I’ve read The Discomfort of Evening (in Dutch) recently; thought it was beautifully written, however it is very dark and (very appropriately) discomforting. I enjoyed it, but it left me quite unsettled and at some times I felt like the bizarre scenes were added to shock the reader, rather than to add something to the story. All in all, it did leave a great impression on me
All of your new books are ones I want to read! Desperate to hear what you think of Scabby Queen in particular, though it's not Kirstin Innes' debut, that was a book called Fishnet too which came out around 2015.
Per the seasonal quartet-- I read a theory that the characters are actually related! I haven't read spring yet so I don't know how that one relates though
I read and loved the Discomfort of Evening on BorrowBox having never heard anything about it. It's not as experimental as you seem to think. Not an easy read at times but not difficult to get through. Can't wait to hear your thoughts.
I was at a book fair a couple years back and had spent a few hours but not yet a penny so I was driven into this panic that I must buy something and ended up buying the ‘Winter’ edition from the Ali Smith quartet. Had no idea what’s it about and the blurb didn’t give away too much either but it had a nice cover so I got it (and obviously after this one panic purchase I found plenty of things of interest). Later realised that it’s part of a series so wanted to read Autumn first, but as I knew nothing about these books it wasn’t a first priority for me and I haven’t got around buying the Autumn one, although I’ve checked a couple of bookstores for it, but neither of them have had it in stock anymore. However after hearing your thoughts on Ali Smith’s books in this and in some of your other videos I’m becoming more interested in reading them! Definitely trying to get around to reading the first book during this year and then maybe I could read each during the season they’re set in!
I read the discomfort of Evening in the original language for my bookclub. It was definitely a divisive book! It's very brutally honest and at times kind of gross 😂 it tells the story of a preteen girl, that lives in rural Holland on a farm. A family member dies in an accident and slowly, everyone in the family spirals out of control mentally, all in their own way. It's not for everyone but curious to see what you think! 😁
Honestly, i just don't get the hype with such a fun age. I found it really meh. I wouldn't even say it's about allyship. Have a read, I'd be interested in what you think.
Oh I had a few of these on my radar alreasy but I have just added The Outsiders, Pew and Scabby Queen to my wishlist.
Definitely want to read Such a Fun Age. It sounds wonderful! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it.

I do want to read Punching in the Air. It seems quite interesting
So many great books. I really want to read Punching The Air, Summer (But I have to read the other three first ;)), and Burnt Sugar.
I've read punching air and such a fun age
That desk/shelf in the background is so stunning!
Ohh I also picked up the discomfort of evening too!
I just bought Punching the air.
Yay! I adore book hauls! I’m in the minority and loved the second book in the book of dust!!
Whatever highlighter you're wearing is gorgeous! I must know what it is!

Such a Fun Age is overhyped in my opinion. Don't set your expectations too high.

The only one of these books I’ve read so far is “All Boys Aren’t Blue”. I really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend it.
