King Henry Christophe was the greatest black man ,if not the greatest human being ever existed. Born into slavery , fought in the American revolution, fought in the Haitian revolution only to become king of the kingdom of HAiti, becoming not only one of the richest man in the world, but also built some of most remarkable monument in Haiti. The palace was built to rival that of the Palace of versailles in France. In a time when european thought black people were uncivilized and should be slaves of the colonizers, King Henry Christophe showed that black people can organize, he managed to build the largest fort in the Continent of america ,building many other forts to preserve freedom for Haiti.

The last time I visited the Citadel, but didn't make it to the Sans Souci palace. I am a descendant of the Northern Kingdom of Haiti. My mother's people (Lamour) are from Grand Riviere du Nord and Trou du Nord. My mother was a teacher in Milot during her younger years. My chest is about to burst. I'm so proud of Haiti and what she represents. I pray daily that her honor will be restored. THANK YOU, African Tigress. You've made an old lady very happy today. King Henry built 8 Palaces and 6 Castles in Milo, all of them, except the citadel, are in Ruin today- After the French imposed the Independence debt Haiti simply started to disintegrate-
Though, I don't understand why, if the Haitian government cannot allocate the money to rebuild these sites, they don't lease the right to rebuild and exploit the sites to a reputable international firm.
Every year, close to 1 million tourists visit Labadee, which is only 12 miles away from Sans Souci, the Citadel, and the ruins of these palaces and castles, zero of them get to visit. 1 dedicated express way, or 1 railway system connecting the site to Labadee would bring so much revenue- if they made the right investments.

The Haitians won the battle against the mighty Napoleon army…A feat that has not been repeated no where in the world. And for this reason, Haiti was punished, isolated and abandoned by the European powers and the United States. France wanted Haiti to be an overseas territory like Martinique, Guadalupe,Guiyana , Reunion Island, but the Haitians refused to live in bondage and misery.
