Great job Mike trying to share the stoke. 99.9 percent of the population will never know or understand what that feeling of flying is like. Glad i took the plunge many years ago to kite foiling and dabbling in wing foiling. Keeps everything fresh and adds at least 75% more days to your year. Cheers!!
Such a gift, we are the lucky ones. Couldn’t imagine my life without these games we play on the water. Hard to describe how it has enriched my life. Also the more I travel the more I have an appreciation for where we are at. 🤙
Been surfing on Lake Superior since the early '70s when i was the only surfer. Now on a good day it get crowded and, at best it is storm surf anyway. Wing foiling on Superior is as good as it gets anywhere and the more the merrier. Thanks for sharing the stoke.
So true, it has completely opened up the lakes. I love how much practice you can get in with kite foiling, pumping, flat water starts. They all translate so well to one another allowing you to progress between the good wave days. Simply impossible with surfing!
Yes sir. I went kite surfing with a strapless surf board, in some decent conditions. It’s been about a year since I’ve kited with a strapless surfboard. Came back like riding a bike. In fact i think it was one of my better sessions. I think foiling in excellent cross training. More time on the water. It all translates. 🤙
It's pretty surprising that people complained about you mentioning the location you were. As vast as the great lakes are and so few people that foil in general. Much less the GL. Big shame. Ill be back in spring to add to the crowd. 😅
Look forward to ripping with you! Am out of Waterloo, got into it this year, riding at Conestoga lake. Rejuvenated love for board sports. Am getting foil brain after a session feel like a am being elevated while on land. Cant wait for wave time
Hit all the points for sure. Similar things apply for surfing in the Southeast. Really easy to hit the ceiling of progression with marginal waves, but the foiling possibilities are endless.
the location gate keepers can pound sand. it might make more sense for the surfers. the more the merrier IMO, there's not that many of us on the great lakes and if anyone has any semblance of wind/weather reading skills all the spots will be discovered eventually. keep making great content 🤘and sharing the stoke. hope to see you on the water one day.
Haaa thanks. Ya i can’t see it ever getting busy surfing on the lakes anyways. The level of surfing is soo low there’s enough for everyone to go around. It’s a different mentality. Ohh well, glad to a part of it all.
Haa ya I’ve watch a few. I think he’s a little bit better at speaking than me and more philosophical. Lake Michigan my 2nd favorite Great Lake. Sorry home takes number one. Some say Huron and Michigan are one Lake. Enjoy 🤙
Love the stoke!.I think it would be great to separate the surfing culture you touched on at the beginning from foiling and not give it much weight. There is plenty to go around! Love each other and share in the excitement!
I do get both sides of the story. Was trying to share the goodness. And man this stuff is good. I think people are looking for action sports in this geographical region. Why not share? Surf culture can be interesting….
Nice video. Former ocean surfer/kiteboard trying to reach my wave quota in the Midwest. Could you give me some pointers on foil setups? Any way I connect with you through DM?

Wow pioneering up in Lake Superior. My hats off to you! That’s the one “Lake” I haven’t rode. Thanks for sharing!
Sure does open doors!
For real! I'm still on struggle street but having a blast, can't wait until I'm at the level to properly snag some waves like this1
Enjoy the journey brother. Every level is fun. Progressing is fun, sometimes I didn’t realize how fun it was until I reached that next level. 🤙

Kind of thought the same. I sided on the cautionary side. Didn’t want any bad vibes…. All good 😊

Thanks bro! I feel like southeast would be better waves then here. Anyways foil sure opens it up!!
Building my downwind boards right now, cheers from Superior
Good for you. That’s next level. Keep on toying with the idea just can’t get my shit together.
