The Northman is one of my favorite films of recent memory. Robert Eggers’ directing style, Anya Taylor Joy’s presence, and Alexander Skarsgård’s acting is some of the greatest I’ve seen out of a film made last year. And Eggers himself is also one of my new favorite film directors with his artistic vision. Can’t wait to see his take on Nosferatu! ❤️

What are you talking about ? Most dude bros loved this movie . I personally blame the the marketing for making this look like a sword and sorcery epic when in reality it's a slasher film posing as a sword & sorcery film .
Unfortunately, the actor playing Amleth bellyflopped and drowned. You’re witnessing a stunt double at the end of the video. Tragically, it would have been his final scene in the film before shooting was over. He is survived by his four wives and 24 children.
You have never been to Scandinavia and it shows. Platinum blonde hair exists there even though it is vanishingly rare compared to black or dark brown in the human population She doesn’t look good with it because she isn’t from that place
@@namedrop721 gold hair like she had in the vvitch yes but not platinum, besides her eyes are brown so now Dunno why they couldn't just made her a brunette, she looks way better that way
It really is distracting and the only negative in the film. They paid such close attention to detail to make everything look realistic, raw and lived in, and true to the time period. Anya looks like a brunette with bleached hair, not just her roots, but her brows and her complexion are that of a brunette. It's jarring since women back then did not bleach their hair, so it takes me out of the story for a moment whenever the camera pans to her. Even her eyes are so dark, and while a blonde can have brown eyes, it just contributes to making her pale hair look out of place with her face. The same can be said for Nicole Kidman not having any gray hair, but that is not nearly as noticeable. Anya did a great job with her acting, but they should have cast someone who was, or could pass, for a natural blonde.

Not to mention the level of unapologetic appreciation for the past and the different customs of the era even things that may repulse modern viewers.
I'm glad Eggers picked actors that look like they belong in the time period.

Anya is such a Powerhouse
Olga is most definitely a ride or die woman
I didn't expect to enjoy the film but was surprised how enjoyable and then I realised it was the inspiration for both Hamlet and Lion King.
Such a powerful film! These are my people !
Anya definitely went full VVitch here
A warrior king and a good witch now that’s dope
Great film, too bad the dudebros just wanted an action movie
That's their fault. They marketed it as the next Gladiator.

Her bleached blonde hair ruined the movie.

Women would often bleach their hair in that period, both for fashion (very blond hair was seen as attractive) and to keep out lice.
