When he moved to Madrid, CR7 was the goal scorer he was the Boss... Everybody was almost playing for CR7. You have a Guy that is capable to score 50, 60 in a Season, so Benzema had to change his style of play, he had to adapt to Ronaldo style of play... And you Will notice that at Madrid he doesn't play like he used to at Lyon. And since Ronaldo left Madrid you can see that he is Madrid's goal scorer. He carries real Madrid on his shoulder. He plays freely . In the left and right wings, as a center forward, he participate to the game, he comes to the mieldfield to play, to get the ball, he gives passes.

Benzema is who got me into football. I watched him at Lyon and when he went to RM I decided he was my favorite player. I finally had someone and a team to root for once you have that, it's easy to become a football fan. I'm American and the sport was not that cool to the general population back in 2009/2010. But he made it cool to me for some reason. Him winning Balon D'or is something I never expected to see but knew he had in him. His selflessness and amazing ability to be both the goal scorer and playmaker are what make me love him as an athlete and his swag off the field is what makes me like him as a guy. From his taste in cars to music I connect with him so much and his ability to not bring that type of flashiness or ego to the pitch. He's a G in every way and I'm so proud to call him my favorite player for over a decade, which few people can say about him

The trend is towards younger teams now that can play a higher intensity pressing game. Watching old matches back makes you realize how much quality is traded for this.
