Honestly, I think Ron's wand is the best character wand to describe pommel heavy. Especially when you're holding it! Queenie's is still really light to hold and I find that I can still hold it at the "handle" if I really feel like it. Not the case with Ron's in the slightest. Ron's feels and looks so pommel heavy that if one were to hold it upside down, it would look like a club.
I love my traditional, boring wand! I have Ginny's wand and I LOVE the elegance and simplicity of it.. I like other wands to look at, but Ginny's wand is so me..
As someone who turns on a lathe...I'd love to see him "bang one out" real quick so when one of the tools catches in the wood (or resin,) it totally scares him outta that fancy suit. ✌ from TX #woodturninwands

Thanks for the feedback but I still feel the same way. Nothing against it I’ve met plenty of wind makers that make beautiful lathe wands, just not for me. I also have a thing about remaking the same wand. I hate it
@@KivoxEnder To be honest, you just sounded like you were trashin "traditional style" wands &people who turn on lathes. There's so much you can do not just with wood but also incorporatin resin in with the wands. Get the rough outline of the wand turned then grab the dremel &do detailin. Also use the wood burner on them. I truly don't think I've seen someone just turn on a lathe &say 'there we're all done.' &just to clarify...everyone loves a suit it was just the way you were talkin it made you sound like you were above others. ✌

Fun fact: people often think that Voldemort’s wand is made of some sort of bone, but it's actually made of yew wood, (with it's Phoenix feather core, of course).
Funer fact: yew wood looks nothing like his wand but yes his wand is canonically made of yew, but if you look at the real prop it’s has a slight translucent look to it , it’s beautiful. Do you have anymore fun facts? 😁👍

Since in with swords the guard protects the hand and the pommel of the handle is used (in addition to counter weighing) to pummel or strike, I believe these terms are inaccurate for wands. Instead of guard the term collar would make more sense and instead of pommel I think end cap or butt could be used for a more accurate or less misleading.
IRL Witch here: Its always more effective if you go into the woods with a pendulum and ask a tree, in my case an oak, ask it with a pendulum if you can harves one of their branches for the purposes of a wand, if the answer comes through as yes then you look for a relatively straight branch, about more or less an inch thick (you'll want to have some leeway for whittling), once you have harvested the wand wood thank the tree and I don't know, either give it some water or pick up some trash or something as an offering. Saw and whittle the wand into the shape and size you like, stain it if you want, wrap it neatly with copper wire (not so it covers the whole thing just a spiral for conducting energy) . I chose Oak as it is a link between worlds, and on the pommel, you can either add a quartz or a different wand wood in maybe a spherical form, in my case I went with ebony (the most powerful of wand woods, including Elder) , you can carve sigils runes or symbols in as well if you'd like, additionally you can add crystals, I went with 3 mm beads between the clothwrapped handle, to represent the elements, and whatever else you like to connect with in your spellwork, my casting circle is quite a bit more intricate and powerful than the standard 4-5 element based circle so I built my wand to reflect that, then on the tip of the wand you'll want to do some research on quartz or quartz adjacent crystals that specialize in madnifying energy, get a single terminated point, about the width of your wand glue it to the end, and probably wrap some of the wire over it as well to make it extra secure. Wands are great for directing energy and magnifying spellwork, but they are not absolutely essential.
Would you consider Ron Weasley’s wand to be pommel heavy? It’s sort of mostly blade and then a large kind of knobby bark-like bulb at the end, and most people tend to hold his wand with the pommel in their palm the same way as Queenie’s wand.
I tend to prefer the pommel heavy wands. I like to feel the bulbous pommels inside my hand as I'm holding the wand. It gives me something to grab onto. My favorite is the Willow wand from Harry Potter world (which happens to be my birthday wand as well) and the Alecto Carrow wand from the Noble Collection.
Don't know much about the design of movie props in general, Harry Potter's wand in particular. But there's three layers of wood: bark, sapwood, and heartwood. I think that's what you were getting at.
I have two blade heavy wands. I say they’re heavy because they are made with two different woods, and the woods used for both of their blades are denser woods.
Okay so my wand according to Pottermore is a redwood wood with a Phoenix feather core 9 3/4 and slightly yielding flexibility. And on the core it says it is hard to personalize and tame, does that mean it is a more of a conventional style? I like seraphines wand with the crystal and also queines wand with the pearl. And I like gold aspects. But I was thinking like an additional thing??????? I don’t knowwwww

It’s all debatable but you make a good point the blade design on the elder wand is the same design on the whole entire wand ,So you can also say that the handle extends out to the blade. And that’s what I mean by debatable, 😁 👍
I (hate) molly's and tina's wands, as they are almost the same, very boring, for the bit at the under the handle it woul , be lupin's wand is my favourite, un convesional wand would, be bellatrix's first wand as it is curved, now it was minimal design on it but it's the only one of it's kind it is my favourite wand i love it
lol, the hilt is actually includes the pommel, grip and guard. Next time check your facts my dear friend. I don't like calling it a grip because most people like to call it a handle so that's what we call it, but if you want to call the handle a hilt feel free no one will stop you 😁👍
I actually have a similar sorting system! I only have three classifications though, which are the "handle" (like harry's), the "stick" (like hermione's), and the "knob" (like ron's). so basically, I just classify the area where you would hold the wand.

When I carve my wands I classify the main section the stalk the “guard” the transition and the handle the handle

Hilt. The word you are looking for is hilt, not "handle". A sword doesn't have a handle. So, by extension, neither should a wand.
