People think of it as "graphics"--you have to remember, this was all hand drawn and painted. There were landscape scenes that were painted in layers on glass to give the illusion of depth. I honestly can't watch these older movies without being thoroughly impressed by the talent that went into them.
Honestly! The scene with Snow White running through the woods always impresses me
This was my grandfathers favorite movie. It came out the same year he was born. He collected Snow White memorabilia his entire life. At his funeral, most of the guys wore snow white ties and ‘dwarf’ colors. My daughter (who was a year old and the only great grandkid) dressed as snow white.
From Snow White’s perspective, the “wishing apple” worked. She took a bite, and next time she opened her eyes her prince was there to take her to the castle.
Snow White's blush on her cheeks was painted on by female artists that worked on the project. Walt asked one of them if it's possible to constantly draw it on and the woman asked him "Walt, what do you think we women do everyday?"
And it wasn't any paint they used for Snow's rouge, it was real rouge they painted on the cells.
Lucille La Verne did the voice for The Queen both in her normal form and in her hag form. At first she couldn't quite get it right with the hag voice so she excused herself for a moment before going back to the recording room and then she managed to get the hag voice right. When Walt asked her how she did it, she replied "I just took my teeth out." meaning her dentures.
It’s been so long since I have seen this movie that I had forgotten Snow White has her boss moments. She’s a sweetheart but she really took charge when she told them boys to wash their hands.
She was definitely a strength to her that often gets overlooked.
For me, this is the greatest animated film. Each time I watch it, it makes me smile and gives me a good mood.
Snow W.. an ultimate Classic that started the Walt Disney Franchise never gets old..They should react to other classics, such as Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, and The Hunchback, The Notre Dam.
101 Dalmatians, Cinderella, Oliver and Company, Sleeping Beauty, The Sword in the Stone, Robin Hood, and The Jungle Book.
The voice of Snow White was Adriana Caselotti. I'm not sure how Disney did it but he basically kept her from appearing in other movies (I do't think he kept her under contract). He was adamant about not mixing her image in other productions. She - that is, her voice - was in the Wizard of Oz, where the tin woodsman is singing about wanting to have a heart. Her voice responds, off stage with "Romeo, where forth art thou?" She is also heard singing via the juke box in the bar scene in It's A Wonderful Life.
(I assume you have already seen these two classics? If not, would love to see your reactions to both.)
This movie was so revolutionary, people at this time had never seen animation done like this before!! Disney really set a massive name for themselves, and it's incredible how well this movie's quality holds up to this day
The way Grumpy keeps running or falling into things no wonder he's Grumpy.
It was fun watching the movie and watching your happy reactions. Every frame was hand-drawn and hand-painted. The colorists, who were women, used their own rouge for her cheeks.
Yay, my movie i asked for 😊 thank you guys for watching, and you literally made my day ❤️ hope you enjoyed the movie 🎬🥰
Awwww happy to make your day! We loved it! Thanks for your support! 🥰
In the original folk tale, the Evil Queen tries to kill Snow White four times: first by the huntsman (who takes pity and lets the girl go), then she tries to do it herself disguised as a shopkeeper, an old woman and finally as a farmer's wife who sells her apples. Snow White doesn't want to accept the apple at first (because she's already had bad experiences), but the "farmer's wife" cuts the apple in two, eats the non-toxic half and convinces Snow White to try it too.
Little fun fact: in the original fairy tale, the dwarves' home is very tidy.
Sleeping Beauty is good, The Black Cauldron, Sword in The Stone.
Both Grumpy and Sleepy are voiced by Pinto Colvig, best known for the original voice of Goofy.
The voices of Grumpy and Sleepy were done by the same actor, Pinto Colvig, who, at that time, was already known as the voice of Goofy!
In the earliest Grimm version, she's not even the wicked stepmother but Snow White's actual mother. She also visits the dwarves cottage three times posing as peddler woman to kill Snow White... who's only seven or eight.
I just noticed the little fawn cuddle close to his mom when she said orphan. Chills. I feel its suggested that he is bambi before mom was taken.
Disney ran out of money while making this. Disney had the bank man come down and Disney showed him EVERYTHING they were doing. When Disney was through with the bank man, he went back to his boss and said, "Give Disney whatever he wants". It was THIS MOVIE that made Disney rich so that they could go on to make more movies and eventually the park. At the same time, Max Fleischer was making Gulliver's Travels (1939), which was another great animated movie. I think he was working for Paramount. They also went over budget, and after the movie was released, they fined him, putting his studio in financial trouble. If they had kept him and not fined him, I think he would have become serious competition for Disney.
*Good choice! The first feature length animated film. Walt Disney’s original masterpiece.*
One mistake I am not sure how many people notice is when Snow White is kissing the dwarfs goodbye, she only kissed six of them with the one left out being Sleepy.
This is the ultimate classic when it comes to Disney. Great pick in this movie. I love this movie and I actually just watched it a few weeks ago.
If you guys look in the background when the story says the dwarfs fashioned a glass coffin for her, you would notice the seasons changing. I don't know how long it took the dwarfs to make it, nor how long Snow White was in the coffin, BUT the seasons changing in the background should be a small clue
There are two scenes that were cut late into production. The first scene, the famous soup scene was fully animated but never colorized, it happened directly after the dwarfs washing scene. They sing the song Music in your Soup while they slurp on the soup Snow White made for them. After awhile Snow gets their attention and teaches them how gentlemen eats soup, although they do as she teaches them, they still suck their soup from the spoons, as she didn't instruct them to put the spoon their mouths the gentleman-y way. As they keep eating, Dopey accidently sucks in and swallows his spoon. The other dwarfs notice and attempts to get it out of him. Finally while the rest of them hold him down, Happy makes a great kick on his butt which makes both the spoon AND the soap Dopey swallowed in the previous scene, fly across the room and get stuck in the wall, to which the dwarfs cheer for their success.
The other scene was mostly animated before it was cut, was a scene set some time late in the movie, where the dwarfs thinks of what present they should give Snow White. Sleepy suggests a bed to which they agree and starts to work on it with help of the animals. Different gags and shenanigens happens while they do it, such as Dopey cuts off pieces of his comrades' shirts to gather fabric for the bed cover and Sneezy while carving a tree to make a bed post, sneezes which causes him to incredibly quickly carve a spiral form by accident.
Ward Kimball, one of Disney's Nine Old Men, worked months on animated those scenes and felt so downhearted that Walt Disney decided to cut them, that he seriously consindered to quit but before he could do so, Walt came to him and said "I want you to be the head animator for a cricket character in my next film Pinocchio", so he changed his mind and worked on Jiminy Cricket.
Love Snow White ❤I think yall would like Hercules, 101 Dalmatians, The Aristo Cats and Oliver & Company.
The thing that got me with Evil Queen is that you could have just had a costume made, you didnt HAVE to drink a whole body changing potion ma'am 🤦🏿♀️
Definitely need to continue with the classics!
The classic the very first Disney full length film . Being a comic book illustrator this was one of the movies that inspired and influenced me to draw for a living most of the Disney movies and of course marvel and dc comics
5:29 Run! Run away! and don't stop running until people speak to you on Portuguese!
I just love how this 14 year old girl breaks into this house occupied by 7 grown men and pretty much takes over the place and takes over running their lives😂
Technically speaking 6 out of 7 dwarves are not HAPPY 😂😂
Watch the 1959 version of Sleeping Beauty it's really good.
5:49 my uncle used to hide under the chair because of the scary forest when, he was young. Anyway, my brother and I love this movie when, we first saw on 📼.
Awesome reaction of my favorite Disney movie!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Evil queen: and to kill Snow White, I will transform into an ugly old woman and thus I will be the most fairest woman of all! Im a genius!
Magic Mirror: I don't think this lady is very smart.
Some ultra fans think that The Queen ended up becoming Mother Goethel from Tangled: Mainly because both are obsessed with beauty and ages, you never saw the Queen actually die, the general architecture of the Dwarves house and the Smuggling Duckling is the same and a few other "location" details that escape me. Anyway, that's what I read. But you know Disney fans are always trying to link one film to another.
Sadly the actress that did the voice of Snow White was originally never credited when the film was released. She had to fight with walt for years before the credits were remade. Before that, she was not even allowed to make that claim she did the voice.
They must be determined Disney fans, because the original fairy tales allow no connection 😅
Rapunzel's father stole those same plants from his neighbor - a sorceress - (because his pregnant wife lusted after them). The sorceress caught him and demanded the child, etc.
Snow White's stepmother is nothing more than an envious woman who can mix poisons.
Her end is described in the fairy tale: she has to put on red-hot iron slippers and dance in them until she finally dies.
@@cora.ann.s This is how wild Disneyfans can get. I mean they were swearing that the parents of Frozen landed in Africa and they became Tarzan. And that Belle and Cinderella were long lost sisters. Meh.
The movie that saved Walt Disney's life.
This was the first ever full length hand animated movie!
Great reaction video! One of the best classic Disney films that will always be remembered as iconic. Could you do a reaction video soon for The Hunchback of Notre Dame? Brilliant film 😊❤
This is one of my favorite movies man ❤
In the real story I believe the queen wanted snow whites heart to cook it and eat it at dinner 🤔 real dark
She wanted Snow White's lungs and liver. Instead, the hunter killed a young wild boar and brought its innards to the queen. She then had them cooked and ate them.
These medieval fairy tales were ALL dark, gruesome, often NOT with a happy ending. Disney really cleaned them up.
Absolutely loved your reaction to this incredible movie.
It's my favourite Disney Princess Movie 🍎❤
That voice... No auto tune. Pure talent. ❤
I'm not sure if auto-tune was around back then.
I wish the story focused on Snow, the prince, and the queen more, since the dwarves served as a comedic aspect. Hopefully the remake does this (similar to 2015's "Cinderella").
I heard that there will be some changes: the queen is probably no longer jealous of Snow White's beauty, Snow White is no longer white and the prince also gets a different role... let's see what's true. After the last Disney live action remakes, I have little hope that the new version of the German folk tale will be good.
This was the very first movie, I ever saw in cinema _(not in 1937, of course)._
I must have been four, maybe five at that time, and that scene with the witch poisoning Snow White scared the crap out of me.
The cinema we were in, had these old folding seats, with an open space between the seat and the back _(= the back wasn't "closed", like they are today)._
And while that scene played, I pressed myself further and further back into my seat, making me smaller, so "the witch wouldn't get me", until I finally "plopped" through the hole in the back, and my seat folded up.
Try to imagine a small kid, "folded up" in its seat, with its head between its legs...that was me.
It took several grown ups to free me again.
Kinda embarrassing - but what a memory.
XD
Now u need to watch happily ever after. The sequel to snow white 😊. She wasnt dead she was asleep but it was supposed to be an unwakable sleep. Smow white is also 14 in this story which is why shes so gullible. Amazonf how its hand drawn
From the debate of hand drawn or digital animation, I’m on the hand drawn team
To achieve a sense of depth, the Disney people used a multiplane camera, which can move background paintings and foreground or middle ground characters and objects independently of each other; it was an advanced technique back then. I've seen one of the old multiplane cameras at the Walt Disney Family Museum at the Presidio in San Francisco; it's over a full storey tall, so that the different animation drawings could be mounted at sufficient distance from one another to create the effect.
Guys am so excited you're doing this disney date nights❤❤❤ can you please do cendrella 1,2 and 3 next💖💖 you also have frozen 1 and 2. Hercules is a classic too hhhh I love your reactions keep going❤❤

Snow white not first disney movie but is first disney princess the first disney film was a 1928 short film called steamboat willie 😊
Well, it is Disney's first FULL-LENGTH movie ever. Walt Disney didn't even made any full-lenght live action movie at this point, so it was his first full-lenght AND animated full-lenght ever. Sure, Steamboat Willie was his first (or technically first release, Plane Crazy and Gallopin' Gaucho was produced before Steamboat Willie but was released after when the latter became successful) film as an independent studio (The earlier stuff like Alice's Wonderland and Oswald he did for Charles Mintz) but it was a short.
@@mevbAnd nobody at the time thought a full-length animated movie would be successful.
@johnnehrich9601 Did you know that Snow White wasn't the first ever full-length animated movie ever. There have been a couple before but since these weren't widespread (one of them was only shown in South America) or successful, they're now considered lost films. However, not only was it Disney's first full-length and the first successful one, it was the first to done in cell animation.
@@mevbDid not know that, although not entirely surprised as "firsts" often are more complicated than one thinks. Certainly Hollywood thought Disney would lose his shirt - and everything else - over this.
@johnnehrich9601 Yeah, referring it as "Disney's Folly".
He mortgaged his house and asked The Bank of America for a loan in order to finish it. They insisted on see what they have done so far despite it was only half or 75 % was animated. The head of the bank didn't say or give any reaction and when he and Walt went out to his car, the bank boss said "This film will make a lot of money." and wrote the check. If the movie didn't succeed, it would have been the end of the Walt Disney Studio and the Disney family would be out on the street. Luckily, it was a success.
Sleeping beauty?
ayo same goes for me, food to my stomach and i am a female haha
Reaction next please Disney cars
PLEASE you can react to The aristocats and Anastasia??? ❤️
We just recorded Aristocats so that will be coming soon!!
@@disneydatenite Oh my god, Great !!
@@disneydatenite Can you spoil me when ?
Can you react to The Little Mermaid
Minus some steamboat Mickey shorts at this time yes this is Walt's first movie
1937: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (G)
2. 1940: Pinocchio (G)
3. 1940: Fantasia (G)
4. 1941: The Reluctant Dragon
5. 1941: Dumbo (G)
6. 1942: Bambi (G)
Lets just point out snow white is supposed to be about 14, the prince is at least 17 so there's that its a running theme that Disney make the leading ladies younger than the male characters interpret that as you will.....
🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨 1:18
Disney is making snow white live action 2025
Awesome!!
@@disneydatenite Yeah, that's a LONG story. Fired the original actress becau8se she thought she OWNED the film and wanted to make Snow White an Amazon Lesbian Princess. Then there was the whole "dwarf debated" and the cheap Walmart Halloween Costumes.
Does dopey fit the Autism. Criteria ?
"It IS kinda creepy though. Just some random guy..."
Wanna know what's creepier? She's fourteen...and he's thirty one...enjoy your fairy tale.😅😈
He's actually 18 in the movie's notes. Unsure where the 31 rumor came from
