  • Last week we left the Cape and drove as far as Augrabies with stops in Vredendal, Calvinia and Riemvasmaak.
This week we drive from Augrabies to Kgalagadi Transfrontier Part. It's amazing to see our country through the eyes of a foreigner. What is normal for us as South Africans is very unusual and exciting for foreigners. Maybe we could have shot more videos but to be honest. We just enjoyed it with friends and could just sit for a long time and watch the wild animals. Do not worry. We only got out of the 4x4s where it was safe to do so. And of course, only after we have all looked the area over. My highlight was seeing 3 "teen" lions playing in the red dunes of the Kalahari. The voracious mongoose at our one lunch spot provided much entertainment and a blue wildebeest rolling around in the sand was just comical. Day one we drove from Twee Riviere to Nosop and day two we drove to Mata Mata. Chewbakkie had his second 4x4 practice in loose sand and he and Hermione trotted the red dunes like real gemsboks. Just a reminder that this is a road trip to prepare Chewbakkie (a 25-year-old Toyota 4x4) for the Put Foot rally next year.
Hermione (g)Ranger was only too willing to ride along as support vehicle.
