I danced in Danny’s (the lead singer) band This Ain’t Chicago before he formed Candy Flip. This was a brilliant cover of an absolute classic...well done to him
A loved this when i first seen it on TOTP..had the look already from listening to the Happy Mondays and Roses. Psychadelic hooded top and bleached flares..superb
Came here because my new fella into this scene and is a Scouser! 😁 my stepdad was too, he'd only been with my mum about a year then and he didn't like the Beatles and didn't like this much. I did and loved the sound of the time.
Italia 90, Joe Bloggs, The Hacienda, Shelly's in STOKE!!, The Mondays, The Roses, balmy summer days, Everything stars with an E, Happy, Happy Daze!! Can you believe its 20 years ago....
J'adorai leur style vestimentaire avant gardiste pour l'époque 👑 I would love the singer's style : hair cut, trousers... I remember having bought the same pair of trousers in France , the one he wore here on stage. Uk was the place to be late 1987 until early 90s
@@thedandycollector impossible de me rappeler de ça mais je me souviens maintenant qu'effectivement il y avait une marque de ce jeans, mais là ça date. J'en avais acheté un. J'avais fait tous les magasins branchés de l'époque sur ma ville 😉
Many people might disagree but i prefer this to the original. Takes me back to when i was 17 when this came out. They were the days. Remember the phsycadelic hoodies that were out at the time lol.
top tune from a top year, hot summer, italia 90, madchester, class dance tunes, baggy jeans, rave on!, Olivers niteclub in leek!, Leek town at wembley!. happy daze!,i think candy flip were from stoke?
@ctidcarl Dont think there will be another year like 1990 mate, we were well sorted for tunes, clothes, weather, and the odd wacky baccy!,and being able to drink bottles of 'low c' outside of the pubs in derby street, in leek with no bother, and just a great vibe!, and loads of fit birds!, you're right as i cant believe its 20 years ago either, rave on!!!
it was a good song back when i was in middle school...but watching them perform is pure...flame...not that there is anything wrong with that...(a la seinfeld)
@evanraufbold I'm so glad you learned something. Also worth learning: when you post something inflammatory on one of the only existing places for a fan of some particular band to see said band's video, you're very, very, very likely to start yet another "pointless argument". FYI. ;)
@evanraufbold He hated Paul's work because it was PAUL...and their relationship had grown incredibly bitter through conflict over the years. Just as he loved Yoko's music because it was Yoko and not because it was objectively brilliant. In regards to the Candy Flip cover, I really don't think he'd look upon something this obviously pop/disposable with anything more negative than ambivalence. He'd likely not give it any thought, really. "Rolling in his grave" is a tad ridiculous.
Nathan Ortegon my friend this is before the milli vanilli scam, MTV unplugged etc... we only had radio to hear our favorite songs and the weekly chart tv program. We were glad, curious to hear who were the poeple behind the voice. Lip synching? really it didn't matter. if they were to perform live back then it would have sucked. It would made no justice to the studio//radio version people were familiar with. Because technology sucked today it is better. Nowadays we get outstanding live performances from classic bands..
This is possibly one of the best covers ever. It leaves the original and sort of enhances it for the 90s. Really good,

it's a small world... Did you know Joanne Deer from Stoke-on-Trent ? She was a dancer in Danny's band 'This Ain’t Chicago'!

This actually was 1990. . . March 1990 to be exact. I remember watching this on TV. Good song.
Bloody loved this! Had it on 12" vinyl... when hooded tops and CND chains were IN! haha
I used to have a Smash Hits poster of these guys on my bedroom wall and still have this song on vinyl 45. Nice memory from March 1990.
Loved it and I do still, the album was good as well

Bloody hell
Strawberry Fields was originally by the Beatles in the 60s.
I like it but you can't beat the the real master John Lennon.. R I P John..
MsKerryanne Brian Ferry managed to beat Lennon with his cover of "Jealous Guy"
Yeah.. I suppose it's just down to the fact that I am more of a Lennon fan.. But I do also like Brian Ferry.. lol
wouldve been okay.. if the guy would STOP DANCING... RIP LENNON
buy the original.
LOL Lip Syncing
A bit pointless really this cover version
this is gross, Lennon would kill himself if he saw this
Ahmad Abdallah but he couldn't......Mark Chapman was well ahead of his time
Luckily someone killed him before he saw it then.
this dude is lip singing
