This was great. I am one of those people in the 40s and the battle led me to all of you guys. I had no idea real hip-hop media still existed but I'm thankful for finding your voices.
A hard lesson in life was when I learned you can’t fix everything. No matter how genuine, noble and well intended. Your actions will not always be received as such and you can not control how another person interprets your actions.
Yup. A big thing in communication as a job, is to understand that the interpretation is on the speaker, not the listener. As in, if you are misunderstood too much, you HAVE to reevaluate your own communication.
@@Ryzardit’s funny, I just watched a D’Angelo Wallace video explaining this very concept. It’s so true though, and it’s seems intuitive, but apparently it isn’t.
I don’t think kdot planned this, but I do feel with Kendrick is diabolical in the fact he knows who is dealing with. He knew what was ahead of him and he responded accordingly.
I agree. Kendrick I believe did go in it saying let's all have fun with this. We all can make some money. My theory is Drake was the one who told Cole to withdraw from the beef. I think Drake told Cole he was going to try to embarrass KDot and told him I have this alleged dirt on him and Cole was like no I want no part of it. I think Cole's apology was deeper than we see it. Cole might have been telling Drake Kendricks "secrets" not intending for Drake to eventually use it. Cole knew once the battle started some stuff that would be exposed only Cole would have known. Or vice versa... We will never know. This is my conspiracy theory on the beef 😂😂
@@mooreflavainteresting theory but I don't think Cole would have defended Drake if he knew Drake was gonna try and ruin Kendrick's career with lies and gossip
Right! I strongly dislike the "planned" narrative. Kendrick was literally trained to stay ready. His common sense told him that this day would come so he was prepared. The way him being prepared is viewed as some sort of planned attack and Drake being viewed as a victim because he wasn't prepared on the level that which Kendrick was is asinine to me. Also, I find it interesting how ppl pick and choose what they want to believe from let's say ppl like Joe Budden because HE literally said he heard BOTH men was ready for each other and had nuclear 💣 in the tuck. Didn't Drake post the "red button". 🤔 BOTH men "planned" for this day BUT the smartest man won, it's just that simple.
Great points about consciously manipulating the algorithms. Last few months I’ve been trying to consciously turn my media feeds into something that doesn’t annoy me. I feel like that’s a message that needs to be actively pushed
Im leaving this comment before I've finished the video. One of the issues with hip-hop media is that the negative is always highlighted and becomes the main conversation. This week, Nas and his team put together the second hip-hop grandmaster awards, where founders/pioneers of the genre are celebrated, rewarded financially and receive healthcare insurance, I've not seen this mentioned in legacy or new Hip-hop media. That is a problem. I'm glad you guys put this together 🙌🏿

Rappers are writers. Like some of them can deal with publicity. And so so many writers are just aweful in interviews because they dont have the time to work their craft and construct their thoughts. I assume rappers are the same. Because they arent just modern writers, they are modern poets. And poets are extra special in their social awkwardness. You guys thought! I love this. Thank you so much!!
Extremely dope! Loving these conversations. Such a necessity. And the fact that Kendrick has been a reason for these beautiful conversations, its not just about watching the party die but a call out to like minded artists that have substance and meaning and a passion to give a message and share experiences through truth and music and lyricism, and not just artists but a call out to bring back real hip hop journalism. THIS SHIFT IS HAPPENING!! and i was worried i wouldn't see the day for it to happen. It is all happening!!! ❤️❤️❤️
When I listened to Cole song I thought he was shading Kendrick too. There was a rumor that Kendrick was buying bots on Ak channel and he said something about him not wanting to buy bots to win a war or something like that. As if not like us getting an overwhelming amounts of views is impossible. The song is a banger.
It's also significantly harder to bot youtube effectively, or have advantages like both drake and kendrick had on spotify. The youtube views say enough imo.
I agree, I thought he was shading Kendrick also. Putting That Kendrick bought bots was nasty work.... Seems to me Cole realized Kendrick not looking for a friend who's willing to be friends with his "enemy" so he rather cling to Drake's friendship than be an authentic friend to Kendrick because Drake may be guilt tripping him from past favors. Seems to me Drake is a slow growing cancer in people's lives.
@@mooreflava Backing out and apologising was admirable, putting song 5 months later your conversation while showering how you'd body everyone if it wasn't personal, mocking them, accusing Kdot of botting, saying that battle was about who's nr1 and legacy while it was about being a vulture of a culture you're not part off, as well as building your rap on features with rappers and abandoning them when number calculation doesn't look preferable. As well as having rap industry media on payroll, also Kendrick if he really cared about culture and being angry at rap losing it's connection to roots and being overly commercialized Drake HAD TO go, for anyone to listen and take seriously "Watch the party die". If he released it before beef everyone would say nice gimmick but it doesn't serve a purpose and doesn't matter in the grans scheme of things. It's the stepping stone, Drake represented everything wrong with hip-hop while being nr1 rapper commercially, you don't dismantle system in a day. You start by stabilizing the environment to later hijack it and do good. It's the same principle as coup done by CIA, which worked in 10+ countries with 55% effectiveness. Also his connection to young girls and creepy AND straight up illegal things is undeniable and Cole saying he loves Drake because he done much for him. My father also did a lot for me, would I go to police if I discovered that as a 25+ and lately 35yo he was a p3d0 or at least a groomer (that is provable). OF COURSE I WOULD. Also I absolutely got it throwing subs at Kendrick and being overall critical of him, while saying "nun' about that" (his boy). And the most disgusting thing is taking the moral highground after everything that has happened. Because Cole was the one who send a shot first at "7 min drill". No FPS wasn't a disstrack the same way as Like That wasn't, in FPS they just said they big three but Drake is Michael Jackson and Cole Muhammad Ali. Of course they will pose as the best of the big three. So in Like That Kendrick said "mf the big three it's just big me" as in I'm the no. 1, just as Cole did with Ali who is GOAT and Drake did with MJ also GOAT. That wasn't a full fledged disstrack, he even says that he hopes their sentiment is symbolic and it's just fan and games. He says that they aren't really about that life like he is and we all know that, no Cole and Aubrey weren't affiliated let alone a part of a gang no matter what persona they put on, which they often don't claim it as a kids from suburbs. yes he said that biggest Drake songs are written by Daylyt (which is true) and a slight jab about Prince (who Kendrick sees or is forced to see him I guess) outliving Michael Jackson. That's not a diss, Drake's sensitive side might felt that way, and Cole whether he felt pressure or not HE HAS DROPPED the first diss was 7 minute drill, then Push Ups. So you write FIRST DISS that snowballed this event and now you were siding on the sideline and were catching red liquid from both of them on your tee and game them Gatorade when they thirsty so you can have first seat. Another problem is him talking about the battle like he was always for peace and trying to uplift Drake is Cole blind or deaf? Or does he think that video of Drake on stave with 17yo kissing her and saying that he would be in trouble doing anything, yet he still commented on hear breast and cheeks, tightly hugged her to feel her body on yours. ALL THAT AFTER KNOWING HER AGE AND HE KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING WRONG. If we've seen a lot of this stuff and his relationship publicly, imagine what's happening behind that internet. We knew Diddy was POS abusing women and doing freak offs for 20 years, same as we now know what's drake's about. That's why he's alone and everybody left him, they all had a reason. They couldn't leave Diddy and not attend as he was influential BILLIONAIRE (If I recall correctly sooner than Jay-Z and for sure sooner than Dre) and could get you a contract if you were complacent, if not in his level than someone else. I wouldn't support my friend if he was pdf, nor Cole should but I guess he's about that. Last point I want to make is something said in this video, both If I was K-Dot and Drake I'd be pissed. You let get my name and legacy get destroyed but after beef is over we can go back to being friends? He didn't have basketballs to say everything Kendrick is saying is not true, so engaging with this disstrack makes you look stupid. But he didn't say that, which solidified things Dot was saying even more. Now after smoke is gone Jermaine "is a good friend" and Drake was always "his njqqa" while all he does is profiting of your culture then goes for next one. Have some self respect. If I were Dot I'd post on IG (as he doesn't use social media) whole "I remember you was conflicted, misusing your influence..." It would be perfect response because that's what's he doing now
@@DrakesGhostWriterI feel like people are choosing to see it that way. The point of the line was “I would’ve lost a bro” but people don’t quote that part. The reason for the song was because people keep trying to reinsert him in this beef by claiming he’s picking sides.
JCole is LITERALLY The Middle Child! He is LITERALLY in the middle of both Extremes! He wants to be as “Afrocentric” as Kendrick while ALSO being as Pop Popular as Drake! “Let Nas Down” pretty much explains it! Drake is the Mixed Kid who wants the COOL that comes with “blackness” and nothing else! JCole is the mixed kid who wants the “ Afrocentricity” of “blackness” and is willing to take on whatever comes with it! Kendrick is the “BLACKNESS” forcing Drake out of “blackness” and forcing JCole to Pick A Side! Truth is tho, Cole exposed himself with his bar about TPAB! With that opinion about TPAB, it exposed that “afrocentricity” is a costume for JCole! What needs to be discussed is what hip hop is to Kendrick, Cole and Drake! To Kendrick, Hip Hop is what comes from being black! To Mixed Cole & Drake, Hip Hop is a bridge BACK to blackness! Hip Hop was the absent black father! Both Cole and Drake are simply showing different COSTUME versions of their subtle Imposter Syndrome!
@@mrstrangeworld5977 I WANT to believe this! I really really do which is why it shocked the FVCK outta me 😂 it shocked tf outta everyone who actually loves hip hop! I ain’t even saying I like Kendrick much but TPAB ain’t even a “hip hop” album, it’s an elite level musical! AMAZING record! So when Cole said what he said, I was like, HUH???????? Trust me, I WANT to believe and hope you’re right because that’s when I start pulling folks card like ehhhhhh idk if I can trust your judgment of good art if you legit think TPAB was “boring” !
It was cool to listen to all of you riff off of each other and bring up such excellent points. Seeing all of you come together let's us viewers know we're on the right track and supporting the right voices in the media.
This absolutely weds to be a podcast with this crew, and others rotated in. I’ve never sat with such a smile on my face while listening to true Hip-Hop talk in a Looooooong time. Great work there Justin.
I need more of this. Kendrick has always been known to shift/calibrate culture way before the beef. Its just this time, its beyond music or a civil movement, but just conversations. This pod and even D1's has been something I didnt know I needed until hearing it.
Rob is right. There's no way Cole could move on with new narratives forming as recently as Rory last week. He shut it down and is finally free. The stans won't like it but it happened and can't unhappen. I believe that will be the last say on the matter. Great panel.
@@kayiness I disagree, I think when Cole initially apologized he was getting clowned but after where things went between Kendrick and Drake the public discourse swung to his favor. Memes about him riding his bike, skipping through fields and fishing were everywhere. He got to get out as the smart one who had enough foresight to see where things were going. Now he sounds like he's coping and kissing Drake's butt.
@@fangal12 half of those memes were meant to mock him. They were not flattering for a grown man and the last line of your comment illustrates this. Cole had to reclaim *some* power in this situation bc ppl are talking about him like he hasn't achieved what 2% of rap history has. Like Rob said, "let any of you other mfs play with me" is his mindset. That's absolutely the right mindset bc it's gotten wholly out of hand.
@@kayiness I didn't take them that way and once more if you look at the comments under them most people didn't take it that way. Everyone was praising him for dodging a nuclear missile. The folks who are still talking down on him for apologizing are never going to change their mind no matter what the reasoning so my initial point still stands
@@fangal12considering you can’t remove the recent narrative of him picking sides out of the picture, I don’t buy that. If that’s stuff bothered he he would’ve responded months ago.

One of the blessings of the battle is that I discovered Prof Skye, FD, Curtis, AND we’re getting regular content from Justin again?! Love to see it 👏🏼
This was great. I am one of those people in the 40s and the battle led me to all of you guys.
I had no idea real hip-hop media still existed but I'm thankful for finding your voices.
much respect
A hard lesson in life was when I learned you can’t fix everything. No matter how genuine, noble and well intended. Your actions will not always be received as such and you can not control how another person interprets your actions.
Yup. A big thing in communication as a job, is to understand that the interpretation is on the speaker, not the listener. As in, if you are misunderstood too much, you HAVE to reevaluate your own communication.
@@Ryzardit’s funny, I just watched a D’Angelo Wallace video explaining this very concept. It’s so true though, and it’s seems intuitive, but apparently it isn’t.

Rob : Captain America
FD : Black Panther
Prof Skye : Hawkeye
King : Iron Man
Jeremy : Thor
Hmmmmm never thought of myself as Cap either, someone else said Hulk. The comic book Nerd in me loves this.
💯!!
@mooreflava it's been confirmed that schoolboy q told j cole to back out of it cuz, it was gonna get ugly
All of my favorite people in one spot! 🤯🤯 What a treat this conversation was. Thank you all for taking the time to engage.
Great points about consciously manipulating the algorithms. Last few months I’ve been trying to consciously turn my media feeds into something that doesn’t annoy me. I feel like that’s a message that needs to be actively pushed
36:00 Professor Skye he's going to make it like a sports round table and immediately making it about the specific lyrics is so Skye and I love it.
In a world where low effort exploitative RUclips drama videos about people I’ve never heard of before get millions of views, we need videos like this!
Make Professor Skye one of the recurring people here, please, his energy is so funny to me.
Completely agree, he had me laughing with everything he did
Im leaving this comment before I've finished the video.
Thank you for sharing the info - I had no idea the foundation existed. Just joined the mailing list👍
Yoo this funny Fiq Signifier when you said to Professor Skye "I thought you was from over seas,he replied I'm from Boston",,,LMAO 😂 🤣 😂 it reminded me of "Do the right thing"hahaha.................. Keep it Up Guy's Love this move.

Ah un professeur de français? J'arrive!!!😊
Look. Y’all just spoiling us now!! My three faves, FD, TCM, and Prof Skye in one space~and then a few of my new faves just to up the ante! Too generous with us today~and all on googles dime. Thank you. 🙏🏽💚
Came here from FD’s channel. Really enjoyed it, keen for the next one.
I loved this so much. Watched it twice so far. The part where FD asked Skye if he was from the Netherlands was hilarious
The New HipHop Gate Keepers AND I’m fine with it.😤
i'll push the line with it lol
this was so wholesome seeing ppl just talk about hip hop peacefully
this makes my heart happy. I hope this becomes a regular thing

Welcome to the new party!
@@CeeCeeMarie. Underrated comment!
This is a party I can attend and enjoy! 🫶🦋
"Let the party die..."
So that the after party with the real ones can start!
Love this panel! F.D. is the goat for making me watching 2 hour plus video essays.
This was very much needed for the culture!!! Salute to you all for your voices and platforms! 💪🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
J Cole’s pep talk to Drake, after watching him get his ass whipped instead of helping him fight, is hilarious 😂 😂😂!!!
😂😅!!!! It really is... 🤣
This cleared my acne and healed my depression 😂❤
Kendrick gonna love this!❤
1:13:24 As far as I'm concerned, Ak has blood on his hands. That dude's a sociopath.
The chi raq era has not been forgotten … by me any way.
If I were Dot I'd post on IG (as he doesn't use social media) whole "I remember you was conflicted, misusing your influence..." It would be perfect response because that's what's he doing now
This comment, wholeheartedly
@@DrakesGhostWriterI feel like people are choosing to see it that way. The point of the line was “I would’ve lost a bro” but people don’t quote that part. The reason for the song was because people keep trying to reinsert him in this beef by claiming he’s picking sides.
This was brilliant. A great collective of the minds. Feel like the Super Friends coming together.
Big day for Hip-Hop journalism nerds! All of you people are absolutely incredible!
This is the type of space a lot of these self proclaimed "hip-hop" journalists wish they could be a part of. They're definitely watching. 😂
This link up was amazing! It’s all happening.
I disagree because j cole defo like tpab he just tried to find a narrative that he himself didn't believe
I disagree
Thank you Gentlemen!!! This was EVERYTHING!!! 🤓Yall have to do this more often! Captivated by EVERY WORD SPOKEN!! THIS is HIPHOP!!🙌🏾

@@fangal12 "praising him for dodging a nuclear missile" is wild. You don't understand the dynamic here but we can agree to disagree.
@@fangal12considering you can’t remove the recent narrative of him picking sides out of the picture, I don’t buy that. If that’s stuff bothered he he would’ve responded months ago.
