- Magneto was once de-aged to a baby by one of his own creations, Alpha The Ultimate Mutant. While this was his own fault he blamed the X-Men. This plot would reappear in a big way in the 90s but before that there was a short revenge outing in the late 70s in X-Men 112 and 113 (Magneto Triumphant and Showdown). I was a kid during the 70's and I distinctly remember reading the Defenders issue where Magneto was turned into a baby. And then this was not addressed for *years!* Magneto - one of the major players in the Marvel Universe - had been turned into a baby! What happened to him? Nothing was ever said! I kept imagining him being put into some orphanage somewhere and some random couple adopting him.
34:00 - Sound is composed of pressure waves, essentially the jiggling of atoms. Sound is the result of vibrating molecules. Theoretically, if Magneto could vibrate the metal walls at a specific frequency it could create a harmonic resonance with Banshee's scream.
Depending on the frequency of the vibration, he could use constructive interference to amplify the scream. Presumably he would need to be able modify that magnetic field to vibrate VERY specific areas of the room in order force the spike in amplification onto Banshee's position - which would require insane intellect to be able to do that on the fly, in the middle of combat. Of course, this is Maggie's lava base, so maybe the room could be shaped or constructed in a way that is more conducive to sound manipulation.
He could also use destructive interference to cancel out Banshee's powers entirely. It's the same concept behind noise-cancelling headphones. Banshee would essentially turn into just a guy.
If Maggie could do both simultaneously, he could conceivably cancel out Banshee's attack, while amplifying it against Banshee himself. In order for Banshee to counter this, he would simply need to change the tone he was screaming, and could just try singing at Maggie to "scramble" the frequency of his attack LOL
Great livestream. Love seeing you team up with Amanda. I'd argue that we are all puppets to Magneto if he used his powers to their full extent since we have iron in our blood. He'd be like a blood bender from Avatar if he wanted.

I agree I always saw Storm as a natural avenger just as much if not more so than BEAST or ROGUE but I understand her placement just because in interstellar interactions her usage would be null unless they define her power set differently and she could still use like solar manipulation etc being forms of weather maybe the vacuum and particles of space contain a dynamic with fluctuation akin to weather patterns (cold pockets etc). I have heard “galactic storms” as a concept so it’s not out of the realm of possibility for the medium to expound upon Orroro in some way.

I was a HUGE fan of the X Men during the 80s & 90s .. which IMO was the GREATEST X Men era in Marvel Comics HISTORY.. the John Byrne & Jim Lee art ALONE makes this a FACT 👑

I read that Mystique/Destiny story when it first came out. It really helped flesh out the nature of their "friendship" and was a brilliant sendoff for a fallen hero.
Magnets aren't powered up by the cold but they are made weaker by the heat because the heat makes the atoms move around more (heat is just atoms moving more than they did before). This is one of the reasons you tend to find magnets closer to the poles. So I would say it isn't that the cold makes Magneto more powerful but that it minimizes the negative impact of the heat on his powers
9:45 i’m one of those people who was a kid during this time, collecting books like the Tomb of Dracula and the Incredible Hulk. Some of my cousins and friends were psyched on this book.

12:05 if editors of marvel comics, both then in 1978 or now in 2024, ever sat down to consider how magnetism really operates, magneto and storm would be the most powerful beings on the planet.
The entire galaxy and all of the planets operate under electro magnetism, including all solar flares. storm in space literally cause a solar flare to lead from a star. So could magneto, if we look at how their powers actually should work #Comics.

But that will get you all sorts of the wrong kinds of attention from mainstream scientist community. They are highly resistant to any serious talk of competing ideas of Physics.

Three Body problem is coming back. Netflix have announced it has been renewed, at a length that will allow them to tell all the story. But haven't said how many more seasons it will be exactly. Still, we'll get all the story.
