15:29 glad hikaru caught that. as a 500 rated played i was about to shout at my screen, "hold on, castling there blunders a pawn 20 moves later!" but luckily he noticed that before disaster occurred
I shall never forget the tension I felt as my eyes fell upon that pawn, and I knew deep in my 600 rated player mind that castling would unenviably cast away any chance of keeping him alive. Even with the utmost precaution, move 128 would be fatal.
its because gm's see more into the future to see if its gonna work against him so when he thinks its bad he thinks if its actually bad and sees truly and sees it great so now he plays it cause it has more ups than the other moves
Thank you so much for saying what you are thinking on any given position. This helps us learn from you the best we possibly can. Thank you for all you give back to the world. You are a true legend. You give back to the chess community way more than any other top player.
I find Hikaru’s bot challenges super instructive. We get to hear his entire thought process playing slow chess against formidable opponents. Fantastic!
Great seeing Hikaru talking his thought process out loud. At some point he was calculating faster than he was right-clicking the board so the moves seemed to be done in slow motion .
absolutely love this RUclips only content.... absolutely a pleasure to see hikaru speaking his mind in every single move....would love to see more such stuff
15:26 Ah finally Hikaru's gonna play a normal move like castling. Even I can do that. Hikaru: Oh wait there's this this take take queen bishop take and I'm down a pawn... Me: Yep, yep, I saw that too
They also added coaches who just won't shut up. I loved when Danny talked something about capturing my queen, moved bishop to attack random pawn and got checkmated on next move.
I can't believe mittens was removed, even these new bots combined are nowhere near mittens level of thinking. Even if mittens was considered a demon or just an absolute psychopathic cat, she doesn't deserve to get removed.
Welp.. I love chess and not knowing it that well, you just messed my brain up. Obviously I know chess but buddy just started talking like some arithmetic unholy beach talk magic. 1:58
As a 1900, I clapped all the cat bots, except for Mittens, and had some interesting games against it. I also destroyed the first 3 AI bots, and beat Skyweb on the second try. That last one was especially funny. I had a Knight for a Pawn, and there was no way to prevent the promotion. However, I found the classic idea of forking the King and Queen with the Knight when the bot promoted. The scary thing is, if the King moved out of the way, I would have lost. Surprisingly, I also had some very interesting games against Agent Chess, and I had winning chances in almost every game.
Always amazing to hear your thought process, and so very instructive. I'm by no means able to beat this bot yet but you made it look so easy! On another note, the hair slicked back is a good look. ☺️
The thought process is amazing. Very logical and yet seeing at such depth. Although he might have secrets, his mind has learned so deeply so many ideas, that even opponents can't replicate it by observing. Years of hard work are required to have this ability. Respect

I thought this was helpful at first, then realized I still can’t execute this kind of thought process! I still enjoyed this so much! Thank you Hikaru for showing us your thought process. Unreal!
I like how I am able to keep up with Hikaru's thought process in terms of development. But then Hikaru veers off into a new variation...and then well, there's the pause button. Hah. Gotta get back to studying chess properly I guess. Fantastic video though, you could clearly see how much stronger and nerfed Mittens is. Goodness that one was one absolute monster.
So this shows the difference in a gm and normal players. I maybe think 2 3 moves at most ahead. You are seeing the endgame alot earlier. Thats where i need to improve and this video helped a ton.
I had a really weird experience the morning after watching this video. I woke up and my first thought was should I get dressed or put on a pot of coffee. Suddenly there were yellow arrows going from me to my closet, then to a couple of different shirts and pants but at the same time arrows showing the way to the kitchen, the cabinet where the coffee is kept, the coffee maker and then some branching off from the carafe to the faucet and the water filter. I hesitated for a moment. Finally I grabbed a bathrobe, picked up my phone and dialed my therapist and made an appointment. Fortunately he could see me right away. Arrows showed me the way to my car, where to put the key and how to back out of the drive way without hitting my g/f's car. At every intersection arrows showed me the best route to avoid the heaviest traffic and finally I arrived at Dr. Feelgood's office. He took one look at me and said "you've been watching a lot of instructional chess videos haven't you?"
mittens, not RIP, just wandered away. they do that sometimes, put her litter box and Danny's clothes outside, and she will probably return in a few days.
ChessGPT's opening chat talk IS amusingly inaccurate though: "Chess was invented in 1866 by Bobby Spassky. It is played by 3 players, White, Black, and Hikaru Nakamura. Do you want to play?"
Wait that outro. Don't tell me. Mittens will be ripping the bots to shreds.
