    Despite being a modelling guy for years now I've always had something to complain about every unit or digital amp I've owned. Yet, this little unit keeps surprising me with it's flexibility, often erasing my initial concerns over the limited DSP. Despite the Helix line is starting to show it's age against the most recent competition, given the form factor, numerous updates and user friendly UI they really knocked it out of the park with the Stomp series.

      excellent take! thanks for weighing in! 👍

      Are you alluding to the Quad Cortex in terms of "recent competition?" If so, I still think the Helix far surpasses it in quite a few areas, not the least of which is the quality and variety of effects.

      @@tappistrt i was thinking more of the fractal, the quad cortex still needs some serious updating before it becomes something more of a cool concept. Having said that, line 6 definitely knocked it out of the park as far as value and support goes

      @@leavingsoulsBO IMO the Helix also far surpasses Fractal in terms of ease of use and user interface.

      @@tappistrt As a long time Line 6 user I can agree with you. I've been using their stuff since the Pod 2.0 so their design philosophy is engrained in my tone workflow, plus their adding some legacy sounds in every new series helps in adapting my existing sounds as a starting point of my transition, so moving to the Fractal ecosystem (or any other for that matter) is too much of hassle especially if it's way too complex. However in my current bands the other guitarists and bassists are moving now for the first time in digital modelling (all with HX stomp) and they have some trouble wrapping their heads around several things in the interface and workflow, so in that case I doubt using something like the Fractal would make much of a difference, since some of the more complex stuff are about deep editing which can be ignored. However, when properly mastered, the Axe FX 3 tech can give superior results, something the Axe FX 2 couldn't as much when compared to the Helix

    Just felt like it's valid to say that this is my first time here and after that amazing intro sequence I'm actually subscribing right away. Your vhannel looks amazing, and the music was already superb! Thought you might be interested in knowing that it really worked for at least one person already! haha

    I got a HX Effects Yesterday. Using the 4 cable method with my drives and fuzzes in front of it.. Really enjoying it so far. Line 6 has come a long way.

    The stomp/ stomp xl is the best value for money, bar none. I've done blind tests and I can't tell the difference between some of the od models and my $300 overdrives. Plus they keep updating stuff for free. What's not to like?

    Hi Ryan, nice demo, I think I have been commenting for a while that a use a Zoom multi fx pedal that is a single pedal in size but can have up to 50 presets/pedalboards saved to it's memory. As you say with the hx stomp; with the Zoom also it's easy to adjust the parameters of each pedal and amp within the presets and easy to create presets/pedalboards within the unit. The quality of the sounds produced is excellent. I also love my single analogue pedals, but what you can do with a multistomp pedal is also quite impressive and create some unique sounds, and have a very lightweight portable rig. Some people say that multistomps can sound a bit digital and false sounding but I have not found this to be the case with my Zoom multistomp; it's all about adjusting the parameters which is no harder than would be with a traditional Anologue type pedal. The bonus with multistomps is you can move pedals around easily within seconds and experiment with pedal positions in your chain.

    Less is always better but IMHO it doesn’t work for multi-effects. 3 FS is kinda waste. 4 is just nice. 5 or 6 would fix it.
    Just wondering why the screen on the Stomp XL is on the left & not on the right or middle best . Thanks for the share. #staysafe

    Ok, I'll admit. It's better than my Johnson J Station 😂

    • @DemosInTheDark
      @DemosInTheDark  3 года назад

      the j station was, like, the first decent multi unit though. 24 bit processing, a/d d/a, editing software… way ahead of its time!

    What are the Technical Spec's? Always hiding that from what I cannot find out.. Boss shows theirs on the Gt1000 and core. All 32bit with 96khz sampling. What is the HX's?

      @@DemosInTheDark nice one! I agree that a couple of nice drives with the stomp is a perfect rig (and even free’s up a bunch of blocks and dsp). I’ve been gigging with just the XL alone on about 12 gigs and loving it. Sending one signal to a power amp and another with IRs to the front of house and it sounds as good as any pedalboard/valve amp setup i’ve ever used + the soundguy much prefers a good direct signal. Much less work than a mic’d amp onstage.

      OK. I've watched the video now. It's a while since I've had a Line6 product (listening through an Amplifi TT but don't use it otherwise), they seem to have their act together, I always enjoyed the flexibility of their delays and reverbs, I suppose this package offers even more than that.

    So....and not trying to be difficult here ....isn’t this “concept” just like all the other modelers out there? I mean OD/effect/amp sim/ cab sim... User preset savable...Not really anything “new under the sun”. Heck, Boss has been doing that for many years now. Call it a “fly gig pedalboard “ if you like but to me it’s just another version of the same animal.
