I suddenly decided to learn Greek for no reason at all. I hope i can succeed. Some of the sounds don't exist in Turkish so it'll be hard. Fortunately, i think i've found the best video that i could start with.
Thank you so much! If you have any questions please let me know. Kind regards
Samenn no
how is it going so far?
how its going so far mate
Me too, hello fellow Turkish Greak learner :)
This is my first real lesson outside of duo lingo and im excited to learn more! thank you
So basically, my knowledge of physics in a nutshell...
Oh man. We had to memorize the Greek alphabet in grade school (I'm American) and I now really wish we hadn't. We learned just about every WRONG way to pronounce these letters. Now that I'm trying to learn Greek for real, the bad habits have been a frustrating problem. I've been so confused so far and really only because I learned things the very bad, very wrong way years ago. Thank you so much for this video, I now feel like I've got a great place to start unlearning those bad habits!
They're not wrong, you probably learned the ancient pronunciation. Same for me, I live in Greece now, in Italy i made classic highschool and we learned ancient greek. Now it's quite hard to read them differently.
Like the way college and Fraternities/Sororities have it wrong from "B". With my New Your accent, my Greek is Greeklish
I didn't expect Greek to be this easy.I was able to read, and Guessed 80% of these words correctly.. and it's my first lesson!!? Thanks 🙏🏽❤
I've been learning greek for two weeks now and it has been great! there's a lot of moments where I can see connections with other languages and it just gets me more and more excited
Looking forward to learning Greek. I know basic Russian and it is interesting to see how Greek language had an influence on the Russian script and letter formation. Greetings from India! :-)
Russian uses a version of the Bulgarian script.
Russian bases on bulgarian which bases on greek
I love the way you teach them, very easy to understand
you are my best Greek teacher. Am looking forward to read a Greek bible

This was AMAZING!
I liked how did you explained details that might we wouldn't notice if we studied without a teacher, thank you so much!
Great way of teaching
thank you very much. Great lesson.
Hey.
I've been learning Greek for a little bit now, slowly, with the help of an app on my phone and decided to see what resources RUclips had.
I'm so happy to have found these videos. Your voice is just perfect to learn by. I'm going to keep going with your videos. Thank you very much for making them.
Отличный урок, спасибо!

Oh my God... This is so well explained, I'm definitely going to watch more! I just need to unlearn reading certain letters as I am used to, "v" as "n", "p" as "r", "x" as "h", etc. I am partly of Greek ancestry and sadly I have never learned, or had the opportunity to learn Greek. I did have to learn Latin, though... I have met Greek people who are extremely fluent in English, including in writing, and I often wondered how much more difficult it must be for them to master a language that has another alphabet. Now I feel encouraged.
I wish you would do more amazing basic videos lile this
I learned a LOT🌺
I fall in love with the beauty of greek language. Hope to pluck up the courage to master greek one day❤
I ppreciate your explaining, it was very clear, interesting... youve a good way of teaching
Thanks a lot. Love from Turkey
Kalimera, You are very good teacher, your lesson's very goed. Gretings from Istanbul.
Καλημέρα! Ευχαριστώ πολύ !
Thank you so much for your videos! They are so helpful. I am a junior in high school in the United States, and I want to learn greek so that I can attend the University of the Aegean for marine sciences after graduation. I may not learn in time, but I will certainly try my best. Thank you again!
Thank you for this video. I have been learning Greek for 101 days as of today and still make some small mistakes with some of the letters, in particular "Υ". Your explanation of the different sounds of this letter depending on the vowel that follows it was extremely helpful. Thank you.
Another year on, how are you getting along? Any tips or advice for someone who has only started a week ago. I am using Duolingo and will follow this video tutorial and then when I am done with both of those, I am going to start watching kids TV shows in Greek... I just want to be able to converse, even if with some difficulty when I go to Greece
this is good and helpful. I am an Indonesian and i love to study Greek in order to understand Catholic Bible in Original writings.
as a greek enthusiast, this is so good for a non native greek
I’ve been thinking about learning a new language after English, but I was always procrastinating because I always thought I needed to learn popular languages like Spanish, German, French, etc. In reality, it wasn’t what I deeply wanted. Finally, I began learning Greek a week ago and it’s going immaculately. The reason for Greek is probably my admiration for Ancient Greek philosophy. What I do know is I’m having so much fun with Greek right now. Duolingo was a great starting point, but in time I found myself here as a second guide. Once I figure out the alphabet, I believe everything will get faster. καρότο και νερό
I like your teachings style...be blessed
Thank you so much!!! I am just starting to study Greek and your videos are so very helpful. I appreciate all your help. :)

I'm going to watch all your videos just to witness your beauty every day
This was great for me for learning the alphabet. Thank you!
I love this teacher! she reminds me of my Mαριακακι μου! I'm a Turkish Cypriot and I have a friend from Greece. She is very close to my big sister that I have whom I am blood-related. We met through a game and when she asked me where was I from, I thought she/he was going to bully me (had some of those) turns out she got bullied by Türks like I got bullied by Greeks :D anyway to this day, it has been more than 7 years, we have been in touch which I am super grateful for. So I know some curse words that she has taught me I also took a Greek 101 class at the uni. But I cannot speak yet I will learn now so I can say her baklava is Turkish in her native language and many more. I really hope to see her one day and do nnnnee 🤚🏻 to her :D She also taught me that. Apparently, it's very offensive similar to flipping someone off. I have no idea how did that become a thing in Greece. Jokes aside, I love her so much but I MUST annoy herrrrrrrr
Thank you! My first Greek lesson!
Amazing job! thanks a lot for sharing, learning greek from Chile !

Thank you Shaoxuan Li! I thought that in this way it would be more helpful for the students.
Very helpful.
Thank you Madam
Thank you very much for your effort. I will appreciate a lot if you make videos to teach Koine Greek( Greek of the new testament). starting from Alphabets, letters combinations pronunciations, and vocabulary and basic grammar. I am confused because, in Oxford books, letters are pronounced in a different way. So I need authentic Greek lessons in Koine Greek. Thank you
Koine Greek is different than Modern Greek, especially in pronunciation :)
@@johml9645 There is no difference in pronunciation between Koine Greek and modern Greek, but it has been taught false in the west. One can argue a lot but go to Greece or to any Greek orthodox Church and you will see that there no difference, and if you are not convinced by the people of the language so good luck with your opinion.
@@Michael-dq8ge There is a slight difference in pronunciation in the Alphabets, I apologise if you have misunderstood my message earlier on. There is a slight difference in Grammar and vocabulary as well. I know this because I learn both Koine and Modern Greek.
Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong :) Cheers.
@@johml9645 thanks for your message and clarity. I was a bit harsh due to the misunderstanding and misuse of Greek here in Austria. I am Greek orthodox but I don't speak neither modern Greek nor New Testament Greek which is Church Greek. And I am now in this process if learning both Greeks. Of course there is a difference in vocabulary and syntax or grammar because any spoken language tends to be simpler than the formal one. One example of the identical pronunciation is a famous song called Αγνή Παρθένε. It is pronounced the same way any Greek person pronounces the modern Greek. You can listen to it and compare. Normally my contact and experience in my church is my source of information. Thanks again for your kindness :)
I need to go to church now so I wrote you before to fix any misunderstanding :)
Have a nice day
@@Michael-dq8ge That is okay :) I am glad that we have clear up the misunderstanding. I will definitely listen to the famous song Αγνή Παρθένε. Let me know how your learning journey goes :) Cheers :)
so, what you're telling me is, the reason percy was so bad at learning the greek language, was because it has 3 EE sounds and 3 th sounds? so, he's dyslexic in three languages... cause it was stated that he's bad at latin as well. this makes so much more sense XD
Hi. I find your lessons very effective. But you should give numbers to your lessons. Because it is always mixed and hard to find where I was before…. Please do it. σας παρακαλούμε
thank u so so much for this!!
This is so good!
Hocamın maçları daha iyi anlayabilip kötü laf edenlere sövebilelim diye başlıyoruz hadi bakalım❤️💛
I'm italian and i speak of course italian and neapolitan and it's crazy how many words in common there's with greeks, it's fascinating. I will for sure learn the language since i come from the south of the peninsula, in the Magna Grecia.
Efaristo parapoli from Turkey
How many times should one study the alphabet per day? Edit: And any studying tips aside from just writing them down, like for memorization?
@liliprofe13 reAlly thankful for your videos.I have just begun and you are an amazing teacher. Really grateful!!!!! July 2023
hi, do you have a lesson about "who" and "whose". I cannot find it. thank you
Not yet! You will find it in the B1 level/playlist in the future
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
2:10 Sorry I don't understand. In the UK (England) we pronounce woman with a 'w'. As in With, Who, We, Wake etc. Wasn't the comparison supposed to sound like a 'y'?
thank you so much :)
good
Ευχαριστώ πολύ!
My son and I are going to Greece next summer via his school. We tried using some apps, he's had some basic levels of success with other languages but was struggling w/Greek. I hope your lessons help us. We'd like to at least be able to attempt to read and try and communicate on a basic level while there.
I am Bahnar - the ethnic people in highland in Vietnam, i have known the language which used to write Bible New Testament but to learn becomes fluently is very hard...😅
There are many Turks in the comments who are curious about Greek like me, I'm not alone hahaha
Wow, there are a lot of words exactly the same as in italian
Great
is this ancient greek or modern greek??
Modern Greek
What is the difference between ι η υ.
For example, if I want to write (kalimera), which one I must prefer: καλιμερα or καλημερα ?
There is no difference in the pronunciation. It is only a matter of spelling. There are grammar rules for the endings and you have to memorize the ones in the middle. Please watch my lesson about the alphabet. Kind regards
I am suprised how many words sound like Italian, English or Spanish: Lemon, Athens, tavern, hour, hypothesis, dolphin, dance, etc.
Jesus Christ loves you and died, rose from the dead, and ascended to heaven to pay for your sin! Turn to Him and you will walk in light and be saved. Read the book of John and Luke to see God's love for you!
hi just wondering, with the Υ υ, is it written as "Υψλον" or "Υψιλον"? Great video though!!!
Ύψιλον!

I am Turkish and every Greek person familiar our language can guesss when hear. Honestly I cant tell which language is when I hear Greek I feel shame for that. They are our neighboor and I love them all I should know Greek basics at least so I am here to fix that I hope.
