Things like Peloton, Vizio, Alexa, etc. It's pretty mainstream stuff that people love. Are you only thinking of specific types of devices?
That's what I was thinking, and that has more to do with the manufacturer of the overall device more than the processor. This is one of the smoothest Chromebook's I've ever used, so I wouldn't discount what they're doing. I wish their flagship processors were here in the US. They were doing better than some of the other options we have over here in many areas this year.
I'm looking forward to owning my first Acer, MediaTek (knowingly) , 2-in-1, and ARM-based Chromebook. It's my second Chromebook, but I really enjoy the simplicity and battery life when I just want to do some browsing and light work, even as someone who has never used it as a student. It's also the closest thing to having an Android ecosystem with my Pixel. Shame about the Pixelbooks....
I've been using the Acer Chromebook Spin 513 with Mediatek Kompanio 1380 processor for a few months now and I'm still really happy with it. It's fast, has a long battery life, and is well-built. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a new Chromebook.
Literally just unearthed my Pixelbook 10mins ago. No contest... It's my absolute favorite computer ever. It's not the best at anything, but I absolutely loved it. Sad to see it not become the go-to premium Chromebook of the future.
This is what i keep hearing is the closest to my Asus CR302 12.5" that expires in June (and has loose charging ports). It would be nice to see it go on sale.
Just got this device this week. It's hard to find in stock right now. Prob supply chain issues. This is my 2nd chromebook, and this one is way better. This MediaTek processor is fast, and I like that the CPU is now fanless. My last Chromebook was a older Intel i3 and I hated when the fan would spin up all the time. Quite noisey.
Yeah, it's so great how cool and silent it is! I think people are really sleeping on MediaTek. I genuinely wish their flagship processors were in more smartphones in the US.
I just discovered your channel thanks to this excellent review! I have a question regarding the 'thin' sound of the speakers. I've landed on this laptop as my best option, but I listen to a lot of audiobooks and podcasts using my laptop and I would prefer to do it without headphones/earbuds. Is the sound quality good enough for those uses?
It certainty gets the job done but I don’t particularly find it to be the nicest sounding speakers out there. I’m also an audio engineer so I have really high standards, so adjust your expectations and my thoughts according to how much you care about good sound.
Yeah! I don't often get to use a form factor like this, but it felt so natural to do this when playing games. Takes a lot of the fatigue out of the picture and feels so right.
Because it gets itchy, lol. Yeah, this should run things a lot better than even that top tier Intel Pixelbook. I can definitely feel how much smoother this is.
@@ThisIsTechToday Thanks for the review, i actually just bought mine from best buy for $600. It arrives september 28th and im so excited! Again, thank you for bringing this to my attention
Can you please review the soundcore q45 vs the xm5 and other top performers? It seems to be a real powerhouse of price to performance in a lot of regards.
I don’t have the Q45s, but maybe if they’d end them to me. Probably won’t happen this year as there are other videos that have a higher demand like galaxy buds2 pro and AirPods Pro 2
I tried ChromeOS flex and I didn't like it. I prefer to use a rather slow Windows computer than to be tied to extensions and the internet in order to use the computer
I've shared a number of times that I'm waiting for the AirPods pro 2 to come in before I start. That's the end of the month. Videos take a couple weeks to make.

Lol, I know this is completely irrational of me, but I've had too many poor experiences with MediaTek devices so this will be a hard no for me.

@@ThisIsTechToday Haha, hence my self-labeling of 'completely irrational'. 😂 I suppose most of my bad experiences were on low end devices.

Glad somebody's covering these devices. Great video
Thank you so much! Neat channel name!
@@ThisIsTechToday thank you!
Mediatek has been doing a pretty cool job with their Kompanio launches - perfect performance in multiple areas.
They really are insanely competitive and I’m excited to see how they continue to grow over the next few years!
Thank YOU for reviewing this Chromebook! I've been looking for good reviews on the chip
You’re most welcome!

I know, it really is a bummer. I was eagerly looking forward to their next update. Thankfully, we do have options to choose from other manufacturers!
This Chromebook powered by Mediatek Kompanio chipset is really amazing with its blazing fast processing and also has incredible design.

A great option for those who prioritize portability and battery life. And the performance of the chromebook is just WOW with the mediatek SoC.
Acer makes finding a specific chromebook so difficult... Can't seem to find any retailer that sells this thing
Mediatek in the Lenovo Chromebook Duet offers unbeatable speed and performance at this price. Great choice for students and professionals alike!

I actually never used that hybrid standing mode for convertibles before. I'm gonna try it out, getting the keyboard out of the way looks useful.
