Even though their colours are quite subtle (compared to some macaws and many Australian parrots) the lacy detail and feather edging around their heads is really very pretty. By the way the blue and violet tones around their caps shimmer, I'd bet folding money they are sexually dimorphic under sunlight to each other the way turquoise-fronted amazons and budgies are under UV light to us. What I'd give to be able to see the world the way birds do, even for a day!

I agree, A. Seeing the way they do would be something else! We need glasses we can put on or take off to see the way they do. And, my guess is the same, that they can see gender differences that we can’t.

Hello! Thanks for all your content. We just purchased a pair of parrotlets yesterday. Blue Pacific Parrotlets I believe. Beautiful bonded pair that are inseparable. They are about six months old. She is definitely calmer than he. We took them out this am and sat with them in the restroom.. lol. A little concerned because we haven’t seen them eat or drink yet. They seem relaxed in their cage so hopefully soon. Looking forward to your videos and all your beautiful birds.
    Started eating.. So relieved 😅

Glad you like my videos, thank you for watching!
Birds often don’t eat the first day, too scared. I’m glad they started. How is it going with them?

They seem to be doing well. Not very active. Ordered some toys for them. They mostly perch together preening one another and napping. Very quiet except for their faint chatter. They will get a bit louder out of the cage. Usually if they get stressed or can’t see each other. She is pretty easy to handle. He puts up more of a fight. Got a couple holes in me.. lol. Once they settle down they will sit calmly on you. Admittedly these were a bit of an impulse buy at the bird show this weekend. We definitely want the best for them. Would you recommend taking them to an avian vet for a general checkup soon?
Named them Sora (Japanese for Sky) and Kai (Japanese for Ocean)

I just lost my Yellow nape. I balled for days. He was the sweetest most gentle bird i had. And he was quiet. My double yellow head and blue front can get loud but it doesn't bother me

I’m so sorry, how old was your YN? Do your Amazons all get along?

@ParrotBliss I'm not sure of his age. He was a rescue birb. He was with me 7 years. He did move very slow. My other 2 are very close. They're bonded.

Thank you for this. Lately my two & a half year old Amazon has been screaming a lot. I think it might be because he's lonely.
I try to spend as much time with him as i can, but can't be with him all the time. He has his own room, with play stands, toys & foraging trays, that he spends a lot of time in during the day, but as soon as i let him out, he starts screaming.
Also, i like to put him in a cage & take him outside for some fresh air, but every time another bird comes into the yard, he starts screaming. He seems to be afraid of crows, magpies, cockatoos, lorikeets & rosellas.
I suspect he needs a friend, but i also have an eclectus, who does not like him, & i find caring for two parrots a lot of hard work.
PS Having had a sulphur crested cockatoo, I find the Amazon louder. Though, cockatoo noises are familiar where i live & we might be used to them. 😸

Yes, I would guess that your Amazon is lonely from what you describe. They are very dedicated to their bonded partners, you or another bird. Ursulus was lonely until Henry came along. They saved each other. If you can get an Amazon for your Amazon, you might find it makes things easier on all 3 of you. :) Yes, Amazons can be LOUD!

@@ParrotBliss Thank you very much for your feedback. It is much appreciated. I suspected he was lonely since they are very intelligent, social creatures. A friend he will have.

Henry is the bomb! Mine (yellow crown) was the sweetest bird. But, 2? No. You hit it on the head about the noise. Mine were ok with women but nasty toward men. I think people need to understand that parrots are mostly flock birds. Being flock birds they are loud and noisy at dawn and dusk. It’s normal. If you can’t deal with it or you have easily annoyed neighbors don’t get an Amazon. 😊

Henry is awesome! Such an stunning bird, I adore him! Yeap, they are just naturally loud. Wonderful companions, but loud. Not always and not every bird, but… often. It has to be hard on people when they are 1 person birds too…
