    I'm not a swimming specialist, but for me, when you take part in 4 individual races and win 4 gold medals, that's more than perfect.

    To win a 200 Butterfly and a 200 Breaststroke at the Olympics the same night, in less than 2 hours, will never ever happen again.
    The only one who could have done sommething similar is Usain Bolt, that could have won a 100 and a 200m on the same night imo.

    Leon Marchand, not the nicest looking guy in the world, but he is now yet other 'super human' swimmer like Michael Phelps, accept this time this superman is not an American but a French man, but they have one thing in common, they have the same coach. I doubt do they know anything we don't know?

    In my opinion if he had swam the 100m Breast he would have won it but that’s just my opinion

    • @PropulsionSwimming
      @PropulsionSwimming  5 месяцев назад +1

      The final would have clashed with the 400m IM but its a discussion worth having.
      He could have won the 400m IM at a canter so recovery might have been possible with the 1hr 15mins between finals. The 100m Breaststroke was just weird all round and his splits in the 4x100m Medley on paper looked competitive.

    • @harryswims28
      @harryswims28 5 месяцев назад

      @@PropulsionSwimming I agree he could sacrifice a bit on the 400 IM to save energy for the 100 breaststroke

    • @panner11
      @panner11 5 месяцев назад

      Not impossible, but he wasn't top 2 in the field for the breaststroke portions that he swam in the relays. I think it's unlikely, but he has a shot ig.

    • @harryswims28
      @harryswims28 5 месяцев назад

      @@panner11 of his 200m breaststroke split at the 100 he went 1:00.6 If he didn’t have the second 100 to swim after that then he’d of given it more and the shape he was in I think it would be very likely

    • @panner11
      @panner11 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@harryswims28 using his actual splits in 100m relay finals in Paris is much more convincing than using a strong but incomparable time in the first 100m of a 200 breast.
      Take Summer McIntosh for example, she went a 58.5 in the 100 fly leg of her 400 IM. 300m of swimming after it, and her best 100m fly is 57.19.
      Unless Marchand can get into free water in the 100m breast, which seems unlikely when he's racing 100m specialists, he's going to be in the thick of waves with the same breaststrokers that outsplit him in the relay.

  • @Pointillax
    @Pointillax 6 месяцев назад

    I don't see Marchand compeating in 100m ou 50m, at least not at this stage of his swimming. He's winning his longer races regardless of the swimming style because for a third of the race he is just an magnificent submarine, gliding underwater. What gives him the edge over ultra specialists is his time underwater, and with only one or two pool length he can't use that advantage. Now on 400m that's 8 times he'll be under water for the full 15m digging his advance.

  • @Ethan-vc2rn
    @Ethan-vc2rn 6 месяцев назад

    this olympic was honestly pretty disappointing, none of swims were as competitive as it was on paper and once you gain a lead the waves on the pool will ensure you stay in the lead. There say it day 5 was the best day ever.

    Marchand had an amazing Olympics, but does it compare to Phelps in Beijing--no, it's far short of that. The crowd helped him I'm sure. He probably regrets not entering more events. Summer has 3 gold and a silver so wasn't far behind. I know you're only counting individual swims but Summer will likely pick up a relay medal tomorrow.
