Its been 2 decades since Carlos was at the peak of his powers and he is still the standard we measure modern fullbacks to. No other fullback has had the attacking ability of Carlos. And despite what people tell you Carlos in his prime was pretty good defensively too, very very hard to beat 1 vs 1 and his recovery ability was exceptional. At the later part of his career he struggled defensively because he was losing his incredible pace and exceptional stamina to get back after attacking. But at his best Carlos changed the game and is an absolute legend of the game.
Best defender and Libero ever, and still with the killer skills of any Brazilian Master to be a striker. His penalties were master classes on how not to fail them. In any Global Dream Team, Roberto Carlos must be. Not even Beckenbauer matches him out.
