I noticed it doesn't clean the stirring portion on the top...and it is not detachable. :O
Very cool product, and I would certainly think about something like this. Spyce is probably a bit better, since you can cook ingredients separately(which is crucial in many types of dishes).
Add on modules for different cooking methods would be good too. A deep fry module, a pan fry(griddle) module with different shaping templates for burgers and BBQ chicken sandwiches, A food processing stage multi-modular assembly for pounding and coating foods (for batter frying) would be cool. A Boiling/blanching module, and a distribution module much like spyce has would make it far more versatile. In addition, having stock level and ingredient types, as well as the ability to program the machine with new foods/what ingredients are available and check these against the food selection would be awesome. If I ever own a house, I am going to build such a programmable kitchen.
That said, I like the "keep it simple" approach this one has too. My dream machine, however, is to press the cheeseburger button; the chicken soup button; the fresh bread button; the fish & chips button etc.
In essence I would love to have a fully automated kitchen where I just load in the raw ingredients, and it can store them frozen if possible, and do various prep routines before freezing(or in some cases just refridgerate). I would also love it if this same machine could do pressure canning, for long term storage without refridgeration for larger overstock. Yes, I know...I want the moon on a stick...but with current technology, this is completely possible. I would use a GPIB protocol (IEEE-488) to control all the various modules. If you can make one module work on it's own, and then all of them work, you can then have all of them working together to do complex tasks toward the front end.
Imagine the steps: Prep ingredients on command, store ingredients, program select event check(and queue multiple), check ingredients, Proceed if and only if all ingredients present, preprocess frozen ingredients if needed (low power microwave), ingredient distribution to module and route to appropriate cook module, perform cooking activity, Proceed to next ingredient, if module is busy then wait for module grant, , transfer to assembly module, assemble, deliver food to the front panel. Clean up. Register clean and ready for use. Process next queue request.
Even this would be a bit limited in that it could only cook say one dish at a time...but hey, I think it is a pretty cool idea! Very likely it would take up an entire kitchen...

I like your thinking. All the tech is completely possible. Would be fun to rig something like this up using actuators, servos, cooking equipment, and of course control it all with a Raspberry Pi.

The top stirrer portion is cleaned sufficiently in the first stage if you look carefully. Don't expect perfection from everything.

I'm thinking of building one for fun.
