      Wow! Thank you for your comment. That's the sort of comment I like to get sent. I certainly enjoyed my time in Juneau which lasted for around a week. One of these days I will finish editing my Tracy Arm day trip. Problem for that is knowing what to take out to shorten video length.

    Very nice video, well done. I have lived in Juneau for the past 26 years and I still love it. I retired from the Alaska state ferries and ran mostly from Skagway in the north to Bellingham, Wa. and all points in between. That never got old. It changes all the time and you see new sights or old sights differently, so if you've been here before, you still have a lot to see, take it from me.

    Are there any homeless people in Juneau? I live in Fairbanks and it’s ridiculous, I want to feel safe walking at night

    • @GORDONLAWRENCEVIDEOS
      @GORDONLAWRENCEVIDEOS  3 года назад +1

      Sorry but I cannot answer that. It's a few years since I was there and although I was not aware of any homelessness then, times change. I didn't feel unsafe at night though.

    • @chellh43
      @chellh43 3 года назад

      Yeah, a bunch of drunks roaming around downtown. Currently the high and mighty city council are trying to run them from downtown to make the place pretty for tourists. They want the premium property the Glory Hole is located in, but we are like screw you lol
      Juneau used to be safe walking around at night, too many lowlife moving in from lower 48.

      @@chellh43 Hi there. Interesting comment from you and you have obviously not enjoyed your time in Juneau. It is several years now since I made this video and things may well have changed. I spent a week there and stayed in an old hotel right in the centre of town. Except for a bus ride to the glacier and cable up the mountain, I walked everywhere else. Of course I didn't see everywhere but cetainly did get around. I never had any worries day or night Certainly no memory of the sort of things you describe. I found Juneau to be interesting in summer even if full of tourists from the numerious cruise noats arriving each day. I came and went on the government ferry service so did have to get quite a few miles out to the working harbour area. Hope things work out for you.

      ERICKS Thank you for your comment. I am sure you will enjoy your visit to Juneau. You may consider traveling on to Skagway for a short visit. That is another step back into the past. I would love to be visiting both places again but my next travels are taking me to the Shetland Islands, Scandinavia and parts of Central Asia. For Skagway see:

    I love how everyone just films downtown and out the road, never the ugly truth of the Valley XD Run down trailer parks, trash on all the streets and in the woods, nasty dump problem (the Eagles love calling that smelly place home), high rate of crime and suicide, outrageous cost of housing, the homeless population being shoved aside because they want downtown to look pretty for the tourists, drugs and alcohol are easy access to teens, absolutely disgusting weather. Most of the shops downtown and tourist companies are run by lowlifes that live in the lower 48, and like a parasite, reap Juneau's economy. Hardly anyone who visits here actually gets to see the real Juneau, just blinded by tourist traps. I'm sick of being stuck here and I don't have the funds to get out. It's hard to find anyone who was born here anymore. Long time, multi-generation families are moving away from Juneau as outsiders (including a bunch of criminals from other states looking to escape) come in droves to wreck this once beautiful area of Alaska. I used to be able to walk alone in the middle of the night without fear of anything happening and that's gone. I hate it. Watching a drug deal go down at the children's park across the street from my home while there are children playing. At another park, someone stabbed over an ipod. You like to turn your head away from all of that dont you? My great great grandfather was the one of the co-founders of Juneau and my family has been here for countless generations before the city was founded. It's sad to see how much this place has gone to sh*t.
    Don't come here, just let Juneau die in peace.
