And the dairy of Mrs. Ellen Rimbauer is the life that she has lived in rose red. and had a sad life in that house. And there are more of her many dairies she has wrote sense she moved in to rose red. But they were never found. And she named the Thronewood, rose red when she first moved into the house December 9, 1908.

The castle was called thornewood and different people lived in there named chester and anne thorne. Rose red is a fictional story inspired by the haunting in hill house and loosely based on the winchester mansion's story, which is real. It's actually about an hour south of Seattle, Wa it's located in TILLICUM (technically Lakewood) Washington, right by American Lake. I had my wedding there and stayed for a couple of nights. That place was creepy and I always felt like someone or something was watching me. It's gorgeous place, I wish I had more time to explore it. Anyway it's pricey but it's worth it. You should check it out.
I love Rose Red such a beautiful place and very romantic at the same time full of mystery and the unexpected at the same time. Such a place full the unknown and ghost and spirits and it brings such wonders with all the disaparentces of people going missing inside Rose Red in the house itself and on the property also. I love unsolved cases and mysterious mysteries at the same time. So much fun. I wish that Rose Red was still here with us it would have been a great historic sight lot of people would have loved it as much as I do. To also keep on ghost hunting watch for spirits too. When the diary of the wife was found by a woman looking into the interest of the house, she was very surprised by the entries the wife ha written. It is built on an Indian Burial ground. Many of the bodies have been removed, but what keeps the spirits so active? Now the mansion has been demolished.
Annastazia Byron Hi Annastazia. Sorry I haven't answered sooner, my computer was down, just got it back. Your question is a great one. Haunted houses interest me greatly also. I know about the indian burial grounds and the continued haunting of the house, but I really don't know anything more. Just because a building has been demolished doesn't really mean the "spirits" have left the grounds. Personally I am extremely interested in spirits. I have seen and heard things in an old home I once lived in, but I have no explaination for any of them. I am not a crazy person, just interested in things there are no answers to. If I can find any more information I will contact you.....

Annastazia Byron I totally agree with you Annastazia. I've seen and heard things that I cannot explain. After my grandfather passed, my parents were sitting at the kitchen table discussing rather to sell the house or not. Every time they discussed the topic, they would hear a noise behind the kitchen stove. This went on several times. After they agreed to keep the house, they no longer heard the noise. They knew it as a sign my grandfather was happy that they were keeping the house. Another incident was the death of my best friend in an auto accident when I was about eighteen. I heard of her death and went to my room to cry. As I was laying on my bed, a white shadow came over me from the opposite wall, passing over my body and then went out the window above my head, I always took that sign as her "good bye" and that she loved me. Our dead loved ones are always with us, even after death.
Annastazia Goodwin Good Morning...I believe everything you have witnessed. I have seen things happen in my live that I cannot explain. They never bother me because I do believe in an "afterlife". Our souls do not just disappear and they never leave their loved ones. Many people believe their souls go to Heaven (this is their right) I believe there are different planes that our souls go to when we die, how this is determined, I can't say. That at the end of her life was the paece that she wanted but it never happened for her. Even in death she was sad, lonely, and heart breaken and I just hope someday she I'll finally rest in peace

i don't understand why would they create the fake one for the movie, why not do it on the real one? the video is great and the song goes good with it, I couldn't look away from it
because the real house is a maze and people could easily get lost or even killed if walked out the wrong door.....like the door that opens to a hole to the kitchen or the door to nowhere where you fall out of the house and besides there are stairs leading to nowhere and just too big and confusing

Wow...5 years ago, and no one replied...Well, I'll answer your question on one of them. I live in California, and I have visited the Winchester Mansion a few times and still standing. Tourists still visit this home..And Rose Red, well, I don't know... Comments here and there are saying the Rose Red Mansion was demolished and others are saying two mansions different Rose Red...and yes, Rose Red and Winchester are on two different States.
The house is actually real? wow. Rose red will always be my favorite horror movie.

The house Rose Red was modeled after is in Washington and is a bed and breakfast not only can you tour it you can stay there.
