Who ever produced this video refuse to speak of the savagery and brutality of the arabic islamic trans-saharan slave trade. Somalis were not targeted in large numbers some could have been kidnapped but most slaves were Bantus and Oromos

The South Sudanese are not Bantu, & actually many of the Bantu who were enslaved were Muslims themselves especially those who came from the Swahili Coast. The Beja were definitely enslaved.

I would only add that there was most likely a good amount of Mandé & Igbo slaves who were also purchased by Arabs. The Oyo Empire of West Africa primarily sold Igbo, Fulani, Hausa & Mandé to both Europeans & Arabs.

Puritan Islam wasn’t practiced until after Usman Dan Fodio’s Jihad. African Empires such as Mali, Ghana, Kanem all started of as multi religious societies. Sometimes having traditional ruler sometimes having Muslim rulers. West Africa was known for people who practiced the old gods but had heard of the Prophet.
Slavery predates Islam
Because the original Hausas were not Muslim, they had their own spiritual system. By capturing these free spirited people and subdue them that's how their culture changed into what it is today.

You tend to find that people groups who take part in slave trade usually also are affected by it. Even in Nigeria it’s the same situation we are finding with the yoruba and Fulani.
