Most of them are so cheap because they are expensive as fuck to register, tax, insure, repair and run...The anual tax on that W8 Passat is 1800 euros / year. The registration tax is somewhere at 3300 euros. The insurance is somewhere at 2000 euros / year ( depends alot on the driver tho ). These cars are very far from cheap.
Where are you from if i may ask? I like that you speak, now i don't even have to read the text! Which makes these videos even more perfect for just killing some time in a great way :)
I was considering literally ALL of these cars a few years ago, and went for 2 liter turbo Lancia due to lower maintenance cost mainly. And today... I wouldn't sell this car, it's just so lovely (and whimsical...), but still some youngtimer V8 would surely be nice and AWD A8 is probably winning me. But that's not important. Man - less writing, more speaking. You have a vast field to improve and you'll do it in no time, can't wait for another vid.

I've worked on a lot of different cars over the years and I remember guys back in the day always blaming ecu failure, when it was something else, during a diagnosis only to get the customer to leave. But sadly certain model Toyotas had these faulty capacitors like the camry, Corolla, Tercel, 4runners, supra, Celica and I'm a huge Toyota fan and it drives me nuts. The 540i and 740i m62 4.4l are plagued with timing chain guide failure... I had a 2001 740i Sport and it cost me thousands to maintain and repair it yearly. Although I've heard that the V12 740il's are considerably more reliable, ironic if you ask me!
All junk. I drive a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis (same as Ford Crown Vic) This is one of Ford's Panther platform cars, and the last big American car you can still buy in driveable condition. GM dropped their Caprice back in the mid '90s, leaving Ford as the only manufacturer of big American V8 powered cars. It is a rock solid car, capable of going well over 300,000 miles, It has a V8 engine, RWD, solid rear axle (no flimsy IRS), body on frame construction, conservative styling, and an interior right out of the '70s. It has 4 wheel discs, and rack and pinion steering. The front suspension is built like something for a truck. Parts and service are inexpensive. The ride is smooth and quiet, but still has enough road feel. It's handling is absolutely amazing for a 2 ton car. It has been used as a police car nation wide for decades. I got mine from the original owner with 47,000 miles on it for $6500. Original MSRP was $31,000 in 2006. Quite a bargain I'd say. Way better than any of those Japanese and European cars.
The LS400 is not junk. The 1UZ it's subsequent revisions is well known as one of the most reliable engines ever built. Yes, the first revision of the 1UZ was a bit gutless, but this was 1989 after all. An '04-06 LS430 can be had for
ibtarnine Agreed. I actually own a 1991 LS400 The engine I wouldn't say is gutless. It does have less power than the later models of the 1UZ... but just as strong. I really enjoy my LS400
Gerald Scott My LS400 will out corner a Crown Vic with ease aka independent rear suspension... which like you said... the crown has solid rear axle also I will out pull a Crown Vic
The cops use Crown Vics, not LS400s. The solid rear axle is a major plus. It is much stronger than IRS, and has no parts to constantly wear out. I had a 2001 Chevy Malibu (my first and LAST front wheel drive car) and had nothing but problems with the rear suspension. I had to replaced the bushings 3 times in 5 years due to rot, and it had to be realigned each time. The parts were made of stamped sheet metal. There are no sheet metal parts on a Crown Vic suspension. The front control arms are heavy cast aluminum. The stock bushings are polyurethane. The car is body on frame. The whole car is built like a tank. Or at least a truck.
Gerald Scott Well considering my bushings lasted over 220k miles on my Lexus LS400 I am trying to tell you that you are generalizing all independent rear suspension systems. Not all cars wear out bushings that quick... And you are using a GM in this generalization which isn't accurate because GM LCA (Lower Control Arm) bushings don't make it past 150k... You cannot simply use one car as a generalization for all independent rear suspension. lol you have to look at each individual design which GM no offense... they do not design things to last. And yeah you are correct US Police cruisers are Crown Victoria... but still my point stands... my LS400 will out corner your Crown Victoria... why? simple physics will explain that to you.
Hey I've been a follower of your channel for a long time and i love the videos you upload, makes me look forward to the next video you upload but please add the description too , because i normally pause the video read the description and enjoy the video about the vehicle but when only your voice is there it's kinda hard to learn and enjoy the video. Anyway looking forward to more content and good luck with the channel :D :D
The later facelift Jaguar S (2004.5-2008) came with a 4.2 V8 with 300 BHP and 0-60 of 5.7. The supercharged version had 400 BHP and a 0-60 of 4.8. The best engines of the lot.
Here in the USA, a cheap V8 is usually attached to something from the 70's or 80's like an Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme or a Ford Fairmont. Those were pretty dreadful cars back then, but they're simple and the engines can be made better with a few changes. The other good option is a truck, either a pickup like an F-150 or an early (and inappropriately named) sport utility like a Dodge Ramcharger or a Chevy/Suburban or Tahoe. At least they're far cheaper to fix than a Mercedes...
VisioRacer There is no possibility that, € currency rate will be higher then $ currency... U don't even know how to calculate.. Don't u like correction comments or what? Little excuse might cover ur ignorance young man... By the way 7eleven markets located on entire globe (-:
Sir, you don't even understand what I said. Europe is a different market, the USA is a completely different market, thus the prices are very different and cannot be converted. Btw. 7Eleven may have shop located in Antarctica and still won't have the same prices as in the USA, Europe, Asia or anywhere else.
VisioRacer It won't be same ofcourse which depends on economical criterias... But if u check those currencies ratios on worlwide bases, u will never be able to see € rate lower then $ rate... This is the main topic that u must understand. What u've mentioned on your vid is completely wrong... Today 1 €uro equals 1.06 US$ (including Antarctica)
Haldun Gelelioglu Why don't you listen to what he's trying to tell you. A car that sells in America can be way harder to find in parts of Europe. And if it's harder to find or get the price will shoot up. Think of it like this. Try to buy a Corvette in japan.. it's not only rare there but also harder to get there. That's what the guy was trying to tell you.
loved the voice over, it is great to have you tell us about the cars! Could you do a Video with Opels? I drive a Tigra Twintop 1.8 and it deserves more reputation, it is a great little sporty convertible with quite a tuning potential!
there's nothing that you need to improve, but you seem a bit nervous about it. but , I guess, you'll get used to it. pls " visioracer loves this comment"
VisioRacer(be sure to reply!) you can check out my channel for my voice I can do voiceover for you but I will need better recording instruments from you . But hey , I don't think you would, I mean come on why would a RUclipsr with almost 200,000 subs ask for help to a 50subs RUclipsr.
From a guy who was a mechanic I can assure you that everyone single one of them is a nightmare to maintain except for lexus , and the reason they are so cheap is they are so cheap that they already come with a lot of broken stuff that costs thousands to fix . But you also need to remember that well maintained ones don't come cheap either and they are very attractive to buyers , I bought this year a 2003 e39 with 55K miles from a one owner who kept the vehicle in an almost very excellent condition for beyond $13,000 and will continue to rise in price .
VisioRacer keep up the great work! I really enjoy the newer videos with you talking but I agree with some in saying that you should speak and put text as well. Your English is quite good. I believe that if you keep doing videos like this, you will get even better with your English and your channel will continue to grow. :D I wish you all the best.
@@yazeed3881 Great, I have a 95 with 205,000 miles. Just had all of that done, even though water pump wasn't included in the TB kit, I replaced entire cooling system except for air conditioning which still blows super cold. Starter was replaced along with egr and knock sensors since all of those were accessible to get to Starter. Hope you have thousands of trouble free miles with yours, as I plan to drive mine until the tires fall off. This thing is by far the best vehicle I have ever owned. Cheers!
The Jaguar interests me the most, I have seen a few of the V8 ones about [can be picked up quite cheaply] being British, I will always like the S type Jaguar.
I had a S-Type Jag 4.2 just like the UK reg (2004) one in the clip (black/cream - Sport with better wheels and full spec). A fabulous car. Facelift in 2002 with 4.2 V8 and were built until 2006.
The SC Jaguar was very fast. I raced one once to 130 MPH on a road thinking I would overtake him, never happened. Turns out to have very similar times as my NSX. Eventually met a guy that said he was his boss in that car. No longer street race, 130 MPH on a surface street is too insane for me.
I ended up buying a Lexus LS430. The Gen 1 and 2 LS400 and Celsior were cheaper and more common down here but I opted to spend a few dollars more to get the more powerful, better riding, and better equipped 3rd Gen LS430
In typical Toyota over-engineered fashion, the UZ engines are pretty damn strong, although the transmissions aren't quite the same. The 5 speed auto in mine won't handle a whole lot more power over stock without killing the 3rd gear sprag clutch. It is a really good car and while it did need a reasonable amount of work, it is certainly more reliable than any of the other options you listed
If we're talking about cheapest V8 there was also e39 535i with M62B35, and e32/e34 with m60b30. In Poland you can get E34 M60B30 even for about 4000-5000PLN/~1000$ but prices are going higher and higher.
It is very awesome that you have decided to talk much more! Keep up the great content and also other types of videos such as Is 200 hp a lot was a very cool video!

The W8 is a mechanical nightmare
InsertFlashyName why?

isnt the w8 just two vr6's with two cylinders cut off of them and put together on a crankshaft?
They aren't exactly reliable....
At least it ain't a diesel

An '04-06 LS430 can be had for
ibtarnine
Agreed. I actually own a 1991 LS400
The engine I wouldn't say is gutless. It does have less power than the later models of the 1UZ... but just as strong.
I really enjoy my LS400
Gerald Scott
My LS400 will out corner a Crown Vic with ease aka independent rear suspension... which like you said... the crown has solid rear axle
also I will out pull a Crown Vic
Gerald Scott
Well considering my bushings lasted over 220k miles on my Lexus LS400 I am trying to tell you that you are generalizing all independent rear suspension systems.
S3XY LS - Sexy Low Sound 😁
Awesome to finally hear you!
Just keep speaking so you can help out your English.
I think I will post the text boxes as well, some people ask for them.
VisioRacer what other language do you speak?
yeah why not both :)
nice hearing your voice :)
The later facelift Jaguar S (2004.5-2008) came with a 4.2 V8 with 300 BHP and 0-60 of 5.7. The supercharged version had 400 BHP and a 0-60 of 4.8. The best engines of the lot.
my english is very good but your accent makes it anoying for me to watch. the text was way better imo
4000 € equal to 2000 $...? Which planet u coming from..?
What is the planet's name where there is one market on the entire globe only?
Today 1 €uro equals 1.06 US$
(including Antarctica)
Yes, I like this comment. Still a long way before me
VisioRacer(be sure to reply!) you can check out my channel for my voice I can do voiceover for you but I will need better recording instruments from you .
Read is better than listen...
悲しいlord or both
I really like you accent, also i really did enjoy the video mate. Thanks alot!
Great, cheers!
Zapto01 Because they make about 80% of the V8 market, this is for people who don't wan't American V8s.
This is the first time I hear Visio's racer voice .
Thanks for the feedback!
That audi a8 was life
I had a 1990 Lexus LS400 and it was the best car I ever owned.
nice video. don't worry about your accent that just means your bilingual and smarter then those hating on it...good job..
Great video on affordable V8's! Thanks for sharing man.
Thank you for watching
I'm so glad you mentioned the E430, I have a 2000 as my daily driver.
How do you like it?
VisioRacer I love it, since February 2016 I've put 60,000 miles on it
Nice video man!
Bought 1999 ls400 with 200K miles for $2,000 . Replaced timing kit and tires . I put 17K miles on it in less than a year . Fantastic car
Hopefully you replaced the water pump, tensioner, idler pulley and seals when you were in there. Instead of just timing belt.
@@henryhawkins1194 it was included in the timing belt kit . She is still around btw
Cheers!
@@henryhawkins1194 i got 232,600 miles on it so far .
The Jaguar interests me the most, I have seen a few of the V8 ones about [can be picked up quite cheaply] being British, I will always like the S type Jaguar.
I've got a '99 LS. An E38 740 has been on my list for a while now as a next possible car
I had a S-Type Jag 4.2 just like the UK reg (2004) one in the clip (black/cream - Sport with better wheels and full spec). A fabulous car.
Facelift in 2002 with 4.2 V8 and were built until 2006.
I love these types of videos even though I cannot afford any if them
I Got a 740iL BMW for $1200 , limo tint, red , brand new looking.
Not cheap, at least here in America, but I really want an 8th gen Toyota Crown with the 1uz.
Now I need a video of how to transfer a V8 engine to another car. My Mitsubishi would be awesome :D
Great English and video man, keep it up!
I ended up buying a Lexus LS430. The Gen 1 and 2 LS400 and Celsior were cheaper and more common down here but I opted to spend a few dollars more to get the more powerful, better riding, and better equipped 3rd Gen LS430
Nice. I like those Lexuses, good looking and just great engines.
You got the e39 BMW 540i, but don't forget the e34! Nearly the same engine and old school looks ;)
It is very awesome that you have decided to talk much more! Keep up the great content and also other types of videos such as Is 200 hp a lot was a very cool video!
Cool, thanks! I will do my best
Nice video, man! Keep it up! :)
the crown vic police interceptors are the best..cheap,easy to find, and good to modify
