    Best band of all time in my opinion, message is always on point, sound and lyrics are next level, and every song is a banger. Truly masters of their craft and warriors of the people

    One of my favorite songs by them, great review! I grew up learning the same whitewashed BS about MLK and the Black Panther Party. I’m so thankful I started learning more history and leftist theory while my kid was very young so he can grow up knowing the truth of US history. Rage has a lot to do with my growth both politically and as a human. Keep the Rage reactions coming!

    Three (somewhat) unrelated bits to add to the discussion:
    1. The American school system is in jeopardy. I am currently a teacher, ranging grades 4-8, and come from a long line of educators. This attempt at whitewashing our country's history is just one prong of a multi-prong attack on education. It's like there is some organized but shadowy attempt to dumb down the population. After all, an ignorant population is so much easier to control. And, for the record, I am NOT a fan of conspiracy theories. This is my own thought, cultivated over my tenure in education, but also during the 30 years my mom and her sister were teachers... and my grandfather before them...
    2. My biggest beef with the way MLK JR is taught in American classrooms is how they completely ignore his blatantly socialist messages, and only focus on his writings regarding race, specifically. To know the man, we should study ALL of his works. He really wrote some remarkable things.
    3. I am terribly disappointed in how little James Baldwin is discussed in American schools - if he's even mentioned at all! This is a travesty. Baldwin's work needs much more attention than it gets. I don't necessarily agree with him 100% of the time, but I don't need to. It's about being introduced to new thoughts and opinions, especially when produced by such a learned, eloquent and articulate person.

    • @Belly_Beane
      @Belly_Beane Год назад +2

      Agree with you. They’re defunding the education system on purpose. Need people just educated enough to be a compliant worker, but not educated enough to start asking questions.

      "It's like there is some organized but shadowy attempt to dumb down the population."
      Nothing shadowy about it, it's the fucking platform they're running on. Any critique of the system gets labeled as un-American, and patriotism runs deep.

    I'm from Europe and from the country that (unfortunately) kickstarted the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade (Portugal). To me the worst part is that despite how bias and heroic our country's History books were (dunno about nowadays) presented, there was always space to just acknowledge that slavery was not our finest moment and it did more harm than any kind of good for the slaves... unlike the US it seems! I honestly don't even think that the US as an Eurocentric view of the world!... At this point i think the US just tries to use Europe as an escape-goat for its own very practical, unregulated, greed and failures.

    Man, you need to check out the "Surface Tension - Завтра". Song of the year for me. They published this song exactly on the New Year Eve when we were attacked by ruzzian drones. But that song made all us grown up bastards cry with the tears of happiness. We couldn't go out to the streets but lots of people in apartment's houses around opened their windows and were singing songs and shouted to the black sky that we are not afraid and will never surrender. Check that out, beautiful and inspiring song.

      He might not be in this song, but he mentions prominent African American figures in many songs and the struggle they've endured in plenty of his lyrics.. That's what the entire song 'Wake Up' is about lol.. Off the top of my head I can think of Malcolm X, Martin Luther King Jr and Fred Hampton.
      And btw his father is father is a Mexican-American with some African and Sephardi Jewish heritage
