I do a child care job , off the books and got paid cash every week.Filed tax.Now I got a letter from DOL that I am not qualified bec I did not work and earn wages in at least two calendar quarters of my base periods.I did not paid at least $2600 in wages in one of the calendar quarter of my base period.And they want me to send pay stubs too

Biggest mistake California made was telling 1099ers to wait until the 28th to fill out the UI form making it seem there was a specific form we'd have access to immediately on the 28th. So now I'm 2 weeks behind because they have to process the regular UI form first just to say I'm ineligible and to now fill out the PUA. Not to mention the site crashes every minute, making a form that would take literally 5 minutes to fill out now over an hour to complete. Gotta love government.
I just spoke to a rep. I asked if I should apply for PUA as well as regular UI. She said no. Why wouldn't she have me apply this new way where they automatically check PUA if you don't qualify for regular UI? Such bullshit.
For freelance workers - Do you know if when our 26 weeks of unemployment expires we are automatically enrolled in the 20 week extension? Or we have to apply for the add'l 20 weeks? NYS Labor website says we're eligible for 46 weeks but doesn't mention if we reapply.Thanks

Same here...back on may 9 I got hold of a rep on the phone who said I'm considered self-employed... I think the new form automatically determine if you’re UI or PUA. But both have the same benefits. Go ahead and apply now and also do your 2019 taxes ASAP. Then upload your schedule C via messenger with the correct subject (it’s a pull down menu). Yes you can backdate to Mar 15. It’ll take a while to process, but eventually get paid.

Hi how are you ?I have a question. Here it goes last week on April 12 I apply for underployment. I got a message from them on the underplyment site stating I needed to start my claiming on the 22 which is today . Here my question when I was done it say the week for 13-19 is being in processed. now underneath that it says it indicated I had a break due to emplyment that needed due to lack of work . I just recieve my benifit card today which is good news . But what does that mean I indicated had a break due to lack of work. My furlong started on April 11 so that why I applied on the 12? I applied on 3.27.2020 but I first applied for ui, got denied and finally got approved for pua. Pua payments are being all processed this week and next week. Be patient.
Can I apply for PUA in Maryland even though I still waiting for the conventional benefits to be approved? They dined my benefits since March because " I was not able in available for work" I have according to them. I was under doctors' restriction before I applied for my benefit and clear to go back to work. Thanks Andrew! Did you file the original 10-page application AND the streamlined 5-page application? I filed ONLY the original (on April 1) and never received a link to the ver. 3 PUA form. I DID receive phone calls to confirm my info. I have a feeling the agency will follow-up with PUA app via USPS for 10-page filers, and the link is only for 5-page filers.. Anyway, thinking to just submit the ver. 4 app today and not wait for the follow-up.
go head I doubt the specialist would ever follow up. Unfortunately, it happened to me... Applied on April 10 and finally got to talk with a specialist on April 19. was told the application is complete and should be anticipating a letter. Today I calling for my weekly claim and was told that I have to complete my application.... so they have never followed up my claim!!! So frustrating! Now i have to go back calling that number again which has never gone thru...btw, I did just submit and ver.4 earlier today

I answered no because my business had to close due to Covid19. That automatically made me ineligible. I am self-employed. Do you know of a way to fix this? Thank you.
A similar mistake happened to me, you’ll never get thorough on the phone email them and tell them to send u a new PUA application it may take a few days but they sent me a 2nd one..after about 2 weeks! Good luck!
Do you think a 1099 part time worker that used to work 8 hours a week which got reduced to 1-2 hours a week can recieve some PUA benefits and the $600 extra per week?
Was anyone else told they would get a call telling them how much they'd get based on their 1099 income? If my 1099 income was too low to receive add'l benefits & I can only get the $600 week do I still claim weekly?
Bob, even though your 2019 schedule C or 1099 net income balance is 0 or even negative, you still eligible to file PUA. The city govt will give you a minimum UI which is $182 per week + the additional $600 per week from Federal. The $600 only lasts for 17 weeks from the week of April 6th to the end of July 2020.

yes, it took a while to process, but i never bothered trying to call in, reach a local representative, etc. Just waited patiently and it started to work itself out.

Hey, so i got the call back today, answered the questions no problem from the representative. she sent the claim along and told me to claim every Sunday that is fine and good, but the thing was she needed me to speak to someone from payments. I stood on the call after she said she will transfer me but the call ended. I checked the site and still nothing has been adjusted. I will continue to file every sunday, but i am getting scared that i need to talk to this payments person even tho i entered my info for direct deposit. she also said that it will take 2-3 weeks. i am so confused with this process. I feel like ive been going around in circles.
At end of my call back I was told someone would call me to tell me amount of benefits I would receive based on my 1099 income. It would be in addition to the $600 week. I'm waiting but it's only been a few days. She said it could be a 2 week wait. So, maybe you just have to wait longer for another call with that info.
What if I work full time at one job but I do real estate as a supplemental income BUT now I can’t do real estate due to covid but still work full time at my other job remote ? Can I apply for PUA? Do the steps differ?
I think it's 1 application now, and they determine whether you are UI or PUA (same benefits either way). You might not get approved though if you make more than the minimum through your full time job. Not too sure. You can always apply and the worst is you get denied.
I think you need to log into your account, click Unemployment Services, then click Update Your Personal Info where you can add your direct deposit info with your routing number. Not sure, but I don't think they mail checks.
My grandson applied for PUA since February, 2020 but has no response, is there a way to find out what is going wrong or to be able to speak with a live person.
try calling in (be ready call a million times before getting through), or send a message through the login portal. otherwise, perhaps try applying again.

Did you have the question at the end that you respond with “I have documents to upload”? If you said no, then the upload button doesn’t show. I wonder if the form has changed yet again?

No, I actually worked 1 day for NY Bd of Elections for Nov 5th Election to make extra money. Assumed city would send 1099 but they sent a W2. Not sure if that 1 W2 for $300 messes up my self employment claim.Thanks@@andrewhkim

Have you checked your NY State ID mail box for a PUA application? Or does your Online forms Box say anything about a Form Pending or Form Completed? I had a call back & received a PUA application soon afterwards in my NY Inbox.

I did the pua I used my lyft earning to apply for nys, but my application just got approved and I applied 4/12/20 and it just went through, my payment was supposed to be released 5/15/20 but the amount says 0$ and says 4 days. I kept claiming my weekly benefits through regular unemployment though because I didn’t have an option to claim my week through PUA. I received a key bank card from the DOL, I don’t know what to do with it. It says I should call to activate, but I don’t know if there’s money on it because my payment history still says $0 and I recently received a letter in the mail saying I was ineligible for unemployment insurance because I didn’t make enough money in a base period and today I tried to log into my payment history and it’s not there. I already applied for PUA on April 16th and I haven’t heard anything back, so now I’m just confused with everything. not for this week. every day you work is a reduction in 25% of your state benefits. so working 1 day = 75% of your benefits. working 4 days = 0%. you need to receive at least some state benefit to receive the $600 federal. but the federal is ending soon anyway unless they extend it.

If you put yes return to work you lose your unemployment funds!

I got a message from them on the underplyment site stating I needed to start my claiming on the 22 which is today . Here my question when I was done it say the week for 13-19 is being in processed. now underneath that it says it indicated I had a break due to emplyment that needed due to lack of work . I just recieve my benifit card today which is good news . But what does that mean I indicated had a break due to lack of work. My furlong started on April 11 so that why I applied on the 12? I applied on 3.27.2020 but I first applied for ui, got denied and finally got approved for pua. Pua payments are being all processed this week and next week.

They dined my benefits since March because " I was not able in available for work" I have according to them. You will get all your back pay this week and next week. Check your dol payment statement. You should see something coming in tomorrow.

Did you file the original 10-page application AND the streamlined 5-page application? I filed ONLY the original (on April 1) and never received a link to the ver. 3 PUA form. I DID receive phone calls to confirm my info. I have a feeling the agency will follow-up with PUA app via USPS for 10-page filers, and the link is only for 5-page filers..
Anyway, thinking to just submit the ver. 4 app today and not wait for the follow-up.

Applied on April 10 and finally got to talk with a specialist on April 19. was told the application is complete and should be anticipating a letter. Today I calling for my weekly claim and was told that I have to complete my application.... so they have never followed up my claim!!! So frustrating! Now i have to go back calling that number again which has never gone thru...btw, I did just submit and ver.4 earlier today

Try to call in again. Probably your best bet.
A similar mistake happened to me, you’ll never get thorough on the phone email them and tell them to send u a new PUA application it may take a few days but they sent me a 2nd one..after about 2 weeks! Good luck!
Do you think a 1099 part time worker that used to work 8 hours a week which got reduced to 1-2 hours a week can recieve some PUA benefits and the $600 extra per week?
Was anyone else told they would get a call telling them how much they'd get based on their 1099 income? If my 1099 income was too low to receive add'l benefits & I can only get the $600 week do I still claim weekly?
Bob, even though your 2019 schedule C or 1099 net income balance is 0 or even negative, you still eligible to file PUA. The city govt will give you a minimum UI which is $182 per week + the additional $600 per week from Federal. The $600 only lasts for 17 weeks from the week of April 6th to the end of July 2020.
Remember to keep certify/claim your weekly benefit on every Sunday
I am receiving unemployment benefits in NY and returned to work part time 3 days when they ask me in my weekly claim that if I returned to work I put yes but at the end of the day it says I have returned to work full time so I put no and says I have not returned to work full time. my question is what to do if or not

Hey, so i got the call back today, answered the questions no problem from the representative. she sent the claim along and told me to claim every Sunday that is fine and good, but the thing was she needed me to speak to someone from payments. I stood on the call after she said she will transfer me but the call ended. I checked the site and still nothing has been adjusted. I will continue to file every sunday, but i am getting scared that i need to talk to this payments person even tho i entered my info for direct deposit. she also said that it will take 2-3 weeks. i am so confused with this process. I feel like ive been going around in circles.
At end of my call back I was told someone would call me to tell me amount of benefits I would receive based on my 1099 income. It would be in addition to the $600 week. I'm waiting but it's only been a few days. She said it could be a 2 week wait. So, maybe you just have to wait longer for another call with that info.

I think it's 1 application now, and they determine whether you are UI or PUA (same benefits either way). You might not get approved though if you make more than the minimum through your full time job. Not too sure. You can always apply and the worst is you get denied.
What if u didn’t put a routing number ... how long will it take to send your check I’m the mail ?
I think you need to log into your account, click Unemployment Services, then click Update Your Personal Info where you can add your direct deposit info with your routing number. Not sure, but I don't think they mail checks.

No, I actually worked 1 day for NY Bd of Elections for Nov 5th Election to make extra money. Assumed city would send 1099 but they sent a W2. Not sure if that 1 W2 for $300 messes up my self employment claim.Thanks@@andrewhkim
You should be fine. Just apply as self employed. It’s not like you’re a regular, reoccurring employee at the elections gig.

Have you checked your NY State ID mail box for a PUA application? Or does your Online forms Box say anything about a Form Pending or Form Completed? I had a call back & received a PUA application soon afterwards in my NY Inbox.

I did the pua I used my lyft earning to apply for nys, but my application just got approved and I applied 4/12/20 and it just went through, my payment was supposed to be released 5/15/20 but the amount says 0$ and says 4 days. Hi Andrew I was if your application is still pending. I applied for regular unemployment first and then PUA like you through the link they emailed me. I kept claiming my weekly benefits through regular unemployment though because I didn’t have an option to claim my week through PUA. I’m asking because your situation was similar to mine and would appreciate an answer. I wonder if should try and reapply for PUA again. A feedback would be much appreciated. Tks.

I received a key bank card from the DOL, I don’t know what to do with it. It says I should call to activate, but I don’t know if there’s money on it because my payment history still says $0 and I recently received a letter in the mail saying I was ineligible for unemployment insurance because I didn’t make enough money in a base period and today I tried to log into my payment history and it’s not there. I already applied for PUA on April 16th and I haven’t heard anything back, so now I’m just confused with everything. I sent them an email about it, so I’ll wait to see what they say, but I want to know what I should with the key bank card?

I applied for the PUA and said I was able to telework thinking that’s what I needed to put to show I am willing to work, at the end it denied me because of the telework question. Although I am not able to telework with my job, am I able to fill out another form??

Hi I have a question . I just started my job back. I live in ny . I work 31 hours but made less then 504 . I work 4 days. Will i be able to claim my unemplyment ?
not for this week. every day you work is a reduction in 25% of your state benefits. so working 1 day = 75% of your benefits. working 4 days = 0%. you need to receive at least some state benefit to receive the $600 federal. but the federal is ending soon anyway unless they extend it.
