I traveled by air on December 26, 1992 to visit family in Watertown, Wisconsin for Christmas, I embarked on a Northwest Airlines flight on an Airbus A320 from Santa Ana, California (SNA). There was a connecting flight on a McDonnell Douglas DC-9-50 at Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota (MSP) that brought me to my final airport destination in Madison, Wisconsin (MSN). This video is of my return journey back to California. Fortunately, I was on a McDonnell Douglas MD-80 from Madison, Wisconsin to my final destination in Santa Ana, California with one stop in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. Nothing out of the ordinary in this over thirty year old video footage other than the fact that Northwest Airlines no longer exists and that today, all of the surviving McDonnell Douglas MD-80 aircraft no longer carry passengers in the United States on regularly scheduled flights. They are primarily used for the hauling of freight.

Great video! You were way ahead of the current plane vloggers! The pilot was like wow someone videoed my flight.

Loved flying on the classic Douglas Diesel-9/MD-80. Nothing like the sound of those JT8D's at full grunt!

Love the turn and burn takeoff on runway 18 in MSN. Brings back a lot of memories of riding on DC-9s and MD-80s from MSN to MSP and DTW. Super short flights, they barely had time to hand out drinks.

Cool video. Little did anyone know how different it would be to fly in just nine short years.

I agree, but how about 30 years? It’s incredible how different the inside of airplanes look today from even this.
