Each to their own methods on fault finding but certainly not the way I approach it. Most important aspect for me and first point of call is the end user. A verbal explanation of what the boiler is or isn’t doing. Secondly if possible and safe to do so operate the boiler in each mode, heating or hot water and observe, are they any fault codes been displayed in any modes. Then safely isolate the system from the electrical supply, and remove the cover. Any signs of leaks/water damage, any burn/scorch marks on any component/seals. I would then start fault finding as to the Manufacturers flowchart. Depending on experience you should have a good idea after a visual observation of the operation of the boiler but for me the manufacturers instructions are an essential tool as well.
Darrell, you are a super star🤩 if only others would be as good as us. Most will post something on social media at 7pm and get stupid and misleading answers rather than ask the customer, if not about PHONE the factory from my F.22 app. Also remember ALWAYS test the CH first because a lot of boilers don't use the pump for HW. Take care, George 🤩👍
I have a vitodens 100w WB1C combi boiler. I noticed that the circulation pump never shuts off when in heating mode. Is that normal? It switches on/off as expected when I use it only for hot water. Starts up when I open the tap and shuts off when I close the tap. But as soon as I turn on my UFH, it just goes forever. I don't have any additional room temperature sensors or timers.
Thanks for asking, every circuit MUST have time and temperature control that's basic install requirements, we do have a few installers who cheat customers and not fit anything thus very high bills, shame really. 😓 I love UFH with a Combi extra low running costs 100% efficiency, rads are so wasteful and the worst way to heat a home, but it make's us rich. As your pipe water should be between 35C /40C a ROOM stat is compulsory in the LOUNGE. set to 20C then adjust to your comfort level. If your don't want the expense and cost of Smart, then go to RF (radio frequency) In two videos time I will cover this subject, but see some on my vids. on controls. Take care, George Staszak 👍😃
Love our customers, Trust never? I would never employ you or your company if that was your attitude. Trust works both ways, what if the customer gave you a 50% deposit and you didn't show up? Would this be ok? It has happened in the past with me and there was nothing I could do, even trading standards din't want to know as the ammount of money was so small. I now have someone who does a great job every year and doesn't ask for any money up front.
Dear Bill, thank's for your comment, in over 20 years a trainer I have met hundreds of installers who have lost thousands when customers refuse to pay, and this is getting worse. Try buying any furniture without paying, most or all the price, then they close down take your money, this is a few hundred not a few thousand. Installers are NOT trained in running a business I did that on my courses was appreciated. As you know a lot don't reply to phone calls or turn up, our industry is famous for that. I will be making a few vids. on "How to run a business and find more work" All the best. George Staszak 👍
I know more gas engineers who have been done over by customers not paying than construction workers getting paid and not doing the job.. I have 3 close friends who are gas engineers who have been done for £4000, £8000 and £35000...
Ouch! These are very nice people but not business savvy. Every week we saw installers loose thousands which is avoidable, NEVER trust customers get that 50% on EVERY job. If the balance was not paid within 7 days I would go round to ask why or I go to Small Claims Court, they soon paid up. Take Care.👍@@brendanfisher2528

My company doesn’t ask for money up front but does need written or emailed conformation before proceeding with any repair or installation.
