compare soccer styles of such different eras but just the fact that Pele had 'almost no rivalry' at his time makes him the greatest! The gap between Pele and other 50's, 60's, 70's players was way larger than the gap between Messi (or CR) and today's players. If you reject history of football arguing 'competition wasn't nearly as high as today', you are allowing future generations to use your own argument about today football.
Otavio Limirio Farias You can keep telling yourself that, but I think we both agree that the level of football was significally lower back then and has developed a great deal since. Because the general level of players was much lower, really talented players really stood out and made legend status. It's almost impossible to match today, even if the best players are actually better than Pele, because the opposition is much much tougher. About your last sentence, I sure hope so that football gets even better.
Timo Aun I agree that football was lower... but Pelé did not travel in time... he was born in that era, and he was A LOT better than everybody else. If he was born today, I trully believe he would still be a legend.
You believe but there is no way to know. Sugar Ray Robinson is considered the best boxer of all time. If he were to fight a boxer today, he would still crush, whereas if Pele played vs the teams today he would not.
You must be one of those kids that tries to like the 2nd best character in a movie just to be different. Pele is obviously the best, and hilariously most of his best stuff was never recorded on video! I've watched some of the other greats, and yea sure, they are good footballers, but to think that they could ever compare to Pele is absurd. Just watch the video without preconceived notions and you will realize you are watching the work of a genius...Pele = Mozart of football.
I KNOW THIS A LONG WALL OF TEXT BUT READ THIS FOR AN INTELLIGENT ARGUMENT :) We are so lucky to be watching Lionel Messi play, We are so lucky to be watching Cristiano Ronaldo play, most of us are unlucky to not be able to see Pele play. Yes, nowadays, if you put Pele on the field, id imagine he would have a much harder time being as good as he was back then, he would probably do well, hes a natural goal scorer, but its a different game, there are quicker defenders and strong athletes now. He was the greatest of his time, no doubt, no argument, he was AS GOOD AS HE NEEDED TO BE. Like now, Messi and Ronaldo are as GOOD AS THEY NEED TO BE to be considered the best in the world. On a side note, some may find this irrelevant to the argument, I dont think we'll ever see a player like Messi again in our lifetime. The unique dribbling, passing technique, through balls, nutmegs (jesus christ, he gets like 10 a game). On another side note, I believe that we will see another player similar to Ronaldo very soon. Athletes are getting better every day, someone will eventually match his abilities. But speaking relatively to the time he plays in, he's an absolute physical specimen, the perfect athlete for soccer, he possesses every single physical trait a soccer player strives for. speed, jumping, power. He can do it all, the most complete soccer player probably in history. Theyre both so damn good. I believe Messi plays the game in such a unique way, it makes him the better player. but either could score at any moment.
The world of football has had some fantastic players, Maradona, Cruyff, Eusebio, Messi, both Ronald's, Di Stefano, Puskas, George Best, the list goes on but Pele is my hero, no player will come near that amazingly talented footballer, the God of football is Pele!
Rest in Peace, Pele. I've been watching this video for 10 years and I won't stop ever.
greatest player of all time

And Englishman who thinks he's not the greatest and dislikes the man as a person, we shouldn't support someone who constantly demises others and makes people feel small.
It’s ridiculous how good he was at dribbling in and out of tight spaces surrounded by defenders and still finishing.
Shut the duck up about this player that no one has heard off and just accept that pele is and was better than your boyfriend!!
considering he died before i was ruins ur theory dixie team matespeles 58 dixies league>peles league dixies injury's where worse than pele and he still scored more in one season also did pele get in a motorbike accident and told he could never play again and then recover and make a goal scoring record of 60 let me remind u 60 is a higher number than 58 therefore harder to achieve
Cristiano and Messi would "survive" that any era. great players can play in any era
Ppl trying to compare players from different eras mostly end up comparing the video definition, and nothing more, even if they don't know it.

The Epic cool Dude pele is better
Mauricio Ubillus I totally agree a legend in futbol Pele
Who Evers says pele is shit or Messi is better keep in mind that Pele was the one who created the bicycle kick one of the most skilful moves on football so you have no idea what your on about
+TheButtonMashers leonidas created it . pele popularized it ..
Brian Clark Oh I did not know that .. thanks for the info :)

LEGENDS NEVER DIE
TO ALL THE KIDS COMPARING MESSI & PELÉ:
You cannot compare Messi & Pelé.
Im 12. But i like pele best but Ronaldo com on a secend
+Gotthis Topass Ok thats basketball. Were talking about soccer.

Pelé was, & always will be an amazing player. End of story.⚽️
Pelé was a few seconds ahead of the moment, knew what the opponent would do or how he would react, was very fast, no one ran like him, smart as few, all this made him the greatest of all, with a domain of mouth that I only saw the same with Ronaldinho Gaucho
I come here every now and then just to reminisce about the early days of tube, when I'd watch this video with my friends.
Pelé 3x Champion World Cup (1958, 1962, 1970)... Maradona 3x doping positive (1990, 1994, 1997).
Priceless
he only won one world cup the other two garrincha won it.

Legolas king and the offside rule was actually there
Great vid man. Love the song.
How beautiful it is to watch an attacking player pause and take his time in the penalty area. Nowadays, it seems they all become hysterical.
Definitely the best player of all time!
Hero inside and outside the football field, a legend! Truely the best player ever in the 19s!
And people want to belittle old's Brazil teams. They say that nowadays football is another level. well, that is not what I see, and Pele has always been above any level. King!
Zico in 2014:
“No doubt, Pele is the greatest ever.
I learnt from Pele as a kid.”

Argentina won 1991 and 1993 copa america without him and confederations cup 1992 also, and with him they flopped in all three copa america that he played (1979, 1987, 1989)
Brazil failed in 1966 without Pele(injured), so did his teammates in 1954, 1974, 1978 (Didi, Gilmar, Nilton, Rivelino, Jairzinho) Brazil had never won a WC before Pele and won again 24 years after her retired...
You forget club level: Pele won everythig with Santos, a team that did nothing before and after him. Maradona was good only at Napoli.
Pele had perfect skills, which is all that matters in the end.
i am italian and for me pele is the best of the history
@G Galeno sadly some says Messi is the best of the history :/
Pele is no where near 😂😂😂
The point is what pele made was way ahead of his time, these dribblings only could do a maradona or a messi..so it means pele made dribblings that a messi do nowdays for example he had a football style and ballcontrol like no one else ...his shots are perfect when i see with a damn good precision...and stop comparing messi to pele, you can do it if he lead his team to a world cup title at least

@Rizzle, further indication that the Brazilian league is really good is that four years in a row four different Brazilian teams have either won the CLib or reached the final(Atl Mineiro this year)
It shows you how many teams are good in Brazil and that things change a lot from year to year. One year one team is the best, the next another.

'Pele only won because he had excellent players around him in Brazil'.
I'll rephrase the meaning of this, to break in such a talented side and excel in the world cup at 17, as well as break in the squad at just 16, shows the legacy of the man.

Nobody can score 1000 goals like pele. Heck nobody can score 1 goal like pele
Football was easier back then
+Evan Hu are you serious?! difficult isn't even a factor, look through history, NOBODY has scored like pele did, heck go back 100 years ago, I'd argue it was harder because pitches, ball quality were so much lower
Matt Matta if messi played back then with the shit tactics and awful defending he would have scored far more than pele
Pele has only played in the Brazilian league and the MLS PLUS defensive tactics back then were crap so not only was pele playing in an easy league the tactics sucked, even in good leagues like la liga
+Evan Hu that's why every striker from back then has the same stats as him?!?!?!?!?!?
Pele and Maradona is to football what Muhamed Ali is to boxing truely beautiful to watch in 20 years time when you mention Ronaldo or Messi no one will care but Pele and Maradona will never be forgotten
Can't we just enjoy and appreciate the gods of the beautiful sport, past/present?
Messi makes Pele look like sunday league player
That is true
+Elvis Masur Teixeira Leonel tell me anyone good that played in those world cups (this is coming from a Madrid
Haha fucking kids
JUST....WOW!!! the ball is stuck on his feet...his just so fast!! (MESSI FANBOY)
i get goosebumps after watching each goal...magical.
Give him his respect he was simply the best at what he did no if ands or buts.
Best in the world?
This guy won 3 World Cups.
Case closed.
Sorry no, Brazil won three world cups. He just helped. (Brazil was at its best, and one of if not the best national team ever)
@@lillyh156 sorry mate Brazil hadn't won a world cup in 25 YERAS after Pele came in and won that one for them.
And one more thing did you know Pele stoped a war?
If not go learn more about history and comeback here later
@@lillyh156 pele is the best of history
@@Daniel23424 act as if youu were born that time, messi and renaldo more entertaining and will kill pele and Maradona if they were in that era
LONG LIVE KING PELE!!!😎👊
lets get this in HD please. go back in time and re-record the footage , then compile it for our viewing pleasure .. c'mon its 2019, make it happen
lmao .. i was like "WTF who uses this song in these days"
then i saw it was uploaded 12 years ago in 2007
ah .. the good old youtube and its cheesy videos
Oh you know these old ass men 🤣🤣🤣and their embarrassing era
This video was uploaded BEFORE Messi and Ronaldo won their first ballon d'or
He was born to play soccer and he played like none other .... love from India \m/
pele was the best player in the world in the seventies and he is now. i dont belive that anyone is better than him even ronaldo, ribery, bale or messi ;)
Ronaldo Nazario tenia un estilo muy semellante al de Pelé. Pero Pele fue mucho mas completo y más goleador tambien.
+Luíza Mello goleador completo y Pero Pele fue mucho
my dream is to see pele in real life
he's so awesome
Records were meant to be broken but there will not be another Pele....Brazil to the world.
Wow remember watching this video as a little kid haha now its 13 years old... speechless
If Messi or CR7 had to play against this kind of defences , they would score 10 times per game.
probably true
*****
haha true !
No they would not because they would play with different ball, shoes, no yellow cards, and would not have the tech help of today, Messi would not even be pro without the HGH treatment. Pele was a flawless player, Messi and CR are not, he had simply more skills than them, thats too obvious hater!
55bructrax
hahahah don't make me laugh.
Maradona wasn't around Pelé's time. Pelé played in the 60's, Maradona in the 80's. Pelé is 20 years older than Maradona
thanks 4 the facts, but still Pelé's not the one that took steroids just saying....
MegaGoodoldtimes both played in the 70s though. Pele retired in 1977 and Maradona began in 1976...
We have no right to criticise a legend....he is simply the best footballer of the history of football...
Happy Happy Birthday Pele! You are the greatest player I ever saw! You made me love soccer.
Not to mention Ramos the other night. He is rated as one of worlds best and certainly wouldn't stand a chance v Pele.
THEWARDSTER
Yes,there are so many myths being thrown around in today's game. This is the era of hyperbole, football today is hugely hype driven.
Ignore those comments.
They are mostly by Messi or Maradona fanboys.
Pele played against the likes of Moore, Nilton Santos, Djalma Santos, Figueroa, Perfumo, Beckenbauer, Facchetti and each of them are among the Greatest defenders ever.
have you watched the brutality? they will cut your leg off right from knee without getting any Yellow/Red card

I KNOW THIS A LONG WALL OF TEXT BUT READ THIS FOR AN INTELLIGENT ARGUMENT :)
We are so lucky to be watching Lionel Messi play, We are so lucky to be watching Cristiano Ronaldo play, most of us are unlucky to not be able to see Pele play.
Does your father wear y fronts or boxers dude?3>0.Amen.
zzzaaa0990 tf did you just say.
Does your father wear y fronts or boxers dude?3>0.Amen.dadada
dadada Finally, an intelligent comment.
The world of football has had some fantastic players, Maradona, Cruyff, Eusebio, Messi, both Ronald's, Di Stefano, Puskas, George Best, the list goes on but Pele is my hero, no player will come near that amazingly talented footballer, the God of football is Pele!
Pelé é a enciclopédia do Futebol. São vários fundamentos do Futebol em um único Jogador ... 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
