Beautiful piece. Reminds me of my dad, who turned until he was 97 - would give me a piece he had done and say, "well, you can always use it for firewood, you know..." They would always be beautiful turnings, you know, never giving himself credit for his talent...
Al, you never cease to amaze me. innovative, adaptive and thinking outside the box all in one video. Your excellent demonstration proves this has to be tried! The large crack follows the pattern and in my humble opinion, adds another dimension to its character. Thank you for sharing.
Another piece for your “Star Trek” period! Simply delightful! A piece one wants to hold and touch and feel the wood and the finishes! A piece Leaxana Troi would love to have on her table. Thank you for sharing your talent! -Ellen
Very nice Al. The Yorkshire Grit wet sanded did a wonderful job on that mahogany. Beautiful shine and great shape. The crack adds a nice accent. I love the winged bowls. Thanks for sharing.
Marvelous wood bowl, Al. We heard you in the beginning, and we totally understand. It's so hard to think about rearranging anything. Love the character of the wood in this piece. You did a fab job!
Don't see the problem, I rather like the variation in finishes, it adds its own interest to the platter. The platter itself is, of course, lovely as always. Thanks for sharing, and take care, Al.
You are busy this week, Al. I made a sawhorse type stand for my lathe and extension. There's a video. The main reason was I do not have enough room, and I like to move it outdoors sometimes. By having no actual table makes cleaning up easier. I get very little time to use the lathe for anything other that work. Like today, I needed 4 stainless 41/2" legs for a temporary sink unit. By neighbour is in Europe, so I have no one to tig weld. I made wooden ones with a slight taper and it did the trick. Sand and seal, 600 grit, home made waxes.
Al it's beautiful as always and I always thought mahogany was a very plain wood but that one is gorgeous absolutely love the inclusion/feathering stunning piece.
Your name « Rebel Turner » is very à propos. I was not expecting this result. Beautiful, more than respectable. I learn something new every time I watch you turn. Thank you. Levis Canada
You e now got me intrigued about what your planning on doing to your lathe. Are you still planning on doing it or did you decide not to? That platter is beautiful.
I’m going to make up some Ob shine juice at the weekend I’ve got some oak I’ll try that sanding on it thanks for all you tips and inspirational videos All the best from scotland 🥃🥃
Well Al, compared to mine I guess it'll do, Lol. Beautiful as I always say about your pieces and if I ever get good enough I will try your YG method. Take care and God Bless.
The ideas you give me. Everyone loves my turnings and I tell them all that it is thanks to The Rebel Turner. Thanks Al!!!

Beautiful Al, and the natural crack adds to it. Great job on the uniform square edges, not easy to do! 👍
Thank you very much you commenting here means a great deal to me.......... Take care happy turning
A beautiful bowl, mahogany is such a rich wood. I have wet sanded with mineral oil but will try with my sanding paste. Great outcome.
Thank you very much very much Glad it inspires you to try new methods

Again, Al - give yourself more credit. It's a good looking piece no matter what.
Interesting for sure..Even you'r simple pieces come out great...Love the tone and back and forth grain in Mahogany..
Lovely turning Al! Thank you for sharing the video with us👌👍😎JP
Al it's beautiful as always and I always thought mahogany was a very plain wood but that one is gorgeous absolutely love the inclusion/feathering stunning piece.
I think you're right about how YG should be used. I enjoyed the process and the finished piece.
Lovely piece Al,you saying the corners never come out quite as good as the center makes me feel slightly better about my winged bowls!
Glad it helps you understand your own situation but a buffing wheel could take care of that LOL
Very nice Al, I'm going to give that method of using sandpaper to apply abrasive polish. That bowl looks great.
Keep turning my friend it's all good take care. Y.N.W.A.

I am back on woodturning on a catamaran. I hope to see you back.

Great idea, I have tried wet sanding and it works well on some woods. I've never tried wet sanding with Yorkshire Grit though, must give it a try 🙂
Wow!
Thumbs up!!!
Clark
hi, I once again loved you work, one question can you tell me what is in the bottle you use for the finish please. thank you
Thank you for watching my friend

"Try it You'll like it LOL" yeah I figure it will help not hurt any
Also what was the pad you used to apply the paste
Do you just put the OB shine juice over the yorkshire grit or wash off between?
For your corner, have ever try the Beal System with carnoba finish, you can achieve with what your looking for.
, but nice work.
Well I did achieve what I was looking for with what I got. No I never used the Beal system but am familiar with it. I have seen many use it.
What was the liquid you used after the Yorkshire grit
Formula is in latest video
when are u really coming back?
It will be random
first
LOL yes you were
It sure looks like walnut and not mahogany
If you use 300 grit sandpaper the YG is equivalent to 1000 grit so you end up with a 300 grit surface. Pointless!
I am not telling people to do what I do I am only showing what I do
