Fumbling around on Schooner Trace | The hardest "trail" at Brown County State Park, Indiana

- Brown County State Park is a jewel of midwest riding. Schooner Trace Trail is the parks most difficult trail, earning a double black diamond rating. The trail is only accessible from the black diamond rated Bobcat trail. I decide to venture on it to see just how hard it is...

This is surprisingly technical as mentally, you expect the trail to be not that bad for Indiana, but a lot of the technical features are uphill orientated that make it a power play as well. Tough trail!
Even though you're not Jeff Lenosky, I enjoyed watching you try to tackle that old beast. It's been many years since I've "ridden" Schooner, and I doubt I ever will again even though I'm down there every week! There are just too many things that can kill you on that trail! :D My wife and I love hiking it though!
I would be very happy if I had just 10% of the skill that Jeff has. Beast is a very apt description for it!
Yeah, like most people, you didn't "ride" all the harder stuff, you hiked a bike like most everyone else does.
Always amusing when people can't even ride the start of the trail, yet proceed thinking they can maybe do the rest. Schooner was a waste of time and effort because nobody truly rides it, not that much talent around there. Lots of people will claim they rode it, but what they really meant was hike a bike. They walked all the tough stuff, which just makes it pointless.
Glad I entertained you.
how do you get the overlay data that you add to you videos? the speed, elevation chart etc? Thanks
I use some old, no longer supported, Garmin software to generate the overlays which I then import into Final Cut Pro for editing. Not sure if they would even work now as it has been a couple years since I produced a video.
I am a local for the last 10 years and ride a few days a week out there. This trail is the only one I consider unrideable at brown co. Jeff Lenosky is the only rider I've seen clean it.
I've seen Jeff's video. His riding skills are incredible. I know the video does not show how slippery some of mossy rocks are and how large some of the rock steps ups are when you are also grinding uphill sapping your energy.
This trail is humbling for sure. I fell down a 20 ft embankment. Kudos for you riding it. It was more of a hike with my bike!🤣🤣🤣
Hope you were okay!

Grippy shoes are a must
That would definitely help!
Thanks
That reminds me of some of the setups I would ride for trials comps back in the 90's.
Trials skills would help with this!
