I've worked on this video for over a year, so it'd be AMAZING if you could keep sharing it to anyone who may be interested! Sonic fan or not! Thanks guys :)
You know here’s an idea I was still thinking about for facing perfect chaos the first time the second round Becomes a tough one When chaos looks down And sonic is so close to defeat him As it turns out chaos had a wild card behind him. It was none other than the crash egg carrier from the ocean And as he puts it inside him they all Tear into pieces in him And gets organize farming inside him armor battlements and As the screen just showing chaos roaring on What he become super sonic says: Boy don’t call him perfect chaos for nothing and as chaos starts staring him down, Sonic then says: You want me to hit the Waves well then; SURFS UP BIG KAHUNA, then sonic flies right at him, And I’m sure you can think of the rest IF you think it’s a good idea.
This video is the best possible resume anybody could ever make for a writer/co director position. You're hired. Seriously. I want you in my game company. I have huge plans and your passion and creativity is exactly what I wanna bounce those ideas around on. This isn't Sega, or Nintendo, or anything big like that. But we could be with a powerhouse combo like us working together. Maybe one day we'll even be able to buy some nostalgic franchises we like and give them the remakes and continuity they deserve. I already had my eyes set on the Sonic Team, which is why I wound up here. But I also have Need for speed and some others in mind too. Our first game we're working on now is a combo inspiration from classic NFS games, mainly focused around the gameplay of the GUN truck chase in sonic. I always wanted a game that was specifically that scene, but one never came. So here I am, making it instead with my own team. (We have some pretty good progress so far, but it's slow because I'm supporting the whole thing on my simple pizza job wage). Let me know if you want to join and I'll post my Discord tag for you to send a friend request to.
A good video with good ideas! Also the robot at 1:50:52 is actually silver sonic mk 2 from the Archie comics, who appears funnily enough during or right after Archie’s SA1 adaptation.
There should be a post-credits scene of Eggman, back at his base, sulking over how everything went so wrong. He starts digging through a box of old plans and gadgets in an attempt to come up with a new scheme to take his mind off it when he notices something he hadn't before. An old, tattered journal labeled "Property of Gerald Robotnik".
YESSSSS!!!!!! This reminds me of how if you get all of the chaos emeralds in the mobile remake of Sonic 2, after the credits you can see the death egg crashing on angel island and see Knuckles’ eyes in a bush (Like Sonic 3’s US Box art) while Eggman is pouting.
So many things I have to say bro 1. Your drawings are absolutely fantastic 2. Your storytelling with your pictures the music and dialogue really gets you immersed 3. The scene with Tikal and Knuckles near the end made me crack a tear that’s how immersed I was in this and I’ve played the game so many times at this point. Truly a masterpiece
1:11:17 Better idea: The orca ends up swallowing Froggy at the end of the level. This causes Big to panic and as a result, dive into the water, HEAVE THE ORCA ONTO THE BEACH THROUGH HYSTERICAL STRENGTH, THEN GRAB IT BY THE TAIL, AND PROCEEDS TO "PUNY GOD" THE ORCA UNTIL IT COUGHS FROGGY UP. And the moment the orca hurls Froggy out and the frog books it, Big just over-the-shoulder YEETS the orca back into the ocean and starts chasing Froggy again. All the while everyone on the beach watched this insane display, as well as moved the hell out of the way when Big starts to chase Froggy through the crowd. Not only would this be a funny moment, but it'd also tell the player that despite how brick-brained Big is, he can be pretty scary at times.
The Sonic X anime had a scene where Amy witnessed Gamma's death and said her final goodbye. I really liked that change. I am not sure if it is something your thought of.
@@shardsoftime0952 Why? Gamma's pretty important since he's the reason Amy escaped in the first place, Amy seeing Gamma dead would add on to her and gamma's friendship. It felt like Amy just forgot about Gamma after the event's on the Egg Carrier.
@@John-X That would be like some sort of "Sonic Adventure Retold", so like the Sonic Adventuew project for Sonic Generations, same basic setting and story but completely different gameplay and level design.
2:40:51 It just occurred to me that the opening cg cutscene was all about Sonic rushing to final battle with Chaos. This would be a great opportunity to retell that opening in a full blown cinematic. -Sonic rushes through the jungle, makes it to Station Square, staring down at Perfect Chaos. -Tails flying faster than ever that he breaks those windows. -Knuckle gliding through sky as if his life depended on it. -Amy amidst the chaos in Station Square sees the Egg Carrier 2. -Eggman makes his epic entrance on his Egg Carrier 2. - Gamma sadly will not make it, but the bird inside him joins Amy. - Then Big taking his time to get there.
its been a year and a half, but I still keep coming back to this video. this is probably like, my favorite piece of sonic fan content, ever. when they inevitably do remake sonic adventure I know that I'll just be disappointed no matter what now because there's no way that they'd do it so much justice down to every last detail like you outlined here lol. I know I already left a comment a while ago when the video came out but I felt compelled to leave another one just to let you know how much I appreciate this video. thank you
@BillehBawb This is definitely a bit of a long shot..., but I hope that whenever Sega decides to finally do a Sonic Adventure Remake and a Sonic Adventure 2 Remake, I hope that they pull a Sonic Mania (a videogame made by fans for the fans...) and hire Ruby of Blue to be the main Creative Director behind it after watching his videos on the Sonic Adventure games and seeing how genuinely passionate he is about it all...
Man this definitely makes me want an Adventure remake even more. The manuals for the Genesis games implied that the islands for those games were once part of an even bigger continent so I definitely would have added a flashback of Chaos destroying the original place and seeing South, Westside and Angel Islands break apart. Also seeing the other clans since they only ever show us the Echidnas.
I absolutely agree. That basically is a certainty considering what the Sonic 2 manual says. I wish that they'd actually reference the fact that the mystic ruins are on westside island so we wouldn't have to consider that a "theory" any more.
for Tails, I'd add a scene of him defusing the dropped bomb after defeating Eggman. kind of like what they did with the missile in sonic X. which makes a lot more sense than just ignoring the missile entirely. maybe you need to still beat the bomb dropping robot and Eggman to the site, but it still drops giving you a time limit to defeat Eggman so Tails can safely defuse the bomb. basically if you didn't make it to the end in the time limit in speed highway Tails wouldn't have enough time to safely defuse the bomb after beating an (now ahead of and prepared for him) Eggman.
Also, have several versions of the same track. In this context, the background music would be an orchestral climactic tense version of Speed Highway rather than the "way past cool" version of Sonic's story.
Yes but I don't really think Sega would notice this and literally take the ideas from it, we need talented fan(s) to execute this sort of thing and maybe Sega could support it like they did with sonic mania, and tbh if there is a remake of it actually starting based on this video I would prefer if they keep the art style but better if u get what I mean.
Imagine a Chaos story with all the times he steals emeralds as playable, and in the boss fight you play as him flooding station square and fighting Sonic
@@Breakaway-ic5gj I'd rather we not plays as him fighting Sonic but it stop at Perfect Chaos flooding & rampaging through Station Square maybe. The finL story should just be the final story.
Congratulations for getting this out!!! Been keep up with the updates and such on your twitter and the amount of passion you have for this incredibly admirable. The satsisfaction has gotta feel good, cant wait to watch!
The Super Sonic story you wrote literally made me cry. If this doesn't become reality via a game, I really want this to become an animated fan series. GOD PLEASE. I would even help out.
Ruby Of Blue DID make a Pokemon fan series with Manifest Heart. and im surprised he didn't give his Sonic Adventure remake the same treatment and the closest thing we have to this is Sonic X's adaptation of Sonic Adventure's story
One of SA1's biggest advantages of the Light-Speed Dash above the other variations is that when you perform it, you don't have to be positioned RIGHT in front of a ring. Sonic automatically homes in on the first ring if you're close enough, and sometimes, he even goes after a second trail of rings if IT'S close enough!
but i think it still could be improved if there was a way to easily prevent a light speed attack when attempting a light speed dash, maybe by requiring more simultaneous button presses to perform the attack variant. this would allow for more tight placement of enemies and ring trails while giving the player more reliable control over whether they do a dash or an attack. also, maybe add some ring trails that double as a way to destroy a long line of enemies at the same time, something like that would feel SO satisfying.
Commenting before I've watched the whole thing, but your idea for Tails having wide open objective-based areas to his levels got me thinking. The original idea behind his story was to race Sonic, right? To reinforce how he's always basically following Sonic which then plays into his development into his own hero when he then has to beat Eggman instead. Well in this version, what if Tails' objective-based areas were actually tasks that would help out Sonic in his version of the levels? Like if spinning the three windmills in Windy Hill is what creates those paths of wind Sonic can run across. Or maybe Ice Cap has you knocking down icicles which make the path for Sonic to traverse. Maybe Sonic doesn't even notice this, as Tails is laying down these paths in time for Sonic to just barrel through, and this in turn would give more motive to his later line on Sky Deck where he says (about Sonic) "I hate it when he doesn't listen to me."
Absolutely this!! I had the exact same thought while listening to the Tails section. You could even keep the element of having to race sonic, except it's not about beating sonic but completing the objective before sonic arrives (so that those sections are basically time attacks). That would also mean, funnily enough, that the avalanche that sonic has to snowboard away from in ice cap is Tails fault, haha. I just think that it would be a great way for Tails personal growth to reflect in his game play. Allowing him to transition from feeling like a sidekick to a partner. Since he's learned that he can solve problems on his own, it changes it so that both of their game play compliments each other, the way partners should.
I'm a huge Tails fan and this fits in with what I've thought about these brothers' relationship. Tails has always been more detail-oriented than Sonic, who prefers to think fast and with his feet. He'll find a random slope and see where it takes him. This can make Tails' objective when adventuring with Sonic to be like a permanent quality of life improvement, setting up paths on the fly. Whether Sonic notices it or not, Tails doesn't really mind because he just loves watching Sonic be super cool. I've even seen this concept get pushed to the point where Tails actually invents and sets up the power-ups in Sonic's levels, but there's only so many gameplay elements you can realistically implement into logical reasoning. Plus a new question arising of how Sonic 1's power-ups work.
A few little Easter eggs and references to litter into the game; - Cream and Cheese greet the player in the first Chao Garden they enter and say they visit this place a lot to play and that the player can raise the Chao however they wish (basically a reintroduction of the Chao Garden mechanic plus some hints for the Sonic Advanced series). In addition, if you get the last levels of Chao races, etc. Cheese (and possibly Chocola) will become competitors. - (credit: VegetaFan 99) Post Credit Eggman finding notes from his grandfather Prof. Gerald Robotnik and the files on Project: Shadow. - A poster in the station for the grand opening of the Chaotix Detective Agency. - (credit: Alex Leland) Blurpints/Diary entry/Notes from Eggman on the Egg Carrier about the success of Gamma and the possible mass production of his model (E-1000s) and the future of the E-100 series (with some prototype designs for E-123 Omega). - Other than the mural of Perfect Chaos, perhaps Eggman has a gallery of other murals or carvings of various other deities and ancient structures from the Sonic-verse: Dark Gaia (Sonic Unleashed), Solaris (Sonic '06), Time Eater (Sonic Origins), Babylon Garden (Sonic Riders), Emerl (Sonic Battle), Sol Emeralds (Sonic Rush), etc. - Another post credit scene showing the President authorizing the mass deployment of GUN after the disaster in Station Square (even a cameo by Rouge the Bat and the Commander). - Perhaps a few NPC dialogue could make references to having "seen" other characters; i.e. "Hey, I thought I saw a silver hedgehog move crates with his mind. Then I woke up and realised it was just a dream." "Hey Sonic, I think I saw your buddy flying around here earlier today. He's a yellow flying-squirrel, right?", etc.
- An arcade where you can play classic games like Flicky, Ristar, Vectorman and other SEGA goodies. - Pumpkin-shaped mountains far away if you look close enough in Red Mountain. - A clothes shop where you can dress as characters from Jet Set Radio, getting the Soap shoes, etc. - A cassette player that you can buy and collect cassettes that have music from the Genesis era; basically unlockable music tracks. - And my favorite: a DLC chapter with a new story: Tikal. It shows how Tikal tries to side with the opposites of the Echidna tribe (maybe the Owls from the Sonic movie if you want to tie into that); she learns abilities taken from every character in the game. At the end, she learns to use Chaos Control and is she who seals Chaos; also working as a tie-in with a potential Sonic Adventure 2 remake.
@@Dairunt1 Adding on to that Pumpkin Hill Easter Egg, perhaps we could also throw in more easter eggs to other stages, such as… - the archaeologists in Mystic Ruins mentioning rumors of a pyramid filled with ghosts (alluding to Sandopolis or Eggman’s Pyramid, it could go both ways) - the addition of a blocked pathway filled with construction signs detailing the “Repairing of Radical Highway/Route 101/280” (some NPCs could also make comments on how fun it would feel to skateboard down these areas, thus making another allusion to City Escape) - there could be a shop selling postcards of various Unleashed locations (Apotos, Spagonia, Empire City, etc.) that could be added as collectibles - the addition of two NPCs in Station Square who recently got engaged and plan to visit Soleanna for their honeymoon - in Eggman’s Base, there could be a journal containing blueprints of “Eggmanland”, which appear to resemble the stage of the same name in Unleashed or even his theme park in Colors - and adding on to the Colors reference, this could actually be connected to the Cream cameo in Chao Garden where one of the things she could talk about his hearing rumors of a “lush planet inhabited by cute aliens that grant *colorful* superpowers to whoever is kind to them” - for fans of Sonic X, the addition of a bunch of elementary schooler NPCs who talk about a kid in their class who “has a businessman for a dad, a supermodel for a mom, an inventor for a grandad, and a mansion for a house”, to which they express their jealousy - a nerdy NPC carrying a bunch of books, two of which specifically being Knights of the Round Table and the Arabian Nights - (my personal favorite) a flyer in the train station mentioning the debut of a “self-automated” express train, which also mentions it as a “popular spot for fans of Hercule Pierrot” (obviously to avoid copyright they pull a Herlock Sholmes and corrupt his name a little bit, also this is obviously alluding to The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog) - (another pretty good one) once again connected to the Cream Cameo, she could mention rumors of a “bunch of islands inhabited by cute tiny rock creatures and advanced technology”
With it being a remake, I thought of some easter eggs. You could have a hidden room on the Egg Carrier foreshadowing future events. Like Gerald's journal and blueprints for Omega.
This deserves way more likes. In fact, even the original game had continuity-building stuff like this through dialogue with NPCs referencing the events of Sonic 3&K and Sonic CD. Eggman having Gerald’s journals that he used to get the password to awaken Shadow stored somewhere in the egg carrier would be such an awesome easter egg while building continuity.
Also I think Eggman's motive for destroying station square can be changed a bit. He wants to destroy station square because it's the capital of the United Federations, who are responsible for his grandfather's tragedy
What if, Gerald's journal is in the Egg Carrier while it's airborn, but after it crashed the journal's gone? It could hint that Eggman values it enough to save it.
I think the absolute worst part of this video is that it makes me deeply wish to play this dream remake right this second. TwT It's a phenomenal video full of great ideas for gameplay, characters, story, and level-design in ways that feel like natural additions and improvements to the base game. Not to mention your visual examples that really help sell these ideas: your artwork is so expressive! Absolutely stellar, the care and consideration you put into this is plain to see. Thank you for making this!
32:58 Tails: I'm gonna cause an avalanche to break that barrier! Sonic: Sounds good...WAIT A SEC I'M DOWN HERE TOO! _(cue snowboarding segment)_ 1:09:07 Big (riding said avalanche): WHEEEEEE! Tails: Where'd this guy even come from? Sonic: (is completely out of fucks to give)
@AidenAtorX Maybe even have a dedicated menu to refight bosses, with an added Boss Rush Mode where after beating all the main bosses you unlock new boss fights to replay at your leisure: Chaos 1, Chaos 3 & Chaos 5, since we never get to fight/see them in the game.
This is quite possibly the most in-depth detailed video I've ever seen explaining a hypothetical remake. All your effort in this video really shines and was worth all the trouble. The fact you made countless detailed art pieces making characters look like Uekawa's artstyle and colorful and large backgrounds and settings to really make your ideas more clearer to your viewers is just, insane as hell. I don't think many artists would be able to go as far as you did lol
Game engines have come a long ways, and modders have made incredible things on their free time. Look at something like "Black Mesa" for example. A group remade half life 1 and spent 16 years working on it. No doubt a passionate group of game designers could get together and make this a reality. It just takes one person willing to put there foot forward to make it happen.
I do like what you did with Big making him a platformer character with Heroes elements but I still think the fishing segments should at least be a little bonus thing for players who liked those sections in the OG game can experience them. I think having a dedicated area in each Adventure Field where it would basically be a giant pool of water where you could fish for many different kinds of aquatic life (kinda like that one hidden area in Emerald Coast). And as something that would keep track of your catches, maybe Big’s home would have a trophy room or an aquarium where you could check your catches and see how many you have. Heck, you could even have it where you can sell the fish for rings or have it be an alternative way to earn EXP. Alternatively, you could try tying it into the “collect animals to feed to Chao” part of the game and just have a streamlined version where certain parts of Big’s stages have it where you can use the rod attack and it would play an animation where Big would acquire one of the animals to give to the Chao. Maybe it would be exclusive aquatic themed animals to give incentives to seek them out for players who want to make the most of their Chao breeding. Either way, it wouldn’t be intrusive on the players who just want to play a traditional Sonic game while acknowledging the ones who would want some aspect of that still in the game. Edit: I reckon it’s kinda like what Frontiers did with an area dedicated to Big’s fishing mini game and the stuff you could trade in for fishing.
My idea would be to have the fishing as bonus-stages after his mainstages that can be skipped. And of course get unlocked to be traveled to instantly even if they aren't played right away.
I think maybe miniature fishing segments should be the way you finish the Stage. Ones not quite as intensely "Sega Bass Fishing" as the original ones. You go through platforming segments that make up the majority of the Stage to reach the ending area to fish for Froggy.
I can't overstate just how much the pieces of art enhance this whole vid, your takes on the character designs are so good and the sheer detail you put into the environments and how closely they resemble the original stages and all the added things like Hidden Palace Zone in Red Mountain and the expressions and the dynamic actions and GOD this is such a great video, I kinda really want this now!
Ever since I saw your video going over the entirety of SA2's story, I've thought you'd be the perfect candidate to remake the Dreamcast games. Someone who not only genuinely cares, but deeply understands _why_ people love these games and what makes them amazing.
Just finished that video yesterday and I second this. If this guy was the lead designer for Adventure remakes they could potentially become the greatest game remakes of all time.
This is the way sonic team needs to go. Do what's been done here in this video and study the game. Understand what makes people love it and how it could be better. Through re-making Sonic Adventure, learn what made 3D sonic good. Then once this game is complete, start on SA2, and master what made it good and where it could be improved. Take those lessons and carry them into the future of the series. Knowing what worked about all the 3D sonics AND the 2D ones with mania. I can't imagine Sonic Team being able to make a bad game after that.
This is absolutely incredible. The creativity on display here would no doubt make for one of, if not, the best 3D platformer ever as well as no doubt the best 3D Sonic game. Overall, an amazing display of creativity and passion that can only come from a true fan.
if a group of dedicated fans were actually going to attempt something like this, and some corporation didnt crush it into dust halfway through, thatd be the best idea i think. itd be worth *alot* in R&D funds IMO
I know this comment is from a month old, and the most recent response was from 2 weeks ago, but I still thought I should mention this. I actually started working on creating a basic Sonic Adventure Remake Prototype, just as a side project. Now I haven't done much with this yet (I literally only begun work on this two days ago, what do you expect?) but I am working on getting the basic stuff worked on, such as the basic movement, and soon I will work on setting up some basic objects, such as rings, shields, basic obstacles, and loops, though the loops will def take a bit to be set up. If I end up liking the project, people have interest in it, and I am able to do so, I may try and create a small demo which lets you play as each character in a level, see a cut-scene, and play in a boss battle, each of them being unique to each character. However I would require a proper team for this, and tbh I am not good at leading teams. I usually work better alone. If enough people enjoy the demo I may make an extended demo but likely not a full game but hey, you never know what may happen. I guess only time will tell.
2:14:31 One thing to add, canonically, the Tornado is *SONIC's plane,* it's why it has his name on it. So seeing as the tornado is the plane of his best friend/idol, and he did this to it multiple times he takes this situation horribly wrong.
@@shay_playz I mostly understood the story but no matter how much I get used to it I won’t feel immersed. It being cut up into 6 campaigns made it difficult to keep track of.
Sonic Frontiers’ story is being written by Ian Flynn, who has been writing the Sonic comic books by Archie and IDW for years. The storyline could easily end up being the best we’ve seen in a Sonic game in a long time.
Some of the ideas I have here are alternate ways of encorporating things you've thought of adding in other ways!: Along with the RPG mechanics involving the shop, we should also be able to use our XP, or perhaps even collected rings throughout both the overworld and stages to buy cosmetics for each of the characters, such as Sonic's SOAP shoes, or a ribbon for Amy referencing her 2D appearance, with the priciest of unlockable cosmetics being full outfit changes for the characters. Give Knuckles his cowboy outfit, change Tails into his darker furred, different proportions counterpart from the 2D games and the same with Sonic. Give Big perhaps an outfit from one of his Sonic Prime counterparts, or even a Kabuki themed outfit which changes his umbrella to match! Speaking of: all full outfits will change the power up visuals of each character too! It's a neat way to keep the progression system in the RPG space a bit more varied and worthwhile. I even had the idea of having trails follow characters when they pick up speed as another potential unlockable buy! Maybe you can access other character swaps through this system too. You can buy Metal Sonic (or unlock him by beating all challenges with Sonic), unlock Espio (or beat all challenges with Knuckles), unlock Cookie and Cream (or beat all challenges with Amy), Omega, (Gamma) Vector (Big) and finally Charmie (Tails). All of these function as full character swaps to play as in the respective character's levels, and can be either bought from the shop with ring totals, or can be earned by completing all challenges with the specific character!
Dear lord, you went absolute nuts with the amount of effort in this video. Love how dynamic the drawings are! This version of Sonic Adventure would be one I'd love to pieces. Here's just a few bonus suggestions I'd include. - Maybe not focus too much on bouncing proper. The Homing Attack was introduced for a reason and trying to do enemy bounces at full speed can be extremely difficult. Merely making it optional for Sonic's stages would be best but for Amy her hammer can make enemy bouncing much easier. - For the Egg Viper and Egg Walker (alongside other bosses), having bigger health bars to match the more dynamic battles with more chances to sneak in damage would be great. Also a few attacks that can't be counterattacked would be nice to have as a way to make the player having to run away and stay on their toes. - Also personally prefer the Bounce Bracelet over the Insta Shield. Having a more defensive move like that doesn't quite fit Sonic's character too much and it'd be really hard to use in 3D due to depth perception. The Bounce Bracelet on the other hand would be more fun to use with playing around with Sonic's physics and bouncing off the side of slopes to rocket in the other direction. Gamma could use the Insta Shield concept much better with your suggestion for his new Upgrade, provided the timing isn't as strict to compensate for depth-perception. - Due to Knuckles having the closest rivalry with Chaos out of all the characters, maybe giving him an extra Chaos battle would be cool to have. Imagine Chaos hopping off the Egg Carrier after noticing one of the Master Emerald shards and before Knuckles' Lost World he'd have to battle a Chaos 5 or 4 1/2 to retrieve the shard the latter took. Also maybe give his Chaos 6 a bit more spectacle to really cement the battle as his final boss fight. Maybe even an energy blast attack harking back to Super Mecha Sonic from S3K? To make it a solo battle, have Knuckles tell Sonic and Big that he'll handle it himself so that the two can continue on their separate missions. - Amy's physics are an important concern, but having her with Sonic's speed is actually quite fun with her hammer acrobatics still keeping her playstyle unique. In general letting Amy still be somewhat fast is generally a fun idea. Also I'm not sure if it's intentional but your drawings make it look like Amy's wearing white shorts. Her having shorts would honestly be a great idea so she can't be up-skirted. Always made me feel uncomfortable seeing up Amy's dress. - For interacting with cranks and blocks, Amy should be able to turn the former faster and maybe the latter will be automatically picked up so that she can keep her momentum. - Just a small detail, love how for many of the character's final boss artwork, they're shown roughed up alongside the boss themselves. Makes the battle seem more close and really cements Tails and Amy as serious fighters who are willing to slug such nasty hits to do what's right. - Giving the Sonic Doll a gun is absolutely hilarious, being a neat reference to Gamma's conception in it's entirety. - Also LOVE the concept (and all of your concepts honestly) of the E-Series trying to upgrade themselves out of jealousy and using their self-given upgrades to destroy Gamma. Perhaps for Delta his could look a bit more unprofessional as he's the first rescue Gamma has to do, with his cape somewhat torn and loose. Epsilon who had more time to prepare is fine as he is, but could maybe have a few scorch marks. Zeta is in perfect condition, which makes sense for her. Also noticed Gamma wearing his deceased sibling's upgrades as some sort of tribute to their deaths. Couldn't quite tell if Zeta and Epsilon gave any cosmetics, but noticed Delta's cape on Gamma's back. Perhaps Gamma's blaster could be that of Epsilon, albeit the fire purely being cosmetic. Zeta could give one of her purple pipes. After beating Gamma's story the player is given the choice to mix and match what cosmetics they'd like to wear or not. - With Gamma getting a new level in Lost World, then what will be the boss of the stage? Perhaps one of the machines Eggman used in Sonic 3, now broken and possessed by an angry Echidna Ghost. Gamma would have to completely break the ride entirely so there's nothing left for the ghost to possess. As for the reason why he'd go there, maybe after defeat Epsilon, Zeta was detected at Lost World to get parts but when Gamma gets there, Zeta already left to Hot Shelter. - For Big rolling into a ball, I'd imagine that (unlike the others who do it with skill and grace), Big ends up doing it by accident and his expression can be a dizzy one as he rolls. It wouldn't affect gameplay, but it'd be funny for Big to accidentally do massive damage like this. - OH MY GOD EVERYTHING ABOUT BIG IS JUST HILARIOUS YET SO MUCH FUN LOOKING - For the pre-Super Sonic level in his story, really love how Froggy now becomes an ally of Big, showing that the frog really does care for him now that he's not possessed by Chaos anymore. Also the new Chaos duplicates look amazing. - Also to make up for the lack of Gamma, the freed mother bird that follows Amy will actually trigger switches and even defeat some enemies in scripted sequences reminiscent of Gamma's levels in Amy's portion so that it feels like Gamma is still here in spirit. - Thank god for restoring Open Your Heart to play through the entirety of Perfect Chaos' fight - For the extra characters, maybe have an option for them to play exactly like their OG counterparts so they can be used for basically everything. Also Metal Sonic might need to be given a Super Form if the player chooses him, so perhaps Neo Metal Sonic? These extras aren't canon anyways so it's a nice call-forward I guess. - Also screw it, why not let Tails and Knuckles turn Super too? - For character's stories portraying everyone differently to reflect that character's thoughts on others, Gamma's story (alongside Super Sonic's) should be the exception, with Gamma not really having any emotional biases compared to the others and Super Sonic's story serving as a group one for all members of the cast. - Having Hidden Palace be destroyed does make sense. Considering Sky Sanctuary (which is just above it) collapsed, Hidden Palace should be crushed under all that weight which is likely why Knuckles uses the other emerald alter instead. - For the Egg Carrier losing altitude, Knuckles changing the ship's tilt in his Sky Deck definitely did some damage as well I imagine (alongside humorously making Sonic and Tails' version of the stage more tricky) so showing some smoke after he comes out of his Sky Deck would also visualise the combined antics of Sonic's, Tails' & Knuckles' Sky Decks causing the overall ship to start falling. Overall this video is a masterpiece that honestly made me cry. I didn't grow up with Sonic Adventure but heard both the good and the bad of the game, then of it's legacy. With access to a PC, I finally got to play the definitive version with mods last year. The experience was magical and despite some hiccups, I couldn't be happier with the blue hedgehog. Sonic Adventure Dream is a fitting title, one that has high ambitions just like SEGA and Sonic in general. Why hold back when there's so much to let out? Seeing all the characters go through so many emotions in your drawings alongside fleshed out ideas, it's a roller coaster of laughs, shivers, tears and a big dumb smile. I have a feeling that, whether it be from SEGA or the fans, Sonic Adventure Dream will come true. Regardless, it's still a masterpiece of a game. Just one more people need to open their heart to. *It's gonna be alright.*
Instead of Amy having a bird with her during the finale, she could instead fly solo... she is now a hero, she can stand on her own to help. Instead, the animal companion ability of Amy could be given over to Big for the finale in the form of Froggie now that the two friends are truly reunited. You get to see Big nd Froggie work together. The mechanics wouldn't change, and their sections would be small enough that it wouldn't amount to much more than a cosmetic change... but it would be a great way to connect the two characters since Sonic Adventure is all about how the six characters' stories link together.
He did mention back-porting the Bounce Bracelet into this remake, though, so I don't see why you are acting like he didn't include it. Also, it looks like Gamma's cape comes from before the Delta fight (if I recall correctly), so I'm not sure where he gets it from. You have some really good suggestions for this dream remake, though.
@@dabluepittoo-aqua4213 Fair, I do the same thing for the most part. I also just tend to go back and edit out parts of my comment if he covers those parts I would have mentioned. It's nice to meet a fellow wall-of-text writer, though. Have a nice day.
Big getting a complete and utter overhaul is MUCH NEEDED. I love SA1 and finishing it to completion, but Big's fishing levels are nothing but pain. And its honestly pretty shocking to play such slower paced levels after everything else you played was far more energetic and you were continually moving and fighting enemies. (Even Amy's levels are more entertaining) Momentum completely lost when it comes to Big's levels. I wouldnt mind his fishing being kept as an optional side activity, but not part of his main missions. But your overhaul of him makes him sound absolutely fun to play with and not an utter drag.
Hey there, I discovered your channel through your debunking ProJared video (I even commented on it), and I love your defense videos of the highly unjustly bashed sonic games while also knowing when flaws exist. I wish people like you were heard more, especially with these games :(
The scene with Chaos hugging the Chao at the end almost made me cry because of it's beauty , you my guy have evolved Sonic Adventure 1 from 9/10 to 15/10 .😁
Imagine how much more often we’d get to see characters like Knuckles, Tails, and Amy playable today if Sonic Adventure went with executions like these. Magnificent work and well worth the wait.
I feel less like it's based on how poorly they were executed and more on how badly games like Sonic 06 performed. SA1 and SA2 implemented these characters extremely well but people pretend that's all just nostalgia now.
For the most part, the different play-styles fell out of use through no fault of SA1. SA2 cut off Amy's play-style, eliminated Big's entire "gimmick", and dropped Tail's mechanics in favor of a modified variant of Gamma's controls. These being present in SA1 just to be removed for SA2 wasn't for their lack of quality...least of all in terms of any authentic quality issues since the then-contemporary fan backlash of "It sucks because it's not Sonic" doesn't speak to how good or bad the play-styles actually were. Sonic Heroes kept the three SA2 Hero-Story characters, reverting Tails back to a chunk of his SA1 controls and rewiring Knuckles' exploration-centric mobility to be more platform-capable. Thus as far out as Sonic Heroes, there's a recognition to the utility of these different play-styles. And even after Sonic '06, we see Sonic Unleashed brought back an equivalent to some of Knuckles' gameplay across SA1, SA2, and Heroes. ------ Which is ultimately the nail in the coffin to non-Sonic gameplay in Sonic games. At least as far as I can recall.
@@Bobb11881 Unleashed had "Speed Stage" Sonic, which utilize SA1/SA2 Sonic gameplay philosophy. Unleashed also had the combat-heavy "Werehog" stages, which employ a gameplay philosophy that largely derives from Knuckles' "Might" role in Heroes, which is a derivation of Knuckles' combat abilities in SA1/SA2 applied to a less-open level design than the "Gem Hunting" of SA1/SA2. In both cases, it's technically Sonic being controlled. But the gameplay and controls are indicative of two different styles of design, mechanics, and gameplay. And the backlash to the Werehog stages almost certainly impacted subsequent titles' variety (or lack thereof) in available mechanics/gameplay styles for Sonic games.
this is exceptionally phenomenal. you are an amazing artist, writer and concept creator. I could see every suggestion so clearly, the gamma story and ending story segments legitimately had me in tears (at work too, thankfully everyone was gone for the day!). whether or not this video and your ideas and concepts are ever considered and implemented, thank you for making this video. thank you for all the amazingly hard work that went into this. it's so full of love, and I feel a kinship with you and everyone else who has so much love for sonic adventure as I do. I will never stop coming back to this game. and now I will never stop coming back to this video. thank you thank you thank you so much for this beautiful work of art.
*insert standing ovation here* Absolutely amazing! The art that you made to convey your ideas was spectacular!!! Gameplay-wise, I particularly loved your rework of Tails and Big's gameplay. For Tails, flying and using his tail attack in midair to replenish your flight gauge sounds crazy fun, and I love the idea of taking advantage of Big's weight for some heavy momentum physics! Story-wise, I love the idea of Tails flashback with Sonic to take place in the same map as the unlockable Emerald Hill, I love the idea of Zero being scarily damaged for Amy's final boss (kinda reminds me of Ultron taking over one of the damaged Iron Man suits in the beginning of Age of Ultron), I love the idea of Zeta taunting Gamma during Hot Shelter causing Gamma to question his motives, I love being able to find Eggman's stone tablets, I love the idea of seeing Perfect Chaos during the flashback, and I absolutely ADORE the idea of YOUR chao being the ones to comfort Chaos in the end; I always love it in games when the player's customization effects cutscenes as well as gameplay. Seriously, there's so much good stuff in this video, and it would absolutely be a dream come true to see a Sonic Adventure remake with gameplay this fun and a story with so much attention to detail and love of the emotional substance. Well done!
11:55 We can maybe have the Flame shield return and have 3 versions Flame Shield - Heat Shield - Inferno Shield (The flame shield is the same as the classic games,The heat shield will cast a mini explosion and the Inferno shield make you able to double jump and does a bigger explosion)
Amazing video...! I have an idea about how to reduce Chao Stat Grinding: Chaining! When you give a Chao an animal which boosts a specific stat, then you give them another animal which also boosts that same stat, they get a little extra bonus EXP for that stat! However, if you give them something which does not boost that stat, the 'chain' is broken. The Chao still keeps what they earned from the chain, but you'll have to rebuild the chain if you want that bonus. This would probably make Chao Fruit very powerful. So, the order of animals you give to your Chao will play an impact on their stats.
I would change the ending to: When Tikal reaches her hand to Chaos, he would reject it. Tikal would ask why, and Chaos would explain it to her psychically. Knuckles would then ask what Chaos is saying. Tikal would respond... "I don't want to leave, at least for right now." "Seeing how these people cared for my fellow chao while I was gone, and what I have done to their home." "I think it's only fair if I stay and help fix this city," "In both a thank you, but also an apology for what I have done."
I actually prefer the propeller because it never made sense how the Jet Booster made the E-100 series hover since the discs weren't attached directly to their chassis, unlike Beta Mk. II, ZERO and Omega who either had built-in propulsion units or thrusters as part of their main chassis
Man this is all so cool and I'm geniunly sad that likely most of this will ever happen in a genuine remake. I especially like that Big is actually a genuine character. I love the big guy but having him just be a simple fisherman with actual character and emotions and be involved in the final story is really nice to see.
wow... I can't express how exited I would be if this dream were to become reality. What a fantastic video! Great ideas, fantastic story telling. Loved all the art. The way everything was put together and how everything was told. Phenomenal work!
I'm so happy that this video exists. I don't realistically expect Sega to actually listen to anything outlined here, but this is such a comprehensive and concise pitch for how to recreate Sonic Adventure, it's just begging for a team of dedicated enough fans to bring this vision out fully. I literally have nothing bad to say about this video, it covers everything with nothing but excellent ideas. I came to this channel because of the SA2 story video, but this... You've outdone yourself Ruby. I know this video is a year old and has almost half a million views, but it deserves even more.
I personally love the overpowered aspects of some of the characters, sonic gets some pretty impressive shortcuts and tails' flight was fun. I think tails should keep his overpowered gameplay but with levels to compliment it... the concept art for windy valley you showed looks like crazy fun btw. The only thing I didn't like about tails' gameplay changes was the crazy drop-off from heroes. The idea of an amy hide and seek style level sounds like a blast for windy valley, and I love to imagine a mission impossible style final egg. As for big, the idea I have is absolutely ridiculous, but what if he had escape rooms. Essentially he's captured froggy already and has to find a way out of the level. The concept of big having to use his brain or do platforming challenges to escape just sounds great to me.
Instead of Burgershop Guy being Big's unlockable character, It's Eggman in order to round out the main cast. Instead of a fishing pole he uses a lasso made from electricity that is able to draw in enemies and items.
i agree with all of this except two things 1. the rpg elements feel like they'd be really forced in, not a fan 2. keep the fishing minigame but have it be a separate optional minigame for score and rings, tying into the chao garden. you know the good video game chart, if it has a fishing minigame it's great, if it doesn't it's garbage. it's simple
Another thing I disagree with is bringing Ryan Drummond back. I loved his performances in SA2 and Heroes, but he tried doing sonic's voice in a recent interview, and it was kind of upsetting to see how off it was. Maybe it was just because he was out of practice, and with the right direction he could do the voice again, but I am worried that if they bring him back, he will not be able to capture the same energy as he used to.
@@Rhubarb120 I dunno if you've heard, but a RUclipsr named EmuEmi developed a audio drama called Sonic & Tails R. In it, she voiced Tails and Ryan Drummond voiced Sonic. Ryan sounded a little rusty at first, but started to sound more like he used to as the series went on.
I agree with everything so far. But unlockables need outfits changes. Like how cool would it be if you could unlock sonic’s old renders with the same dialogue lines. Or unlocking the jet-set radio costume. Also there needs to be easter eggs alluding to the future of SA2 or call backs from previous games. Great video man.
I just finished watching everything. HOLY SHIT, this is exactly what I would want from an SA remake and then some. Sadly, the only way I can see something like this being made is with a huge collaboration between the a huge amount of talented Sonic fans, since Sega and Sonic Team wouldn't have the budget to make such an ambitious game. PS. Thank you so much for this video, I was finally able to watch my dream remake sort of materialize.
@@gregzotter6189 no??? Videogames take a lot of manpower/ budget, thinking that bunch of fans would be able to do something and a full team of professional developers is just undermining how much a game takes to make
@@zepic3895 Considering a bunch of fans were able to create things like Green Hill Paradise, Sonic Utopia, and even Project '06, while SEGA's most recent contributions to the series were Forces and Colours Ultimate, I'd definitely bet on the fans having more talent. Fizzy *is* wrong on the budgeting aspect though, as SEGA is a multi-million dollar company so they'd eclipse the efforts of the fans in terms of budget.
This is nothing short of a pure work of art filled with love and passion. Great job Ruby, it's so good to have you back and to see you deliver so spectacularly!
"Do you remember the first time you played Sonic Adventure" Yes it was earlier this month because my 2022 resolution is to play every sonic game because I never got to when I was younger (so far I've completed 1, 2, 3 and Knuckles, CD, Adventure 1 and 2, and I'm currently on Heroes) Adventure 1 is probably my favorite Sonic Game so far :3
I'm not lying when I tell you I cried while watching this. I love the ideas so much. Maybe in the Chao Gardens, if your playing as Big and your near water, it could give you the option to fish. Your art is amazing btw!
Dude you have no idea how long I’ve been waiting for this video. You just never fail to deliver with amazing commentary and great production. All the concept art you posted on Twitter had me dying.
Holy freaking cow, this is so amazing. Not only would this be THE definitive way to play Sonic Adventure, it would also be a major best-seller (and very likely Game of the Year). THIS is how you save the Sonic series. I loved all the concept art you drew, as well. The looks on Big's face when he's performing his moves were hilarious and I loved how you paid homage to the OVA with Tails being shocked by that sudden lightning bolt and dropping the Red Chaos Emerald. Great stuff all around. I totally wish this remake was real. As the old saying often goes... SEGA, HIRE THIS MAN!
I love this game to pieces, I'd love to be involved if there's any room for me animation or story writing to make this actually happen I am no professional at either but I have a growing passion both both and would gladly work on this project with you
Currently 11 at night so I will watch this video over the week, so I'm excited to see what you have! I have seen some bits on twitter so I know it's already good! 😎
Day 1 Update (Sonic and Tails) Man, these ideas are so amazing! I adore the use of artwork to support ideas, you're very talented! Indeed Sonic is the backbone of the game, but even he has so much potential to be better, more balanced and have levels that are built more around that exploration. I've recently been watching ZoomZike and the rewards and exploits in those SA2 levels is really cool. I can imagine how the redesigned ice cap level etc. would incorperate such intrigue while also being a lot more open like that beta windy valley stage. Speaking of his videos, his crazy gadget review of sorts made me think whether a Hang Castle legacy stage would fit anywhere in the story as a bonus level or like an SA2 Green Hill zone. The reason why I chose it was because it's another level that has gravity flips whilst not being part of the story directly like the ark. I think Hang castle has potential for all the character's playstyles in a more free environment, with the inverse gravity having a lot more risk in bottomless pits. But anyway! As for Tails, I really want to see that tail-swipe move reworked with the reflect and wirlpool launch. That, and all the other changes XD Such good ideas for his stages, balancing the flying mechanic whilst simultaniously making it more fun was no easy feat! Nice job! Man, this video makes me feel like it's actually happening, I'd love nothing more than to see this happen and to see your hard work paid off too! Sega better see thissss Tails in Hang Castle could be where he crashlands after Sky Chase Act 1, Sonic falling either where he was or where Tails ended up originally. Tails would find his way out the castle which takes him to the mountains near the mystic room forest. Perhaos over the other side of Eggmans Forest base and then a little further, thus leading to the Red chaos emerald scene with froggy on his way back.
Day 2 Update (Knuckles, Amy, Gamma) Man it's hard to stop watching XD The more I see the better it gets and it's just so cool! Knuckles was definately a character that didn't need much extra. I really love the concept for Sand Hill, so well thought through! Amy isn't far off her ideal self, I agree a focus on bouncy gameplay is a really cool idea. While you're likely fed up of my Hang Castle suggestions, with Amy, it may well fit into her story. Near the end, she first goes to the mystic ruins forest to find the birdie's family, but it feels like a wasted journey just going to the forest base for a level being chased, to then backtrack to the crash site. Perhaps Amy finds the way into the base from the forest then uses an exit on the other side that takes her to the Hang Castle where she is lost. Perhaps another dark, try not to be detected level, there can be some really unique hammer bounce activations. The gravity switch can be instant (rather than slow like heroes), and by chaining switches on the floor and the ceiling with hammer bounces, you need to constantly adapt controls to get across a gap for example! The end of the level can see her finding her way out which takes her to the tunnel of the train track. Walking down it, she finds her way to the mystic ruins train station where she can immediately find the crash site after a cutscene, or going the other way, to station square where a mirrored cutscene plays hinting at the boat just in front of the station. As it is at dawn, it fits coming after the Hang Castle dark level and is midday by the time she fights Zero for the last time (fitting in with how Gamma is only at dusk/dawn). I love the power ups you've given her and adjustments to make her moveset just flow better with what adventure is really all about. As for Gamma, yeah I hadn't thought about the robots he fights and why he fights them, incorperating the dolls is a good idea but maybe there's a more cohearent way to do it. For example, the robots should (theoretically) already be destoyed by sonic, so maybe some of the scraps can become trigger happy hazards that make for a good proper first level enemy. These can become mixed in with further stages to give Gamma's levels more of an identity which further emphasises the dark-behind-the curtain-vibe of his perspective; fallen allies' corpses. It acts as a double meaning. As a first time player these symbolise "fallen allies for Gamma" which may seem eerie to them. But as someone who knows the story, the robots are actually free, foreshadowing for what Gamma will attempt to do later and maybe even inspiring him with an end-level cutscene showing a bird with its leg caught in a broken mechanism, who Gamma then frees and watches fly away.
One question about the storyline, if the chaos emerald is removed from the Tornado 2, how can Big get it to work at all? Would there be residule energy or can it glide?
You know, this got me thinking about the cool interactions that Sonic could have with water in this. You've designed such cool ideas for how tails and knuckles could work in water, but not for sonic. This could be our chance to have an adventure styled sonic that can run on water. Maybe sonic could have the ability to make large waves on the water by running that he could then use as ramps. Perhaps he could have some sort of ability which allows him to create vortexes in water that suck in enemies and items, or things like that. Maybe Amy's long hammer could have the extra feature of allowing her to do a pole vaulting like ability that let's her cross distance with long jumps with the sacrifice of having to stop non order to do it.
But, the fact that Sonic does not like water and can't swim is a big part of his character. Sure, maybe Sonic could run on water if you have enough momentum, but I feel like he shouldn't have any fancy water tricks
That's 3 hours of my life I don't think I'll ever regret having spent, this was an absolutely excellently crafted video and the beautiful concept art elevated every idea shared. Thank you for making such a great video. Only time can tell if we ever get a truly spectacular remake of SA1, but if it's anything close to this, it'd probably be my game of the decade.
That... was an experience. Not even kidding, these kinds of brainstorms give me LIFE, even if they may never come to be. This was better than anything I could have expected. Then again, I wouldn't expect anything less from one of the few fans who recognizes the Classic series for what it is, and where it ends. Gaming in general has become very soulless, money-grubbing, creatively bankrupt, lacking in quality content, and home to VERY poisonous mob mentality, full of fandoms with a sheep-like mindset of uncritical and unconditional acceptance of whatever garbage a corporation dishes out, as long as their favorite character is on the front cover. With the way things are, it's hard to imagine anyone could even THEORIZE a concept for a new game, or a game that already exists, but is technologically dated. And any remake we DO get usually obliterates the character of the original for the sake of just... having better graphics, or looking "realistic". Like the infamous Halo 1 Anniversary by 343 Industries. Full disclosure, I ABHOR what that development team has done to Halo. Thankfully, videos like this are what give people, dare-I-say, a sense of hope that maybe creativity isn't quite dead. And for that, you have my thanks, Ruby. But y'know the only thing I would have changed about all this? If I were in charge of a hypothetical SA1 remake, I'd retain the intended Saturn-era aesthetic that the crew was planning on using in early development, right down to the more rounded rubberhose Ohshima designs for the characters from the 16-bit entries, even adapting Sonic's original run cycles to 3D animation. Don't get me wrong, I'm aware that a lot of people (including you, obviously) love Yuji Uekawa's more stylistic versions of the character redesigns, ESPECIALLY compared to the lame, disproportionate, lazily-implemented modern models that the current development team vomits out with a total lack of interest... ...but I still theorize that the only reason we have the modern designs in the first place is because they were forced onto the developers by a corporation who assumed Sonic's "cuter" design was the reason it was performing poorly in Japan. There's a lot of behind-the-scenes evidence (including uncut Classic content in the Dreamcast port like the Casinopolis Pinball machine) that implies they were GOING to go for a Sonic Jam style for Adventure 1 that would have been even MORE colorful and even MORE fantastical. But then SEGA meddled with the blueprints. My mindset is that Sonic absolutely has to function under the lens and design philosophies of his initial creator, or someone who has studied and understands the intent of the initial creator. Sonic can't exist in a consistent manner if he's supervised by the opinions of a million fans, or a bunch of disconnected corporate figureheads who are only concerned with money. For the sake of artistic integrity, maximum authenticity to the roots of the series, and to honor Naoto Ohshima, the man who created the character in the first place, I'd keep Sonic and the crew the way they always looked from the start, with a few tweaks. They weren't too bad in the OVA animations. Maybe mesh that with the Jam aesthetic...
@@darnorgames3318 I'm not sure if it was something that specific that warranted redesigns, especially when the redesigns made the characters technically bigger than the Classic variants. But for all we know, it COULD be. The Dreamcast version had to have a lot of cut content due to technical limitations.
@@theholygamer969 It was confirmed in an SA1 artbook, I don't remember which, sadly - but I first saw that tidbit in Game Apologist's video about why modern Sonic matters.
i personally can't agree with this. it's not a bias towards any particular artstyle (despite what my pfp may lead you to believe lol), but moreso just a matter of preserving the artistic style of a game. regardless of why we ended up with the uekawa redesigns, it's the designs we have, and i think altering the game they were made for to look more like ohshima's design would be just as bad as those "remakes" that just make everything look modern and "realistic". you're throwing away the artstyle of a game in favor of one you personally feel is "better". whether it is or isn't can be debated but it's not the point, it's that regardless we're still throwing away the artstyle the game had.
I absolutely love this video, there’s so many great ideas Also, the idea for the history of the Master Emerald Shrine and the people who built it at 2:29:46 has aged phenomenally because of Sonic Frontiers
Also for the final story gameplay section, remember how Rouge in SA2 has chaos emeralds instead of shards for one of her objectives? the SA2 final story could bring that back, and then you only need one gameplay segment each for Tails, Amy, Big and Sonic (Or Cream or Tikal if you want to leave sonic out until the supersonic segment for story reasons.)
Dude, before watching this video i was hard set on thinking the remake needed to delete Big altogether. But your design concepts are absolutely brilliant and a grounded yet fully comedic tone is exactly what Big needs to be a good character. You’ve convinced me, if something like that is planned for the remake im 100% on board. Fantastic video! It needs more views!
Holy. Crap. This video is AMAZING. Some of my favorite types of videos on RUclips are ones that dissect things about games and come up with ways of changing or adding onto them. But this? A 3-hour long video about a potential remake of a game with multiple different intersecting stories? YES!
It would cool if in the background of Capital Torment you can see Sonic , Tikal and the ghosts of the Echidna tribe members trying to distract Chaos from stoping Tails , Amy , Knuckles and Big who are collecting the Chaos Emeralds .
If you're redesigning all the levels you don't need to leave in an auto camera. Sonic GT doesn't need an auto camera because it has versatile level design, it just needs a well-thought-out universal camera.
Amazing video. The story segments were my favorite parts. An idea to hit home that Chaos 0 is passive again I imagine is for him to be more expressive and chao like in behavior.
The models should look like artist spoonScribble's fan models. Those are the best fan models i've ever seen and EXTREMELY animation friendly. I'm in love with his work and anyone who doesn't know him should look him up righ now, and Sega should hire him.
I'm not sure if you've seen First 4 Figures recent Sonic Adventure statue, but it perfectly brought Yuji Uekawa's artstyle to 3D. To me, that'd be the ideal way to handle the character models.
@@SuperNitroZ64 Nah. Looks too much like the models from the original game. Too puffy and chibi like. It's fine for the Dreamcast since that was their first attempt at a modern in game model, but now they should go for authenticity to the art since they're capable of it now.
Solid video, your drawings perfectly illustrate what you're saying, the changes would enhance the gameplay and stories. Having a few mobians would also explain Eggman's disdain towards Station Square, resenting the residents acceptance of mobians, rather than flooding a city full of humans that Eggman doesn't care about.
The gameplay additions are simply incredible my man, I would pay triple the price of a regular game for this stuff. Also, your additions to the story really did something beautiful with an already strong premise. I’ll admit, I really hate most Sonic game rewrites I’ve come across on RUclips, so after your sections on the gameplay and presentation, I almost skipped your assessment and reworking of the story. I’m so glad I didn’t. Sonic Team would be lucky to have you
this video was legitimately incredible. one of the most indepth and comprehensive ideas out there, and already one of 2022's youtube greats imho. keep it up!
This would be the perfect readaptation of a Sonic game. As someone pointed out, this wouldn’t technically be a remake if you do a complete overhaul by adding new story elements, as well as ditching Big’s fishing gimmick in favor of regular platforming to reach the end of stages like with most characters in the game. But these extra details and improvements would better flesh out not only the story and characters, but the entire game to make this an unforgettable experience for Sonic fans, especially those who never play the original Sonic Adventure. One improvement that I would make is that in Amy’s story when she travels to the past, she MUST be on the path to the Emerald Shrine and reach it to trigger the next cutscene like with Big & Gamma and NOT in the area with most of the echidnas tribe members. If you play through the characters’ stories in order and play through Tails’ story, you would assume there would be an upgrade to find somewhere in that area before going somewhere else on the map to trigger the next cutscene with Tikal. Who would have ever think about going through the presumably sealed doors behind her to find Tikal on their first playthrough of the original game after going around the area for 5-10 minutes for a possible upgrade just to advance the story?
Man, it's so weird because I thought of if Adventure ever got a remake, Big should have absolute destructive gameplay to compliment his size lol (and use his rod as a grapple hook but that's so easy to come up with). Cool to see what I had in mind once being better explained and visualised here. The story remake you have in mind felt perfect. It has a lot of heart in it and takes itself seriously but never too seriously. Only thing that still bothers me is the Chaos Emeralds just popping out of Sonic when he gets hit by Knuckles. But I guess Knuckles just has the power of "Yeeting Chaos Emeralds out of one's self" as he did it in Sonic 3 too lol.
Ngl, I'd love the whole "Knuckles can keet the Chaos Emeralds out of people" thing to be explained in-depth. If I had to guess, though, it's probably because of his connection to the Master Emerald--that is to say, he channels the Master Emerald's power in order to forcibly deactivate the Chaos Emeralds.
I think the best way to fix the spam-dash would be that when using it you would lose your current momentum and soon come to a stop so that you have something similar to the original idea of having to stop, except without having to first come to a full stop first. Instead of simply trading your current momentum for a burst of speed.
One thing I *ABSOLUTELY LOVE* about Sonic Adventure 1 is how the dialogue of the characters changes somewhat based on who you are playing. Like how with Tails Eggman sounds much more intimidating when with Sonic, it's the same cutscene, but you feel how it's different for everyone.
Woah. That was Happenin. I loved the entire video but my favorite parts were the Gameplay sections, Unlockable Content, & the added anthro NPC's. Heck, I could see one of them opening a shop in Station Square, selling a variety of character cosmetics like the optional black eyes, or classic character designs in general. Beta designs for Gamma & Big? Deco designs for the Tornado models? Playing as the Tornado prototype? Options to turn off character upgrades in the menu? I can go on. 0-0 One Addon I'd love to see is a way to return to the Echidna Tribe hub after completing the story. It would help alleviate stress for finding the character upgrades for an easier 100%. Perhaps around the Master Emerald in the hub area Tikal can be seen & allow access to that era of time., & vice versa.
Alright, SO! This is a really great video, and I'm gonna add my vote to the pile of really loving what you did with Big here! I think it does a good job of refocusing on and emphasizing the most charming and worthwhile aspects of his character. In regards to his fishing, though, I don't think it necessarily needs to be cut altogether so much as just demoted to optional minigame status, maybe as a way to grind Rings for the Chao Garden. Heck, you could even make it so that the places he can fish would sometimes have small animals swimming around that you could fish up! This would fairly obviously be biased in favor of Swim-focused animals, so it might be beneficial to include similar unique methods for other characters to grab Run, Power, and Fly animals more reliably, too. As well, though I definitely understand the "comic relief-to-comic relief" reasoning behind the burger mascot as Big's unlockable counterpart, Bark the Polar Bear would be a fun deep cut unlock for that role, as well! Granted, maybe I just think this because Big and Bark have similarly-bulky body shapes. I also think, if the unlockable alternate characters are going to be more powerful than their main story counterparts, it might be best to sort ghost races not just by stage, but by specific character, as well, in the interest of fairness. For the Last Story, I actually think it'd be cool if Tails, Amy, and Big each sought out singular Chaos Emeralds serving as goals of platforming stages in each character's respective flavor (with maybe the Chaos Spawn filling in for Zero to apply a similar pressure for Amy), and Knuckles hunting down three by himself to echo his personal story stages. The seventh Emerald could've landed near where the gang starts, so that they A: don't need to go searching for it and B: could look at it for the sake of cutscene choreography while they're talking about finding the rest. This is kind of a tiny detail, but one specific thing I'd address in a remake is how Gamma's Checkpoints always start him off with a constant 1 minute remaining on his timer (IIRC), which IMO should be manually rebalanced by individual checkpoint, so each one starts him off with a reasonable, but still consequential, time limit in which to complete the remainder of the stage. Hard Modes of his stages might also incorporate recalibrating time limit adjustments to be tighter relative to what Hard Mode is asking you to do within the stage. Since you're already backporting SA2 mechanics where appropriate, it might be neat to see how a Volkan Cannon works on Gamma, too.
I've worked on this video for over a year, so it'd be AMAZING if you could keep sharing it to anyone who may be interested! Sonic fan or not! Thanks guys :)
From what you described Ruby of Blue Is exactly what we need for the sonic adventure remake Of the skills And the upgrades

YES.
Yes
YESSSSS!!!!!! This reminds me of how if you get all of the chaos emeralds in the mobile remake of Sonic 2, after the credits you can see the death egg crashing on angel island and see Knuckles’ eyes in a bush (Like Sonic 3’s US Box art) while Eggman is pouting.
That would be incredible.
To be continue in Sonic Adventure 2.
So many things I have to say bro
1. Your drawings are absolutely fantastic
2. Your storytelling with your pictures the music and dialogue really gets you immersed
3. The scene with Tikal and Knuckles near the end made me crack a tear that’s how immersed I was in this and I’ve played the game so many times at this point.
Truly a masterpiece
Don't be sad if this video, it's script and editing is all conceived, generated and published without any human intervention in the process.
Very cool video dude. A lot of really good ideas in here.

1:08:12 That Big animation is absolute perfection
Honestly, the version of Big's story shown here is one I would look forward to

The Tails and Chaos 6 "cutscenes" are also perfect
its been a year and a half, but I still keep coming back to this video. this is probably like, my favorite piece of sonic fan content, ever. when they inevitably do remake sonic adventure I know that I'll just be disappointed no matter what now because there's no way that they'd do it so much justice down to every last detail like you outlined here lol. I know I already left a comment a while ago when the video came out but I felt compelled to leave another one just to let you know how much I appreciate this video. thank you
@BillehBawb
This is definitely a bit of a long shot..., but I hope that whenever Sega decides to finally do a Sonic Adventure Remake and a Sonic Adventure 2 Remake, I hope that they pull a Sonic Mania (a videogame made by fans for the fans...) and hire Ruby of Blue to be the main Creative Director behind it after watching his videos on the Sonic Adventure games and seeing how genuinely passionate he is about it all...
Also maybe confirm the theory that Station Square is on Westside Island.
I absolutely agree. That basically is a certainty considering what the Sonic 2 manual says. I wish that they'd actually reference the fact that the mystic ruins are on westside island so we wouldn't have to consider that a "theory" any more.
It would be interesting if Hydrocity was somehow related to Perfect Chaos' rampage. Seeing as how half of the entire fucking stage is underwater.
@@2balls4me Yeah just like Labrynth Zone I definitely believed any underwater stage had to do with Chaos
And then at the end of the game, the islands could rejoin to the mainland where most humans live, setting up every game afterwards.
for Tails, I'd add a scene of him defusing the dropped bomb after defeating Eggman. kind of like what they did with the missile in sonic X. which makes a lot more sense than just ignoring the missile entirely. maybe you need to still beat the bomb dropping robot and Eggman to the site, but it still drops giving you a time limit to defeat Eggman so Tails can safely defuse the bomb. basically if you didn't make it to the end in the time limit in speed highway Tails wouldn't have enough time to safely defuse the bomb after beating an (now ahead of and prepared for him) Eggman.
ruclips.net/video/h2dHw6TgZ4g/видео.html sonic youtuber
“ Mission Failed: Tails was incinerated by Dr. Eggmans bomb. “
That would be cool
Also, have several versions of the same track. In this context, the background music would be an orchestral climactic tense version of Speed Highway rather than the "way past cool" version of Sonic's story.

The Super Sonic story you wrote literally made me cry.

Yo I also cried at the super sonic story
The part where chaos look like crying was the icing of the cake.
Ruby Of Blue DID make a Pokemon fan series with Manifest Heart. and im surprised he didn't give his Sonic Adventure remake the same treatment
and the closest thing we have to this is Sonic X's adaptation of Sonic Adventure's story
GET ME A WORD OR NOTEPAD DOC AND I'LL TRANSLATE THIS INTO PROPER STORY.
True. I think only the second aspect with him dashing multiple nearby trails is good, though. The charge up is just a pace breaker.
In contrast, sonic heroes was instantaneous but requires you to be PERFECTLY lined up with the rings
ruclips.net/video/h2dHw6TgZ4g/видео.html sonic youtuber
but i think it still could be improved if there was a way to easily prevent a light speed attack when attempting a light speed dash, maybe by requiring more simultaneous button presses to perform the attack variant. this would allow for more tight placement of enemies and ring trails while giving the player more reliable control over whether they do a dash or an attack. also, maybe add some ring trails that double as a way to destroy a long line of enemies at the same time, something like that would feel SO satisfying.
@@kenpanderz672 How about a marker that shows what would be attacked/collected?
2:18:28 Love how tails expression and the lightning is a reference to the Sonic OVA when tails got scared of lightning.
It’s pretty funny
I literally just started playing this game again, this game, heroes, and unleashed were such a large part of my childhood.
Or you could just make them sections where Tails loses track of Sonic.
That's actually a great idea. Lol.
A few little Easter eggs and references to litter into the game;
- Cream and Cheese greet the player in the first Chao Garden they enter and say they visit this place a lot to play and that the player can raise the Chao however they wish (basically a reintroduction of the Chao Garden mechanic plus some hints for the Sonic Advanced series).
Those sounds very cool!
Very cool
Bravo good work so many ideas and so much time
@@Dairunt1 Adding on to that Pumpkin Hill Easter Egg, perhaps we could also throw in more easter eggs to other stages, such as…
- the archaeologists in Mystic Ruins mentioning rumors of a pyramid filled with ghosts (alluding to Sandopolis or Eggman’s Pyramid, it could go both ways)
- the addition of a blocked pathway filled with construction signs detailing the “Repairing of Radical Highway/Route 101/280” (some NPCs could also make comments on how fun it would feel to skateboard down these areas, thus making another allusion to City Escape)
- there could be a shop selling postcards of various Unleashed locations (Apotos, Spagonia, Empire City, etc.) that could be added as collectibles
- the addition of two NPCs in Station Square who recently got engaged and plan to visit Soleanna for their honeymoon
- in Eggman’s Base, there could be a journal containing blueprints of “Eggmanland”, which appear to resemble the stage of the same name in Unleashed or even his theme park in Colors
- and adding on to the Colors reference, this could actually be connected to the Cream cameo in Chao Garden where one of the things she could talk about his hearing rumors of a “lush planet inhabited by cute aliens that grant *colorful* superpowers to whoever is kind to them”
- for fans of Sonic X, the addition of a bunch of elementary schooler NPCs who talk about a kid in their class who “has a businessman for a dad, a supermodel for a mom, an inventor for a grandad, and a mansion for a house”, to which they express their jealousy
- a nerdy NPC carrying a bunch of books, two of which specifically being Knights of the Round Table and the Arabian Nights
- (my personal favorite) a flyer in the train station mentioning the debut of a “self-automated” express train, which also mentions it as a “popular spot for fans of Hercule Pierrot” (obviously to avoid copyright they pull a Herlock Sholmes and corrupt his name a little bit, also this is obviously alluding to The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog)
- (another pretty good one) once again connected to the Cream Cameo, she could mention rumors of a “bunch of islands inhabited by cute tiny rock creatures and advanced technology”
Yo! These ideas are on fire!
Also I think Eggman's motive for destroying station square can be changed a bit. He wants to destroy station square because it's the capital of the United Federations, who are responsible for his grandfather's tragedy
Maybe a easteregg of a specific prisioner at G.u.n or something
What if, Gerald's journal is in the Egg Carrier while it's airborn, but after it crashed the journal's gone? It could hint that Eggman values it enough to save it.

@@İdiotchevy as of what I've seen, the mods can't reach such high levels as this, it needs more years
I do like what you did with Big making him a platformer character with Heroes elements but I still think the fishing segments should at least be a little bonus thing for players who liked those sections in the OG game can experience them.
Do what Majora's Mask 3D did and turn fishing into the most ridiculously in-depth minigame ev- oh wait, the Chao Garden would be in this game.
My idea would be to have the fishing as bonus-stages after his mainstages that can be skipped. And of course get unlocked to be traveled to instantly even if they aren't played right away.
@@lpfan4491 what if big gets elemental shields from those mini games?
@@robertwyatt3912 How would that work?
I don’t trust modern sega to do ANY of this, but hopefully a couple of fans can make this a reality someday

I usually work better alone.

great video man
I cannot imagine how big of an undertaking this must have been. If you ever decide to do a video on an SA2 remake, i cannot wait for it!
Some of the ideas I have here are alternate ways of encorporating things you've thought of adding in other ways!:
Along with the RPG mechanics involving the shop, we should also be able to use our XP, or perhaps even collected rings throughout both the overworld and stages to buy cosmetics for each of the characters, such as Sonic's SOAP shoes, or a ribbon for Amy referencing her 2D appearance, with the priciest of unlockable cosmetics being full outfit changes for the characters.
- OH MY GOD EVERYTHING ABOUT BIG IS JUST HILARIOUS YET SO MUCH FUN LOOKING
- For the pre-Super Sonic level in his story, really love how Froggy now becomes an ally of Big, showing that the frog really does care for him now that he's not possessed by Chaos anymore.
- Thank god for restoring Open Your Heart to play through the entirety of Perfect Chaos' fight
- For the extra characters, maybe have an option for them to play exactly like their OG counterparts so they can be used for basically everything.
@@syweb2 Yeah, I was filling it out as I watched so a few points might have already been covered later on in the video. My bad.
Ok, I'm imagining it. Uh... My imagination tells me that the answer to how often we'd get to play as those characters is "at all".
------
Which is ultimately the nail in the coffin to non-Sonic gameplay in Sonic games. At least as far as I can recall.
@@onijester56 Unleashed only had Sonic in his two forms.

Absolutely amazing!
Well done!
11:55 We can maybe have the Flame shield return and have 3 versions
Flame Shield - Heat Shield - Inferno Shield
(The flame shield is the same as the classic games,The heat shield will cast a mini explosion and the Inferno shield make you able to double jump and does a bigger explosion)
this is hugely impressive. the amount of artwork alone that was drawn for this project is amazing!
I would change the ending to:
When Tikal reaches her hand to Chaos, he would reject it.
Honestly Gamma’s Jet Booster is just too iconic for me to get behind replacing it with the propeller.
I actually prefer the propeller because it never made sense how the Jet Booster made the E-100 series hover since the discs weren't attached directly to their chassis, unlike Beta Mk. II, ZERO and Omega who either had built-in propulsion units or thrusters as part of their main chassis
Concept DOES make sense in hindsight.
DUDE!!! THESE IDEAS ARE AMAZING!!! I want to play these Ideas.
The concept of big having to use his brain or do platforming challenges to escape just sounds great to me.
maybe puzzles similar to captain toad or portal?
Instead of Burgershop Guy being Big's unlockable character, It's Eggman in order to round out the main cast. Instead of a fishing pole he uses a lasso made from electricity that is able to draw in enemies and items.
Nah. Eggman will be a Sonic costume. Even with Eggman voice lines. Need him rolling around at the speed of sound 😂
i agree with all of this except two things
1. the rpg elements feel like they'd be really forced in, not a fan
2. keep the fishing minigame but have it be a separate optional minigame for score and rings, tying into the chao garden. you know the good video game chart, if it has a fishing minigame it's great, if it doesn't it's garbage. it's simple
I mean... SA1 was originally an RPG game
@@Improvisado64 yes, that's why I said was...

Yes it was earlier this month because my 2022 resolution is to play every sonic game because I never got to when I was younger (so far I've completed 1, 2, 3 and Knuckles, CD, Adventure 1 and 2, and I'm currently on Heroes)

Holy freaking cow, this is so amazing. Not only would this be THE definitive way to play Sonic Adventure, it would also be a major best-seller (and very likely Game of the Year). THIS is how you save the Sonic series. I loved all the concept art you drew, as well. Currently 11 at night so I will watch this video over the week, so I'm excited to see what you have! I have seen some bits on twitter so I know it's already good! 😎
Day 1 Update (Sonic and Tails)
Man, these ideas are so amazing!
Sega better see thissss
Tails in Hang Castle could be where he crashlands after Sky Chase Act 1, Sonic falling either where he was or where Tails ended up originally. Tails would find his way out the castle which takes him to the mountains near the mystic room forest. Perhaos over the other side of Eggmans Forest base and then a little further, thus leading to the Red chaos emerald scene with froggy on his way back.
Day 2 Update (Knuckles, Amy, Gamma)
Man it's hard to stop watching XD The more I see the better it gets and it's just so cool!
Absolutely beautiful. I love everything about this, the artwork the ideas THE STORY... amazing job.
Thank you so much!
On Dreamcast, classic models had too big heads, which is why they had to be redesigned.
@@darnorgames3318 Hm. Well, THAT'S peculiar.
i personally can't agree with this. it's not a bias towards any particular artstyle (despite what my pfp may lead you to believe lol), but moreso just a matter of preserving the artistic style of a game. regardless of why we ended up with the uekawa redesigns, it's the designs we have, and i think altering the game they were made for to look more like ohshima's design would be just as bad as those "remakes" that just make everything look modern and "realistic". you're throwing away the artstyle of a game in favor of one you personally feel is "better". whether it is or isn't can be debated but it's not the point, it's that regardless we're still throwing away the artstyle the game had.
I absolutely love this video, there’s so many great ideas
Also, the idea for the history of the Master Emerald Shrine and the people who built it at 2:29:46 has aged phenomenally because of Sonic Frontiers
Big as a NPC would be ok.
Sonic only playable would be better.

Ever since I saw the first snippets of this on Twitter, I've been dying waiting to see this. Can't wait to give this a watch whenever I have the time.
Holy. Crap.
This video is AMAZING. Some of my favorite types of videos on RUclips are ones that dissect things about games and come up with ways of changing or adding onto them. But this? A 3-hour long video about a potential remake of a game with multiple different intersecting stories? YES!
This is a Masterpiece of a Adventure Remake ideas and etc.
I really like all the art you did for the remake version. I love the additions to Amy's gameplay here. Excellent work!
cannot believe you managed to make big look really fun
It would cool if in the background of Capital Torment you can see Sonic , Tikal and the ghosts of the Echidna tribe members trying to distract Chaos from stoping Tails , Amy , Knuckles and Big who are collecting the Chaos Emeralds .
If you're redesigning all the levels you don't need to leave in an auto camera. Sonic GT doesn't need an auto camera because it has versatile level design, it just needs a well-thought-out universal camera.
Nah, you're definitely gonna need an automatic camera for a game with set pieces like Adventure.
Nah, they should be based on that of BandicootBrawl96, 'cause I think those were created with the Dreamcast aesthetic in mind.
@@SuperNitroZ64
Nah.
Having a few mobians would also explain Eggman's disdain towards Station Square, resenting the residents acceptance of mobians, rather than flooding a city full of humans that Eggman doesn't care about.
i've watched this video so many times and never another video has made me cry each time. this video. its perfect.
Sonic Team would be lucky to have you
Why do you hate most of those rewrites that you've come across?
this video was legitimately incredible. one of the most indepth and comprehensive ideas out there, and already one of 2022's youtube greats imho.
But I guess Knuckles just has the power of "Yeeting Chaos Emeralds out of one's self" as he did it in Sonic 3 too lol.
ruclips.net/video/h2dHw6TgZ4g/видео.html sonic youtuber
One think I would like is a little bonus story where you play as Tikal and Chaos, fleshing out their backstories more
One thing I *ABSOLUTELY LOVE* about Sonic Adventure 1 is how the dialogue of the characters changes somewhat based on who you are playing.
One Addon I'd love to see is a way to return to the Echidna Tribe hub after completing the story.
