It seems that a good many of the actors in the 1902 Trip to the moon were born in the early 19th century, well before cinema, or for that matter, still photography was mass produced. Before Eastman Kodak mass marketed still photographs on emulsified paper, they were exposed on special large slides of chemically treated, very thin glass and were really expensive. Only wealthy families could have portraits taken.
This is such a fascinating short film by George M, (not going to try spelling his name,) but I could have sworn that Charlie Chaplin had something to do with directing it. There was something about Trip to the Moon in a documentary I saw about Charlie Chaplin, another fantastic early movie producer.
@@iconaus No, I'm not sure. I remember something about the woman sitting in the crescent moon in the center of the sleeping scene being the girlfriend or wife of the movie producer. Maybe it was George M's wife. Do you know if Charlie Chaplin or Buster Keaton helped in this production of Trip to the Moon? If I find out anything more, I'll let you know. I think it was in a DVD I rented from Netflix. It was the history of silent films, or something like that. I'll do some more research.
It was the movie "Hugo." I was thinking of. It told about the making of Trip to the Moon by George Melies in the movie. Don't know where I got Charlie Chaplin.
Verne's book, From the Earth to the Moon, was published in 1865, but the second part of the film is inspired by another novel The First Men in the Moon by H.G. Wells
Think of the quantum change Technologically, Scientifically, & socially between 1902 and 2002. Someone from 1802 would not have been unable to adapt to 1902, but someone from 1902 placed into 2002 would probably die of shock & fear.
119 años atrás, y se ve bastante bien.

In 1902, Chaplin was 13, and Keaton 7.

It was the movie "Hugo" I was thinking of. Some history of George Melies mixed in with a storyline.
esta inspirada en Julio Verne? O viceversa?
