    Considering that I can't get all the tomato paste out of a can without a spoon, spatula, water, and a bandsaw it was amazing to watch how it cleaned all the paste off the can walls. I wonder if it had something to do with how thick the paste is compared to something like soup. Now I'm curious what would happen if you used a tube of grease as a target.

    Great way to protect against trespassers. Don't even need to load them. Just scatter a bunch on the ground around your property. Trespasser steps on them he'll leave immediately and never come back.

    Thank you for finally shooting a sealed can the right way. I have been waiting for somebody to put one through a can long ways, because that is so much better example of hydrostatic shock. You should never shoot a can that isn't laying down ever again. End-to-end is the way to go. Excellent video. Thank you again. Love this channel.

    The tomato paste cans were great, I'm curious if the slightly larger chicken noodle soup cans would work as well.
    It's possible that the longer gas seal absorbed 100fps worth of energy on the way out of the barrel. Regardless, it doesn't look like it affected its effectiveness either way, they worked great.

    • @volentimeh
      @volentimeh 2 года назад +3

      Longer gas seal probably collapsed too easily/quickly and prevented a full powder burn compared to the shorter one.

      I was thinking along the same line, I don't have the equipment but tungsten carbide or strait tungsten would be amazing, if you want to just sick with lead alloys add some Antimony, a touch of Selenium and if you're set up to mess with arsinec to harden the metal giving a cutting edge to it

    • @Plastikdoom
      @Plastikdoom 2 года назад

      @@bigjay875 yeah, if had the gear I could do tungsten carbides. Hmm, aresenice and lead, that’s a lot of hassle and dangerous shot that’ll kill you fast, or young if you mess up doing it. I’d stick with the less toxic versions of hard cast lead, though not as good, also way less chance of dying horribly from heavy metal poisoning.

    I've used a 20 guage 870 (fully rifled barrel) with Fiocci Brenneke slugs as my brush gun for deer hunting since the late 80's. I love it. I've taken deer as far as 80 yards and wouldn't hesitate at 100 yards. Very accurate, lower recoil and more than enough energy to drop a whitetail.

    Some of these projectiles that you fire I'd love to fire out of my 24 gauge blackpowder smooth bore fowler that I built. I build so many custom muzzleloaders that I had to find time to build myself a smooth bore just for hunting elk and grouse here in the coast range of Oregon. If Leon could do that I would be impressed and I'd obviously pay him for them. It would be even better if I could by a mold from him if I got to try out how the sluggs worked out. Thanx guys and everyone DONATE BLOOD AND PLASMA AND PLATELETS!!!! DO IT FOR DANNY IF YOU NEED A REASON AT ALL!!!!!

  • @sofa_king_kool

    I imagine you got more velocity out of the short ones because the longer version used some of its energy crushing the wad. The back of the wad is moving faster than the slug when first fired, until it's compressed tightly to the slug.

    Reporting in from Alberta, Canada! Thank you for your mid-video support! I’ve been watching your channel since your mercury filled water balloon video.
    It’s amazing to see “random” RUclips channels talking about what’s going on here. My Pastor was the first to be arrested during these covinsanity days in Edmonton. A good friend of mine, another Pastor, was on Tucker Carlson the other night and Fox & Friends the following night. Life is so surreal right now - seeing your “normal” friends on the news being treated like criminals for just wanting the freedom to politely decline something… yeah, it’s surreal.
    Anyway, thank you for your videos. I don’t own any guns, but I’ve gone shooting with friends a couple of times. Your videos are interesting and fun to watch from start to finish. I appreciate your existence!

    The Foster Slug as loaded in the 70s was 7/8 Ounce . We shot Winchester or Remington depending on what we thought our Shotgun shot best with . Federal also offered a comparable Load , We took plenty of Deer using Smooth Bores . By the early 80s we tried heavier Exotic slugs . In the mid 80s I was behind the counter at a Sporting Goods Store and had access at Wholesale price to the latest stuff . Thats when Winchester , Remington and Federal Loaded 1 ounce Slugs , Federal also offered a 1 1/4 ounce slug . We were a distributor for Fiocchi so naturally we played with that Ammo . Rifled Tubes came around and by 1990 our State allowed a Rifled Barrel to be used hunting and Sabbots followed . I like that Yankee Hill Slug Thank you for Sending it . I loves Your tests in the Name of Science .

      Hole punchers! Not very deep penetration but wow on the “impression”.

      Yep! They may not get in there real deep,but by God you're gonna know you been hit!
      Plus if there's a group, wadcutters make a definite "smack/splatty"sound if you're in the area of impact! It's pretty friggin disturbing on a soft/squishy target.

    Impressive all the way around, interesting that the shorter ones launched stronger. Gel block replay at end was cool as hell, nice cavity and huge (fart) bubble, not one to want to be hit by, but defiantly one to want if a Grizzly was after you.

    I have next to no knowledge of proper gun physics, so I might be completely wrong here. But my guess to explain the velocity difference between the wad types would be that the longer one compresses more, thus absorbing more of the accelerating force than the short one.
    Either way, great video and great shooting as always!
