That plank will rot in the soil. If you screw some plastic garden stakes onto it at the bottom you can get a little more height out of your plank and extend the life of it as well. I do this with fence boards and other wooden things. I’ve had plants snap because the support was rotting under the soil and would just eventually topple over.
