NATO is not a defensive alliance. They illegally bombed Yugoslavia (direct violation of the UN Charter). We must never forget what they did to Afghanistan, Libya, Iraq, Syria etc.
NATO needs to understand that playing Russian roulette with a nuclear superpower is never a good idea.

With respect, it’s far more horrifying than just being disappointed by a poor junk food bt’rand.
It’s a U.S. neocon proxy regime neo imperialist proxy war: 750,000 deaths of young men, over 2 million injured and handicapped, a population of 38 million reduced to 16 million active SIM active cards today, the rest fled as refugees.
In the meantime, US mega funds and US monopolistic « globalist » corporations have bought half of the rich land of the largest region in Europe at « distressed asset » prices on the basis of a fictitious war debt created by the U.S. neocon Empire of Lies through two decades of regime change operations, arming and training and leading a massive military force with the aim of ethnically cleansing the Russian populations in the Donbas and Crimea - all with the assistance of the pre installed highly corrupt Banderist regime in Kiev - controlled by the U.S. neocon regime in an atteattempt to attack, weaken, polarize and demonize Russia, Europe’s indispensable friend and key supplier of energy, nature resources and access to the vast Eurasian Union countries.
It is a genocidal war of attrition as serious and cataclysmic as WWI.
Nothing to do with with buying a poor quality snack.
      The metaphor is:
the unutterably tragic collapse of a delusional, amoral and genocidal « Empire of Lies ».
NATO is an anachronistic treacherous and rampaging toothless paper tiger that is turning on its so-called friends and allies , and seeking to extend its violent destruction, pillaging and occupation tactics to the peaceful Asia Pacific region.
The Americans have no place and no territory to defend in Europe where they cause nothing but permanent war, corruption and conflict - for profit.

Yes and as someone who carried the bags of Ukrainian grannies and was traveling all over SE Asia with all my new Russian friends I think I should tell you something:
It's not the brag when you describe a much smaller country invading Russia and announcing how Russia has a much bigger military force. As if that isn't a kind of damning confession of weakness.
--- but to your opening nonsense. Indeed, thousands of Ukrainians arrived in our airports as refugees and we all agreed Russia was in for trouble because every single one were kids, ladies, grandparents, the odd time a middle-aged man who was not in such good shape. We didn't even see a man over 50 who was physically fit. Never one under 18 at the oldest and teen boys were usually only seen because they were the elder brother of younger siblings (hence tasked with the dad-role).
      - I have pictures and videos of streets in Vietnam and elsewhere where you'll be blnded by the white shoulders of 1000s of young Russians. Their shoulders are pasty white because they had just arrived in SE Asian and were wearing tank tops and summer clothing for the first time.
1000s of Russians between the ages of 18-32 age ranges. Many asking me about how visas work and so they're still traveling 3 months Vietnam then 2 months tourist visa Thailand and 1 month Laos... you ge tthe idea right? They are rotating via tourist visas around and around East Asia so they don't have to go back home.
The numbers are nearly uncountable because at any given moment you can count hundreds up and down The Russian Market of Phnom Pehn but when you land in Bangkok there is a hundred in the queues and so on.
Hey, I do't blame them whatsoever and they hang out with plenty of Ukrainian youth who don't want to go back either. Why would they want to go back and die, I'm all for their saving their own lives,
      but,
You are just absolutely wrong in your childish fanboi narrative crap and you need to know you can't just 'create reality' or bend it or manipulate real life by storytelling. and not that crappy either.

Or they claim the lack of freedom of speech in any state with strict limits on free-expression, whose leader won’t bow to the west, is a danger to the world and violently oppressive to their own people. Of course they have no principles or values except enriching themselves and their ilk, gaining more power and influence, and then finally-they begin to enjoy destruction, threats, domination, the adventurism of bullying weather nation-states, and getting drunk on the feeling of righteous domination (which totally absurd cultish political religion). As a U.S. citizen who has opposed the U.S. war of aggression in Ukraine from its outset in 2014, I must say that I am appalled at the lack of both competence and decency in U.S. leadership. That opinion has been reinforced exponentially by the fact that my Country is enabling the genocide of the Palestinians. I am totally disgusted by this lack of common decency and have nothing but contempt for U.S. leadership. In fact, I am now ashamed to be a U.S. citizen.

The behaviour of the West makes sense when you view it from the perspective of money. From the bankers’ perspective - territory does matter. They think they own the resources in East Ukraine. I guess that’s how they hedged the Ukrainian bonds they bought.
But it’s looking like a cost sunk fallacy.
Let’s hope the bankers don’t want nuclear contaminated land - but don’t bank on it.
I wonder when the flow of mercenaries from around the world will dry up. They don’t seemed to be getting paid anymore.

If any of this was remotely about Ukrainian interests, there wouldn't have been a coup in 2014. All else since flows from that. If the clown was in any way concerned about Ukrainian interests, he would have immediately (upon his election) followed through on his promises to work on peace with Russia, and the path to that was already laid out in the Minsk Agreements...all he had to do would have been to honestly apply what France and Germany had agreed to be the guarantor of, and what the UN Security Council had unanimously vote into International Law. Had he done that, the Ukraine would be whole, 1/2 million+ men would still be alive and most of the Ukrainians who have now fled, wouldn't have. Instead, he presides over a shattered country/society which will likely (when this is finally over) not resemble anything close to what we formerly knew as "the Ukraine".

Mearsheimer is correct, logistics have killed more armies than any general in history. The Russian's logistical chain is largely right next door (obviously scattered around the country, but t heir rail system is designed to move things around Russia). Meanwhile, the Ukrainian's logistical chain has to cross the Atlantic and is at the whim of people other than themselves. This was bound to be a disaster for Ukraine if it did not end quickly, it is unsustainable.
Every talking head general on TV and in the paper know this, and they are actively lying to the public so as not to be labelled a 'Putin puppet' and maybe be ignored for positions on TV or think-tanks in Washington.

From a tactical view, the kursk advance is a classical example of trying to enlarge a salient. As you enlarge, the circumference of the frontline gets much larger mathematically than the depth of advance. So the attacking force numerical advantage over defence decreases rapidly from an initial 3:1. Unless the attacker has enormous reserves, the attack will falter. This happened at the Ypres salient in 1917. Salients are difficult things to manage....you cannot retire from for propaganda reasons and you need huge reserves to advance from them.
Today, with precise drones the problems are even more intractable.

If we look at it realistically, the Ukrainian army did not occupy anything in terms of territory in Kursk in a real military and safe way. The way to occupy the territory was, "add gas, drive straight and see how far you get". They came there to unfortunately be like "pigeons of clay". It is true that they will do harm to Russia. However, self-inflicted, that is, someone who plans these delusional actions, has caused enormous irreparable damage to Ukrainians. The damage is not only physical, the damage is perceptual. What do you think the politicians who have no "stake" in this "game of nerves" think about a direct attack on one of the two most powerful nuclear and conventional military powers in the world right now?

  • @sukhparhar

The gravest danger for Ukraine would be the loss of Western support. They fear being forced to negotiate by their Western allies. The Kursk campaign prevents that for the time being because the Russians will not negotiate as long as Ukrainian forces are present on Russian soil. The Western allies therefore have no choice but to keep supporting Ukraine.

Hmm . being from Australia that might not seem like a lot of land but in Europe pitiful little England is seen as an important nation. As this area of the Ukraine is the most productive and where the natural resources are located it is significant . Right now Russia is in the process of capturing two more coal mines. More resources to Russian speaking people and benefiting Russia as a whole.

While Ukrainian forces are ground in the north, the Russian army is swiftly advancing in the Donbass. Ukrainian defense was ruined on a wide front in the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian are fleeing from their strongholds to the west. The Russian army is already approaching the center of Selidovo, one of the largest settlements in the area. Russian forces took control of a strategically important stronghold on the height on the outskirts and force the enemy to retreat from a wide area. Demoralized Ukrainian servicemen are offering only weak resistance.
