Wow that's so interesting, never saw one. Mom had this super old "walkman" style TV that wasnt as neat. Great job on keeping it in such good condition. And bonus points for playing Flash Gordon on it.
Yea.. my guess it was pre the capacitorgate when all the bad caps hit the market .. but nice nostalgia for me and it's always good to power thing up and not see blue smoke and actually works lol
I had a slightly more modern version of that in the 90’s. They sold them at the flea market for $15 each and I thought they were the coolest things. Up until you could watch tv on your cellphone I always had a small portable tv.
That was definitely a bargain at $15 and I agree now they're incredibly not only outdated because they're analog and a digital world. But with the advent of cell phones and super cheap tablets, these type of devices have no purpose other than just something cool to reminisce on
While Citizen is only known for watches nowadays, it's interesting to remember they did other things, too. They were initially contacted to produce the LCD screens for the original Game Boy, but internal politicking at Nintendo forced a different vendor for the project. They gave Citizen an excuse of "Here's a next-generation project we're working on, you get first dibs on this one," with bodged-together engineering plans that were never going to see production. Until Citizen brought the fake plans to Sega and the Game Gear was born. (Thanks to Low Spec Gamer for the history lesson)
I never know that about the Gameboy screen. Funny so much corporate back stabbing out there.. really make a great tv show lol.i would be in a few episodes lol Thanks for.the info..will have to read up on that !!
I believe I have the exact same one but branded Casio. I hooked a roku to an rf modulator and a couple boosters and broadcast old tv show on channel 11. Range is 100 feet or so.
Nice!!! That's basically what I had..with that transmitter...I believe I just need to replace a bunch of capacitors and it will work again. .I think the range was also about 100 feet.. so amazing job you did their !

Your chain of connectors was the same as my childhood memories of playing snes on a handheld RCA TV.
How cool is that.
It's incredible that it is still working.

@@GlensRetroShow should open up that device. I don't think there were surface mount electronics components in those days.
Great video! super cool. OMG Caldor.... I remember the Caldor by me in Clifton Park. Crazy.
You'll never not find it at Caldor
There slogan and untrue lol

@@GlensRetroShow I looked them up and they were basically knock off brand versions of the Casio TV-21. Thru didn’t last very long though.

Hey Glen! You should email the Citizen Watch company and see what kind of response you get. Maybe they'll have something historical.
It's a good idea..but many company's are just that in name and many department's like electronics are long sold off
I had one of these,, I remember hooking a VCR to it or Maybe a Beta one of the two...
Back then... It was absolutely amazing.. super primitive today
I still have my Realistic 16-152. 😁
