These are neat! Wouldn't see the foam after a couple weeks of sunshine for many plants. And the fabric option could protect roots from fish that might eat them.
Make sure if you have fish too make sure chemical on these things are not toxic too fish . Landscape fabric has chemicals in it. Also wash off anything you put in your pond with the fish. Make sure the plants you use aren’t toxic too fish . Fish do eat the roots so you don’t want them eating poison
Nice! I bought mesh planters with a wide lip from an aquaponics store for around $3. I glued two ring layers of foam tiles under the lip, filled them with aquaponic media and bare root mint. They do great.
Wish I could have seen this a couple months ago. I have five pond baskets. Creeping jenny, cardinal plant, ginger mint, chocolate mint, blood dock, and pitcher plants are the plants I used. Great idea. Liked
Thank you for the amazing idea, I was thinking about using pond safe foam on the edges of a plastic pot with some gravel, but one of my kid may be loosing one of her pool noodles today lol.
Wonderful tips!!! Makes me wish I had an outdoor pond! I will save this for someday later. Who knows, I could have a place where I could put an out pond?
Hello, just came from Dollar Tree with a great back ground for my tanks. It’s in the Halloween section and it’s a sheet that is supposed to look like a stone wall. The pic on package makes it look as if it is brown when actually shades of grey. Still, when attached to tank back it is quite attractive. Wish I could post a pic here.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! This is exactly what I have been searching all morning for! I'm having a problem with my koi eating off the roots of my water hyacinths loose roots are clogging up my pumps so I've been trying to find a solution to keep the plants and the koi separated. You have just given me New Hope! Thanks so much!
Great tips...Thank you!...but I want to plants eadibles. Please can you tel me what type of edibles can I plant in my pond? Basil? Cilantro? Let me know...Thanks again!
my granddaughter hatched 10 ducklings=4/5 weeks old=we just let them in the pond and they demolished all of my water hyacinth=20 or more of them. So I am wondering if this would work. Thanks for the ideas.
Love your channel! I went looking online for that large pool float from Dollar Tree and it's nowhere to be found. They only seemed to have pool noodles. I even went to various other sites like Walmart, Dollar General, Family Dollar.... zip, zilch, nothin'. :( Very disappointed as that large one would be perfect for me. Lots of noodle soup, Ramen noodles, pasta etc., but no pool noodle floats. :(
Would water lilies do well in a floating basket made with a large pool noodle and the weed block fabric? I tried planting them with loam soil and it was a disaster. Dirted the pond water in just a few hours. I was devastated. I love your videos and the saving money is the best!!! Thanks so much!!
Awesome! Perfect timing! My pond was just dug. 13 x 18. I use the dirt to partially surround to pond which I can fun scaping. You would love it! Waterfall? Just plants? Hmmm. My mind is racing!
You are the BEST and your frugal tips are amazing. I look at the Dollar Tree in a whole new light due to all of your posts. I have seriously implemented almost every one of them 😊
Woot, thank you for this tip. It will come in handy for me this week. I went to Aquashella this weekend and came home with quite a few really nice plants from the Nocturnal Aquarist booth because I remembered this video. Anthuriums and english ivy. I'm not a big fan of plants in my filter. Also got their Green Man mini garden but that's not for my tank lol.
Thanks for the great ideas !...I stopped putting chemicals in my swimming pool and now want to add plants and gold fish and mosquitoe eating fish..oh and a fountain in order to create a peaceful place for meditation
Great ideas!!!! You are a wealth of information in getting good items for less. We will have to nickname you: The Queen of Savings. Great video as always.
A older blind guy wanders into a ladies blond bar and asks the blond bartender if she wants to hear a dumb blond joke? The bartender explained that he was in a blond bar with thirty blonds all around him and asked if he wanted to continue? His answer not if I have to repeat it thirty times!
I love these! I had a hard time arranging my pond plants last year as the cats liked to climb on them to get to the papyrus to snack on. I actually had no idea pond plants could float, and this will keep the cats off them. I’m also going to be tucking a potato vine I have growing out of my aquarium into a noodle slice. Right now it’s tied to the heater cord and looks pretty ugly.
Nice ideas ! The Dollar Store ought to hire you. Even at a dollar per idea, your backyard beverage budget would be set by now. 😀 Yours in buoyancy, Jim
Looking good! You can also attach the pool noodles to medium-large colanders and use those as hanging baskets

Great video like always 👌 👍 especially saving money lol, I saved a Painted Turtle yesterday on a busy highway uploaded the video today 😀

how do you keep plants from being water logged? have you had an issue with this?
Is there a risk of chemical leaching into the water from the styrofoam?

My pond has most indirect sunlight during the day, what’s the best plants for it?
Awesome! Perfect timing! My pond was just dug. 13 x 18. I use the dirt to partially surround to pond which I can fun scaping. You would love it! Waterfall? Just plants? Hmmm. My mind is racing!

$1 tree for millions of dollar property
My baby tut hates me 😔 It looks like it's going to die. What am I doing wrong? Are the roots not supposed to be submerged?
The one with the soil how do you keep the soil from falling in the water?
Very clever! The pond is looking so good 🐠🐟💚
Hi Joanna. You always come up with ways of saving money on aquascaping and the fish keeping hobby. Awesome job! Sincerely, Marty Borst
Thanks - I do my best! ☺️
wont that soil and fertiliser leak through into the water and kill the fish?
Thank you! I also have a 55gallon pond and can't stomach the cost of those plant baskets
Nifty idea! Do the fish stay in the pond all year or just in the summer?
You are the BEST and your frugal tips are amazing. I look at the Dollar Tree in a whole new light due to all of your posts. I have seriously implemented almost every one of them 😊
Electric knife will cut noodles easily too
I wonder how well anubias would handle Texas heat?
