It's hard to believe that I went to the same university where he made his mark, The University of Alabama. When I was in school there, his name was everywhere, so in that sense it was easy to remember that he had been there. But until I see something like this speech or watch highlights of some of those great seasons he had, I don't truly appreciate how we walked the same ground on that campus. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!
September 11th will be the 100th anniversary of Coach Bryant's birth. He's not dead he lives in the hearts of winners everywhere because he was/is a winner. ROLL TIDE!!!
I was in the state in the USAF in 1966-67. There was no talking to Tide fans if you were not all in, too! The Bear had a weekly TV show where he was lamenting a bad year once when his team went 8-2. A “bad year.” He said after a loss once,”We couldn’t have beaten a barber college.” Great lines!
I am an AUbie but have the upmost respect for this man and what he stood for,Coach Bryant wherever you are the sport of college football misses you and your smashmouth style of play ,I can truly say you set the standards that have carried on espacially in the southeast .WINNER
even though im a vol fan & always will be. i still respect bear bryant for his success. but remember, he learnt everything that he knew about football from general neyland
This was Bear Bryant at his coaching best! This wasn't from the 1970s dynasty, when he had his pick of the best players all across the nation. These were the early years of rebuilding Alabama football back into the program that he himself had won national championships with as a player for Frank Thomas in the 1930s. These were the undermanned, undersized, lilly White Alabama teams. This was when he took little, slow, weak country boys and turned them into killers by convincing them they could beat anybody based purely on his mastery of motivation. As Kenny Stabler said, "The opponents were always bigger, stronger, faster, and there were more of them, but we always won." This was a younger Coach Bryant at his coaching apex!
This is amazing ! Because it was said sooo ! long ago . But parallels today WITH ALL THE OFF SEASON WORKOUTS & TRAINING ! I'm a ND fan , he was BRILLANT !
I've also heard that during recruiting, he has said to potential recruits: "We will win a National championship with you at Alabama. Or we will win a national Championship without you at Alabama."
Imagine if you were a good ol' 18 yr boy off a farm... or an 18yr old black kid who had never slept on box springs. Bryant gave those young people life lessons that endured.
@edko426 What a great year to be a Bama grad. I'm a '91 myself but I love the year 1976 and I love Bama...put 'em together...damn good times, I'd wager.
Classic. I am ready to go win a national title now. By the way, we're at 100 every day. Bear Bryant very well may have been the greatest, but don't forget Bud Wilkinson's 1953-1957 Oklahoma teams won 47 straight games! Bud has to be in the mix along with Frank Leahy and others.
Just read The Junction Boys, and watched the movie.4 myself the player with the one armed Father and Mother begging to play, and the Fathersaying football is not War! Rocky for Steelers said : the same dam thing.
The part missing on the video was, "And if you don't give it your all, I'm gonna send you over to Scooba to scrimmage in the gator pond with "Bull" "Cyclone" Sullivan. Have a good game, boys." lol...
what about walter lewis.who has played quarteback at alabama more than any in the history of alabama football. From 1980-83.who do you think made that call.Bear bryant.
"I expect nothing less" Ya know a lot of coaches could say this, but with Bryant you could feel it was true. That man wouldn't accept anything but excellence. Sometimes it's all about who is delivering the message
What is your source for this clip? I'm helping coach a high school team who needs all the inspiration we can give them, but I don't have LAN in any of the places we can assemble them (thus can't show this to them in its form here).
@PooPoo2U How can you say it better than that!! He is still the winningest coach in collegiate football history for a reason!! That is not an arguable fact!!
Sorry, weswsp01, I was in grad school at FSU in 1993, and I remember how FSU got that first championship: after they lost to Notre Dame, they CRIED on TV (literally; that's not the kind of thing I would make up) and BEGGED the voters not to drop them too much in the polls. It worked. Notre Dame lost the next week, but they didn't cry or beg and were dropped out of contention. FSU got the trophy, but they had to give up their man cards to do it.
@headjh Well we disagree, but whatever Bryant said, whether it is what you believe or what I believe, it is academic. Whatever he said, HE WAS RIGHT BECAUSE HE IS BRYANT.
Bears voice alone scares the living hell out of me. Couldn't imagine how tough the men playing ball for him were. RTR
I'd like to know how Robert Neyland coached because Bear was never able to beat Neyland in his career.
"And I'll tell you this, I expect nothing less" The look on his face when he said this, I wouldn't want to let him down.
I went Bama while he was there and met him in person. He was larger than life. There will never be another.
Tbf, there was another
Lesson for life. Not just football.
You got that 100% correct!
This is the greatest, most truthful, motivational video on RUclips. Thank you Coach Bryant. RTR BABY!
Bear Bryant was the greatest football coach in history. Even as an Auburn fan there's no doubt.
It's hard to believe that I went to the same university where he made his mark, The University of Alabama. But until I see something like this speech or watch highlights of some of those great seasons he had, I don't truly appreciate how we walked the same ground on that campus. ROLL TIDE ROLL!!
Really, he was beating Ohio state football team and woody hayes, usc football team and john McKay, etc etc
Walking with a giant. ❤
Rolllll Tide Rollll! Coach Bryant FOREVER!!!
"He wasn't just a coach," former USC coach John McKay said. "He was the coach."
Nothing more, nothing less; he was simply the best.
September 11th will be the 100th anniversary of Coach Bryant's birth. He's not dead he lives in the hearts of winners everywhere because he was/is a winner. ROLL TIDE!!!
Respect Is A Powerful Tool R.I.P. Coach
THIS video needs to be shown to every freshman who puts on a Crimson Tide uniform
We need to bring men like this back
I am an AUbie but have the upmost respect for this man and what he stood for,Coach Bryant wherever you are the sport of college football misses you and your smashmouth style of play ,I can truly say you set the standards that have carried on espacially in the southeast .WINNER

As a Bama fan, i have to say you are correct. There will never be another General Neyland!
Whos's watching this in 2021 after another Crimson Tide championship...RTR

This was not yet "Bryant, the football god" this was "Bryant, the coaching genius".
This was from the Fall of 1967 to be exact.
This is great
"WEAK" country boys? I never knew there was such a thing! LOL I thought country boys were always tough little shit kickers.
A WINNING MAN
This is amazing ! Because it was said sooo ! long ago . But parallels today WITH ALL THE OFF SEASON WORKOUTS & TRAINING ! I'm a ND fan , he was BRILLANT !
Bear had a hard life when he was young n I respect than man!
WHOA INDEED! THAT WAS INCREDIBLE...
Best speech ever,wow
The old Clemson coach Frank Howard said,"Bear could take hissun and beat yourn and take your and beat hissun .'
I've also heard that during
recruiting, he has said to
potential recruits:
"We will win a National championship with you at Alabama. Or we will win a national Championship without you at Alabama."
I thought Bobby Dodd said that, not Frank Howard?
marine919 Then he'd spit out some t'bacca, right?
I thought it was the old Houston Oiler Coach Bum Philips. Bum was an assistant coach for Bear Bryant.
One of the best quotes I've ever heard.
Roll Tide.
This man was a football god in Tuscaloosa.
Really, he was beating Ohio state football's with woody hayes, USC football team coach john McKay, etc etc
Chase, Alabama football under Coach Bryant speaks for itself.. whether you liked this speech or not.
They don't make them like the Bear anymore. A brilliant coach who was one tough SOB.
Much love and respect to Coach Saban, but this man started the "Bama Standard"!!! Roll Tide Coach!!! Stll the greatest!!!
"...and I'll tell you this, I expect nothing less." FTW
Not just at Bama. Good lesson for anyone.
Thanks for posting this.
shit, the way he says I expect nothing less would get me scared if I was his player.
Imagine if you were a good ol' 18 yr boy off a farm... or an 18yr old black kid who had never slept on box springs. Bryant gave those young people life lessons that endured.
Arkansas native, Bear Bryant.
damn man im a florida gator to i die but Coach Bryant man now thats how u get a team ready wow his voice just make you say yes sir
Chills. Absolute chills.
Gots to give a little extry! Rip sir
Wouldn't you know my eyes glazed over about one minute in.
"And I tell you this, I expect nothing less." I'm stealing that line.
Former Kentucky coach. :)
Fantastic!!
@edko426 What a great year to be a Bama grad. I'm a '91 myself but I love the year 1976 and I love Bama...put 'em together...damn good times, I'd wager.
Goat period
God I sure miss him!! Not complaining but just miss him!!!
Let’s just say here I am. I just wake up and piss excellence every day. RTR!
“I expect nothing less.” No he did not ladies and gentlemen, no he did not.
GOAT
That, is WINNER talk, jack!
ROLL TIDE ROLL!
Anyone with but a modicum of intelligence knows what Bryant was saying here, but....
if Bryant says 10% of 75 is 10, THEN IT IS 10.
The best there ever was.
Nick Saban is second best college football coach
Alabama played at 90, ND played at a 68, I'm saying this as a fan of both teams
And the only reason Alabama played at 90 was because they played Prevent for the entire 4th quarter. That last ND touchdown was charity.
@greymoose1000 On October 8, 1977, THE GREAT MEN OF TUSCALOOSA travel up to California to play #1 USC and win in Southern Cal, 21-20. ROLL TIDE!!!!!!
Roll Tide..TY Coach ...
It's the pull string of a screen to an overhead projector.
Just read The Junction Boys, and watched the movie.4 myself the player with the one armed Father and Mother begging to play, and the Fathersaying football is not War! Rocky for Steelers said : the same dam thing.
Wow..., still relevant in 2022....
Convinced me.
@db13395 I think Gump played with Namath.......or was it Stabler.........Trammal maybe. Hell, now I'm gonna have to look it up.
I didn’t recognize Coach without wearing a hat.
The makers of madden needs to pay attention to this...
I bet Bear would have ran the clock out and played OverTime
I bet Bear would've went on to beat FSU in the title game if he dominated the first 3 quarters too....
@NLBrindley Damn straight! haha. But really, most of us have nothin but love for The Bear.
The part missing on the video was, "And if you don't give it your all, I'm gonna send you over to Scooba to scrimmage in the gator pond with "Bull" "Cyclone" Sullivan. Have a good game, boys." lol...
if i were in that room when he said "I expect nothin less" i woulda crapped my pants
ME TOO!!
Motivation
Bear Bryant ,Vince lombardi, john wooden the mount Rushmore of coaches
@greymoose1000 December 28, 1985, The Alabama Crimson Tide meet USC in the Aloha bowl and win 24-3!!! RTR!!!!!!!!!!!
Bear Bryant isn't dead, he works with EA Sports to create their player rating system for the NCAA Football series.
Chilling
I didn't realize Bear Bryant created the Madden ratings system.
real madrid need this vs barcelona
I noticed ....no comments on the "Alabama"math?

If this doesn't get you fired up,nothing will
OG madden ratings
what about walter lewis.who has played quarteback at alabama more than any in the history of alabama football. From 1980-83.who do you think made that call.Bear bryant.

This video makes Chiznik piss his pants.
@djf750 THATS WHY HE WAS A GOOD COACH AFUKIN FRAID TO LOSE HELL YEA
@greymoose1000 they aren't investigating Bama. if they were my dad would have told me.
He talks more like a professor than a coach
@PooPoo2U How can you say it better than that!! He is still the winningest coach in collegiate football history for a reason!! That is not an arguable fact!!
I'm willing to give a little extrie, Coach.
Blue Ribbon Healers are Roll Tide!!!
Bada bah! Trolls and Leeches: Sucks to be you.

@teamcampmor He falls off 10% from 85% to arrive at 75%. Not 10% of 85%.
We got one of those
@teamcampmor he says 75 percent at 1:05
